  • We installed a set of the Teraflex Speed Bumps in our JKUR and where very impressed with them. We where so impressed with them that we wanted to do a Teraflex Speed Bump Review and show you just how well they perform. If your Jeep JK is in need of a bump stop upgrade we highly recommend checking out Teraflex for their Jeep JK bump stop options and specifically their speed bumps. These provide a massive improvement over the stock setup and make sore a very smooth off road ride. We speed a lot of time in the desert where there are a lot of whoops/bumps and generally rough trails and these have made the JK perform far better out there. If you are in need of an upgrade you will not be disappointed with this setup. We want to thank Teraflex for making an amazing product and Alpha Dirt Off Road for getting these to us quickly and for a great price! #teraflex #speedbumps #teraflexspeedbumps #jeepjkbumpstops

    You may wanna look at your rear sway bar link... It seems to be rubbing on your tire pretty good. Looks like you put the link on the wrong side of the rear stabilizer bar.

      We addressed the problem right after filming, we put the jeep back together in a hurry to film the video. The rear Trac bar was about 3 turns off center, once we adjusted that back into center it cleared that problem right up. And the link is actually on the correct side. Good catch though.

      Yep, really improves the ride through the rough stuff and allows for higher speeds without crashing down on the stops.

      Before adding the Teraflex Speed Bumps it wouldn’t have been possible to hit the whoops that fast. They work really well.

    But you limited the rear travel quite a bit. The tire can't tuck under the fender at full flex. You lost like 5 inch of travel .

    Damn !! Awesome video bro! The installation of that rear bump stop was just a bolt on install? I was watching some installation videos and most of them have to involve some cutting.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 років тому

      Thank you! Yes, the rear is just bolt on, couldn't be easier. It's very simple. It's the front end that takes some work and cutting, don't be too nervous, it can be done fairly easily.

    Hey bud. That JK is looking great. Was thinking of something similar for my XJ but I need to do more fender trimming first. I like following all of the vehicles on your crew, but especially your JK and Max's XJ. It looked like your swaybar links are slightly rubbing your tires. I saw a dark stripe, or is it my imagination? Take care.

    • @SWActiveExplorers

      Thank you for your support, we greatly appreciate it! Yes the swaybar end link was barely rubbing the tire at full droop. We noticed it when editing this video and have adjusted the trackbar.

    Nice review! I've been thinking about these or something similar for sometime. One thing I've heard about them is that the fronts can be pretty loud and obnoxious with the constant metal to metal contact... I can hear it in the video. Can you comment on that at all?

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 років тому

      The TeraFlex Speedbumps come with a plastic lower bump stop pad and the shaft itself also has a plastic strike pad. No metal to metal contact. That being said, they do make noise when contact is made. With the windows up in the Jeep I barely notice it, with the radio on I don’t hear them. With the windows down they are audible but not what I would consider loud or annoying. I’ve been around the other air or hydraulic bump stops and honestly, these are quieter than those. For me, the little click when they make contact is more than worth it when weighed against how well they soften bigger hits. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions, and thanks for tuning in!

      @@SWActiveExplorers Thanks! I guess I didn't know that there was plastic between them. I've thought about the SumoSprings as well. A lot of people seem to have a good experience with them as well. Thanks again!

    I'm thinking about upgrading to the Teraflex Speed Bumps. I was wondering if you can tell me the con's? I hear about all the pro's. Do they really work and do you hear any noise when hitting the bumps? How big of dips can you hit before bottoming out?

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the question. There are a few cons I can think of. 1. They are not rebuildable. That being said I havent seen any damage, or noticed any drop off in their performance. They have a microcellular foam as the shock absorber inside thats similar to the factory bump stop material. Teraflex says they last forever and I have nothing to dispute that. 2. They are not adjustable. To be specific, they are height adjustable to fine tune your bump out point for proper flex / tire clearance. They are not adjustable in their firmness. 3. As far as noise goes, you will hear a slight click as the bump stop striker hits the axel pad. Is it loud? No. Is it noticeable? Yes. It is quieter than let's say a king hydraulic bump stop though. I've had the jeep on the trail with another rig that was running the kings and I could hear his clicking from inside my jeep. 4. To your question of bottoming out, you really shouldn't worry about bottoming out. Using every available inch of suspension you have will give you the greatest amount of flex and travel. These bump stops will slow that last few inches of travel down so when you DO bottom out, it's not as jarring and harsh. I will tell you that after installing them I was able to go noticeably faster over bumps, whoops, and drops before noticing the jeep bottoming out "hard". Teraflex makes a bunch of different kits for different lift heights so it will do you good to either call them up to get the right kit, or do your research before pulling the trigger. For the money, these are a great upgrade over stock. If you want fine tuning capability and maybe the ability to haul serious ass through the desert, there really isn't any better choice than full hydro bump stops and very expensive shocks / coilovers.

      @@SWActiveExplorers I'm having Rebel Off Road build my JK. I had the AEV 4.5 HD lift and suspension with 2.5 Fox Shocks. I'm setup for Overlanding. But after snapping my right bracket for the control arm and noticing that all of my bushings where shot, I decided to upgrade and try something different. I changed out my control arms to the Teraflex Alpine IR and front and rear track bars. I'm also upgrading my shocks to Falcon Teraflex, with 4" springs. Hopefully my JK will drive nice again.

    Is that clapping sound the new bumpstops or something else?? Just wondering if u can hear speed bumps vs rubber.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  4 роки тому

      The clapping sound is the front bump stop striker pads hitting the axle side spacers. The GoPro picks it up very loudly because it's close to it. The strike pads and spacers are plastic, so they do make some noise, but it's honestly not all that noticeable in the cab. They make more noise than the stock foam bump stops, which make virtually no noise. That being said, any aftermarket bump like the Teraflex, or any hydraulic/air bump will have a clacking sound when they initially come into contact.

    Damn what exhaust is that

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  3 роки тому +1

      Its a discontinued cat back system from Dynomax. I believe it was called their "quiet crawler" cat back system. Love the sound, but it took 3 tries for them to get all the parts and pieces that were required to do the install. Even after they sent everything that was supposed to be on the packing slip, I still had to cut and "massage" certain pieces for it to fit.

      Miles better than the factory Rubicon shocks they replaced when the lift went in. No more shock fade and they give a good ride for a lifted Jeep. I don’t have any personal experience with any other brands shocks on the Jeep so couldn’t tell you if they are better or worse than XYZ brand. I’ve been very happy with them.

I'm active duty as well stationed on the east coast but from Las Cruces, trying to decide which way to go with the last piece of my build, fabbing the front shock mount to eyelit raised 2 inches to allow 12+ shocks same with the rear or go 6pack or go accutune coilovers, something aggressive these monotube ain't cutting on this east coast wheeling lol

      They have a progressive dampening valving setup. Slightly stiffer than stock on the road but not harsh. When the hits get harder they get stiffer. You can also change the gas charge to suit your needs. If you call Rustys they can advise you on a psi to run them at if you want them harder or softer.

      If you call Rustys they will also give a military discount.
