So many people don’t really understand what it’s like to be a teacher. We need to support and lift our teachers up. I have been teaching 15 years now and I love what I do but it is definitely hard.
Did you ever at first feel like it was overwhelming and that maybe your not cut our for this? My wife is just starting and is stressing out already. I'm telling her it's a job that needs to be done and can be done without losing your sanity, just all in the mindset. But apparently I don't understand.
Don't care. Don't like the job then leave it and find something else.
Mad respect and appreciation for these teachers.
But who is actually doing work and watching CNA vids?
Very few would wanna get lowly paid for handling bunch of children EVERYDAY & at the same time handling headaches from the children's parents
Class size matters. We definitely need a smaller number of children attending one class, meaning more teachers and support. That will be beneficial to effective teaching and learning.
It's been a month since I started being an assistant teacher at a daycare center. It's very taxing on the body. The kids are what makes it worth it, but long hours and bad work environment can really drain you psychologically. When I go back home I still hear children screaming. I feel for the lady that said taking care of multiple little children are very different. You really need to have good stamina to keep up with everything. I'm very glad that parents at our daycare are appreciative of our work. It makes me feel like our job matters to them and their kids :)

@@katsuuron7358 1 year later how is it now? I would like to change my job to be an assistant teacher as my current job is very demanding and I need to work even after office hours. It's precious time I can spend with my child.

@@Arnab_biru oh my hello! I would say it has been a rather tiring experience. Depending on the company you're in, some may take advantage of you. But kids wise, you would really have to like kids and have the patience. I feel like the company I was in hadn't really given me much as I was always being tasked to do administrative work while I was also jumping from centre to centre assisting teachers (mainly for pn and below) as dispatched by the one above me 😱 For the company I was in, I feel being an assistant teacher amounts to working with only younger children and administrative work! I have to say it is rather draining physically and mentally in the long run as it is not just kids whom you interact with. As for work life balance, i think for most organisations, assistant teachers don't really do a lot of the paper work that main teachers do? (i actually hope its alright to post this online though)

When I was in the eleventh grade I was apart of this Teaching program at my highschool that took us to a pre-school and worked us through the dynamics of educating youth. At this preschool we were there with 2-5 year olds everyday. When we weren't in our regular class learning about the different school systems, methods of learning, and construction of a lesson plan we were in the real classrooms absorbing what life was like to handle 15-25 preschoolers. On one special day, we were granted the opportunity to join our classes on a field trip to a zoo, where we saw and learned about many different animals, visited different exhibits, and played the role as a leader. I personally remember interacting with the students and being over one little boy who didn't get the joy of having his parents join him like many of the other kids had. He was such an excited little child who wanted to take me everywhere and while I looked forward to this day for so long and anticipated how fun field trips would be, I have to say I was utterly exhausted by the end of it all. It was so incredibly tiring yet so... Eye-opening. To be in the place of a teacher and go through the ropes I was reminded that it is a draining profession - But to see their little smiles and share in on their happiness made it all so worth it.
Present day I plan on pursuing Early Childhood Education and I am so thankful for that program for giving me hands on experience early because some people don't realize how strenuous it is until they are student teaching in their third or so year of College.
I loved my time at that preschool and I know this is going to be a difficult but overall rewarding journey. I can't wait until I'm in the classroom with my own set of students and can finally say, "Good morning, class. I want you all to know I am very excited to be with you all today and I know we are going to have a fantastic year together." With the trials and tribulations.
That day at the zoo I took a picture in the mirror of this sort of cave with Windows to the monkey exhibits, and I remember seeing how happy my little buddy was to be there and to be with someone who gave him that one-on-one attention instead of venturing behind students who's parents were present. I will forever hold that experience close to my heart as my confirmation that this profession is something I truly wish to delve in. Wish me luck. ❤️
I'm a preschool teacher. I transitioned from an after-school type of Academy to a full-time homeroom teacher. I can safely say, this is the most exhausted I've ever been. I assumed that now I'm working 7:40am to 4:40pm I'd have time for a social life after work. Nope! I'm dead tired everyday and fall asleep by 9pm. Teaching young kids is difficult especially when there are kids that can grasp material easily and others who don't. It's difficult when you have parents who think a teacher can make their kids smart and blame you when their kids are not doing well. It's difficult when parents ignore that their kids might have a learning disability and tell you they will grow out of it. The daily routine is hectic but honestly I love my job. I love it because of my students. The genuine love they have for me is my weakness. So in a nutshell, the downside to teaching kids is the parent factor. They put so much unnecessary pressure on their kids before they even start primary school. I always tell them that learning is a continuous process. Their child is on a path of progress and they should never punish the child for not progressing as fast as they would like.

This is actually something I would like to do, but I don’t know how long I would last! I really like kids too. I hope that they will get enough teachers by 2020.
Looking at how much the wage has increased i'm sure this problem will get worse.
Parents expectations are also higher and many current generation parents' no longer discipline their children making it harder to control a class.

i am a preschool art teacher and planning for their lessons are really difficult because you need to think of the mediums they will use to create the craft... each planning is a real challenge... but the outcome when you see the kids doing and accomplishing the craft, is really satisfying🧡🧡🧡
I’m a kindergarten teacher and We have Pre-school in our kindergarten too. So I teach both KG and Nursery students. And It’s true , when dealing with the little kids , You have to learn to be patient and don’t rush into things. And yes The hardest thing about teaching is THE LESSON PLANS. I LOVEEE TEACHING KIDS BUT I RATHER HAVE A LESSON PLAN GIVEN TO ME AND I JUST FOLLOW THAN ME SPENDING MORE TIME ON WRITING THE LESSON PLANS AND THEN CONDUCT THE CLASS! This job might be tiring but It’s indeed very rewarding at the end. So YES IM PROUD TO BE A TEACHER!
I hope parents can respect the Teachers more, kids these days are so fragile man, scratches here and there parents complain alrdy

In the Philippines, the ratio of a teacher to pupil is actually 1:40. Imagine, how chaotic and hard it is? Plus, the school facilities and learning materials are limited. The teachers also get low salary rate. Sigh.
Do you know how old the kids have to be in the 1-40 ratio?
Usually, this ratio is normal in all public school in the philippines.
Oh my God, it's the same with what happened in Indonesia especially my region, there are only 2-4 teachers for around 90 childern
I am a teacher and can totally relate with the reason why she gave up teaching. But as the other one said, "it's not the easiest job, but it's a rewarding job."
Strawberry generation. I applaud all early childhood educators! Parents these days need to learn to let go and let kids be kids and let them learn life and TRUST teachers. Not all teachers are abusers that we hear in the news. Gosh.
I obtained a diploma from Ngee Ann poly for their ECH course when it just started out. When I graduated and entered the teaching force, the starting pay was a measly $1800 or so a month. You ended up in charge of a class of over 20 kids that were merely 2 to 3 years old and often classes had children with special needs in them aswell. I ended up being so traumatized by the entire experience that I left teaching after a year because I realised that I was doing a diservice to both the children and myself. It's truly not an easy job. I'm glad the pay has since increased but they really need to lower the child to teacher ratio.

I have been an assistant preschool teacher for the last three months, and it is the most challenging job I’ve ever taken on. Each child is wonderful in their own way, but after providing the individual and collective attention to somewhat meet the needs of 30 som children, I come home with nothing left for my own family. Not the path for me. Major respects teachers who are in this for the long-haul…. You amaze me.
I’ll join in! I’m getting my degree in education in a few year and yes it is a challenging but it teaches you as well. Just remember there is a difference between loving kids and teaching them.

I’m a teacher. The toughest part is many times administrators are not supportive and that allows parents and students to overrun teachers.

I could suffer any pressure from kids and parents as soon as I know how to deal with them- love kids, understand parents' needs. But once if you get a greedy, not smart boss instead of wise lider, unsupportive, lazy assistants and other staff, additional unnecessary work - it will drain you worse than thousand kids!

The schools only let Diana Ser go to the older preschool children’s classes- the Kindergarten 1 & 2 classes. Try getting her to take this video with the two youngest group of classes - the Nursery 1 (2- 3 yrs old) and the Playgroup/Toddler (18 months - 2 yrs old plus) and see what she said.
I am currently a preschool English language teacher. Have been in this line for 5 yrs. I am going to leave this industry end of this yr. Why? Disappointed in this industry.
Many preschools don’t pay their teachers and assistant Teachers well enough. The job is demanding and extremely stressful especially if you are in charge of the two youngest group of children in the N1 and PG classes in childcare centres
I had experience being the class teacher of these N1 and PG children in one of the previous years. I didn’t like it and still don’t like it. I am currently in charge of the Nursery 2 class (3 - 4 yrs old) which are slightly older children.
I can understand and echo the same sentiments as the Malay lady former teacher interviewed in the video.
Low salary and the stress level of working with children, especially the youngest ones in N1 & PG, plenty of background preparation work means Teachers’ after-school hours are not totally free, more and more children diagnosed with special needs joining the mainstream preschools in recent yrs, always not enough teacher assistants helping out the form Teachers with very young children’s toileting matters like changing diapers etc....
I am getting very sick of this whole preschool industry and is certainly going to leave at end of this yr after finish teaching my current class of N2 children..

We have many labors that arent as much as they are supposed to and this is definitely one of them.
I'm a preschool teacher i love my job but the parents expectations and their complaints about tiniest things makes it really hard once a kid took socks of some other kid in his bag and i didn't realize he had it in his bag tomorrow his dad complained about it i mean we are also humans not superheroes i have 28 kids and sometimes its so rush to check everyone's bag cuz the kids are always very active and one missed eye and they're already in chaos.
Yeah...I had enough too. I will quit teaching in the near future. Teachers around the world face the same problems.
I m a preschool teacher working hour from 7.45 am to 6.30 pm ..its not an easy job....bcoz of the young age group .. but every time i tell someone i m a kindy teacher. They will be like oh kindy teacher.. so easy ... nothing to do... maybe people dont realise how time has change and how much is expected from us...
It's good to mandate CCTV in all preschools.
This is also to monitor for evidence against abuse, and also able to monitor if the centre has enough manpower to run the centre.
Many centres have shortages of manpower and teachers are running up and down to cover the shortages of teachers. The centre also reports a false manpower Kota to the MOM.
This will also result in stress handling the kids.
In some centres even the cleaners are told to cover or assist some classes as there is a shortage of teachers .
Ecda should take stringent follow up in all these issues.

Last time, I walked passed the centre and saw the centre cleaner supervise the childrens . If anything happen who will hold responsible and answer the parent .
The student and teacher ratio not proportional. Those paperwork / setup event / food distribution should get non teaching staff to assist .

I gave up on working in local childcare. Got bullied by so call senior teachers badly. I’ve been asked to wash poo 洗💩 for 15 children for just half a day, I stopped counting afterwards. I love teaching but the politics between teachers was horrifying.

Remember child’s food preference? Wow a NEW task , sounds like a nanny (yup in the vid says a professional teacher ; noble job)
Not only that. We have to remember each child's water bottle, bag, shoes and parental requirements , bathing instructions, whether they have medicine etc

It is difficult. They seem cute and sweet. But lots of crying, fighting, parents send kids to school sick then you get sick. In an English language preschool in another, say kid is slower or has a disability...it is your fault if they don't understand or advance.

@@dennisfu82 suggest you try working in the early childhood industry especially in charge of the childcare centres’ PG (18 months - 2 yrs old plus) or the N1 classes (2 -3 yrs old). Then share how is your experience 😀

This is Singapore and we do speak English, it being our first language. As we have different races in Singapore, such as the Chinese, Malays, Indians and others ( Eurasians), English is predominantly our first language followed by the mother tongue of the respective races. We are not part of China.
