Are you moving to NYC soon? In today's video, I put a spotlight on one of the great areas to live in New York City. I lived in Williamsburg in 2018 and loved it because of several reasons; it is close to Manhattan, there are great restaurants, and the art/culture scene is epic. However, there are many other awesome things about this area too! Watch the guide to learn why you should consider moving to Williamsburg (or at least visiting)!

Great video on Williamsburg! I remember walking around Williamsburg last year when I spent an entire day in Brooklyn, and I was impressed with the scenery there as well as the food scene!

This neighborhood is nice for single young people or very wealthy families because the average middle-class family can't afford homes or property there. Also, it's not a community. A community is where everyone knows each other and gets along well. Due to gentrification over the last 60-50 years, there are no more tight-knit families or neighbors. I never lived in Williamsburg but ONE thing I noticed ONCE I moved to southeastern queens from Northern Queens(LGA) is that my neighbors introduced themselves to us when we moved in. I didn't even know my neighbor's name back in northern queens nor did we make eye contact with each other.

People in these neighborhoods used to know each other now its a bunch of uptight out of towners flooding nyc and thinking paying excessive high rents makes them a new yorker

I grew up there in the 60s -70s. We had a few local spots in the 80s. But we played in the city. My train stop was Marcy ave. One train stop into Manhattan. I Moved out to buy a house in queens. Gentrification pushed out a lot of the families that lived there. I still have a best friend that lives in the area and I go to see her. I get annoyed because it was an affordable place to live and dine. Now it’s for rich kids who walk around in identical beards and purposely broken tights. Lol
I go maybe once a year to walk around but it’s not familiar to me. Doesn’t feel like home. I use to go to the local vendors to get grocery items for my mom. We use to buy from the Jewish store owners for our clothes for school. You could get fresh baked goods for Pennies and traditional Puerto Rican food. I use to bank across the street from Peter Luger‘s restaurant I don’t even think it’s a Bank anymore lol. Can’t park your car anymore. I do like Domino park. Wish we had that space growing up. My boyfriends dad actually worked at Domino sugar factory. I remember hanging out at the piers that were the original actual piers. Not in the best shape but fun to play music, dance and chill. Poor kid’s entertainment. I am not against making a neighborhood better but not when you white wash it out completely. We use to go to swim at McCarrion park and grab a knish at the soda shop. Or have affordable old school thin crust brick oven pizza made by Italians with their rich accents. Mom and pop shops could not afford to stay. How anyone can afford the rents is mind blowing; it’s definitely not a melting pot. It just melts your wallets. Rich kids walking about spending dads money dressing up in second hand clothing that cost more than new clothes is what has moved in. Lol I’m being sarcastic here, even mean spirited. Sorry, but it’s ok to explore. To live. Dunno 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am a sentimental old fool I suppose but I’m grateful I lived there before all the hoopla. It was a neighborhood with issues of course but with flavor and affordable for blue collar working families. Anyone who lived there in the 70s-80s even 90s knows what I’m talking about. One good thing is it pushed out the gang element and renovated the tired monuments by the Williamsburg bridge. Build your towers but leave some space for the hardworking middle class and help the local needy. There should be room for all.

    This is only partially correct
    Almost everyone who knows
agrees Astoria is the best neighborhood in nyc but in fact it should be in the top 5 in the world

Long Island City is like Manhattan, 2.0 Astoria is cool, my favorite Queens neighborhood is actually Forest Hills but I live in Williamsburg, so I’m biased.😂

LIC is not better than Williamsburg, it’s full of high rises and is missing the character , diversity and overall vibe of Williamsburg.
