    Just started watching your videos!! I love your personality and your teaching strategies! I start as a first year pre-K teacher next week. I’m so excited but, really nervous. Can you do a video or give me some tips on how to do the first day of school. Introducing yourself, the classroom, the class rules. It all seems overwhelming I have so much great ideas.

    Hello love your routine, I will be a first year Pre K teacher 2023-2024. I work as an assistant this year and I am excited to get back to the lead. I noticed that during snack time you read a book to the children while they are snacking. I love this and I have read to children in the past during meals time with books that relate. My question is how do the children do as far as getting their snack done, the children in my room now love stories and they would be more focused on the book than their snack. Do your students eat their snacks while listening. What do they do? Because watching this I am thinking that doing this I would tell them before reading that I will be reading this story and you have to eat your snack if you want it, but when the story is over then snack time is over. I like the reading idea, but how does it flow for you.

      Thank you so much for watching! That is such a great question. So in my class we pretty much have read aloud, during snack time every day so when I recorded this video, my students were already into the routine of knowing how snacktime works. My advice is two things: 1. Make it a daily routine in your classroom, so by maybe October or November, your students are already used to that routine, so they what is expected of them. 2. Give them warning during the story so they know how much time they have left. I typically use this call and response I say: “Oh class” they say: “Oh yes” and then I tell them how many minutes they have left before snack time is over. From there I continue reading the story. Once their time is up, I usually say: “ Pre-K, hands up, clean up”. And that lets them know that their time is up.
      So all in all, just practice and they’ll get the hang of it. Hope this helps!

      Hi! The state of New Jersey puts a limit of 15 students allowed in a pre-k classroom. However, I had 13 students in my class. Also, I was a lucky one! I knew that I wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old and I just worked from childhood to college to make that happen. Thank you so much for watching!

    Hi I live in New Jersey, I’m an upcoming Highschool senior wanting to become a pre-k teacher. I was wondering what the college process was like and what classes you had to take?

    • @niaofnewjersey
      @niaofnewjersey  6 місяців тому +2

      @@Ry73737 Hi! I went to Rowan University for my undergraduate degree which is an amazing teacher college in New Jersey. I’d highly recommend checking them out. Another great school would be TCNJ.
      Start off by looking for a school that offers exactly what you’d want to major in. Then check out their requirements to get in and gather all that you need to be aligned with their requirements. See if you can do a campus tour and talk to students who attend there.
      The classes that you would have to take should be outlined on the school’s website under the major that you’re interested in. I’d also encourage you to reach out to your guidance counselor. They should be able to help you with the application process and understanding what is required. I hope this helps!

    Can I work with older children, like not so little ones, with an ECE diploma? Or is this program more focused on younger kids? If so, what should I study to work with older children?

    • @niaofnewjersey
      @niaofnewjersey  Місяць тому

      @@jgarcia8647 Hi! Thanks for watching! Depending on which state you live in, an ECE degree would allow you to teach a certain bracket of grade levels. In New Jersey it’s Pre-K through 3rd grade however in other states like Pennsylvania it’s Pre-K through 4th grade. If you are looking to teach elementary still but higher than 3rd or 4th grade, then you would study “Elementary Education” and I believe you are then able to teach K-6th. But again, I think that depends on what state you live in. If you are looking to teach grades higher than that, you would study “Subject Matter Education” or it may also be called “Secondary Education”. I hope this helps!

    I want to major in early education and my random question is..since their still babies I know they have accidents, do you have to help them wipe or anything like that ? I think for me that would be the hardest 😂

    • @niaofnewjersey
      @niaofnewjersey  6 місяців тому

      @@ashylageorge7649 Hi! Thank you for watching💕!
      You’re are correct, accidents are super common. In my experience, I’ve only had to help with wiping if they’ve had an accident. The students that I get are typically older 4’s meaning they will turn 5 at some point in the school year, so they are usually fully potty trained. There are some classes in my district that have 3 year olds and I could imagine those teachers having to help with wiping. Once you have your very own classroom, encourage the parents to teach their children how to wipe throughly on their own so that 1. You won’t have to and 2. You encourage their independence! I hope this helps!

    I’m a freshman in college studying mechanical engineering but watching school from the view of a teacher is always interesting
    my 3rd grade music teacher introduced us to the world of brass instruments and to this day I’m thankful for that as I learned how to play the trombone in 5th grade and still play to this day and I’m now 19 :)
