I just found your channel. You speak like a teacher. You also have hands like my third grade teacher. It’s amazing. I’m a hand person, so I couldn’t help but notice. I’m loving all of your videos. You’re awesome, lady!
WOW! I am amazed! I thought the organization system behind you was some big expensive system that came all together from ikea or something. I had no idea that you had creatively crafted this beautiful ensemble yourself. This is truly amazing! You give me hope that maybe someday I CAN get organized and I can do it on my tight budget. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful ideas. You let me know I can have a better life.🥰🌸🦋
If you take those small adhesive backed felt tabs made for protecting your furniture from planters, etc. and create a hole, you can place it over the nut/screw to protect your hands when reaching in.
Nice, thank you. I am redesigning my craft room due to flooding in my apartment and had to clear out all of my stuff so management could come in and clean up water damage. Love the color cohesive idea.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I bought a set of bins but am using them a little different than I had planned at first and they need handles. I've now ordered my supplies from Amazon because that's easier for me and am just waiting for it to arrive. Your instructions were easy to follow. Thank you!!!
Very good idea. Thank you for sharing! If you use larger diameter washers, it will distribute the pressure better and will not pull out or crack your container as easily.
Good idea. I used E600 glue instead of screwing them in. I saw this in a magazine many yrs ago and I had to try it. . Its been since 2010 and the glue has never come loose. I found myself always scraping my hand on inside hardware and catching my ring on it. Your shelving looks very nice!
Thanks for sharing this fun, easy project, Norrine! Your instructions were crystal clear and the demo was really helpful and full of great suggestions.
Hey Norrine....all I can say is you, my dear, are in the 'right business'! Another awesome idea....TFS (thanks for sharing) and have yourself a wonderful day!
If you have a hacksaw, it's easy to shorten the screws to the right length. Just put the nut on first, cut off excess, remove the nut, then install as usual. Having the nut on before cutting allows any damage to the threads to be 'repaired' by removing the nut after. The hardest part is measuring and that just requires a very fine felt tip pen!
I went to my local Habitat ReStore and got knobs and pulls. They aren’t my favorite, but they work and we’re REALLY CHEAP. I love your affordable ideas, please keep them coming!
Such a custom look, which is decorative and simple to do. I enjoy your practicality and approach to finding solutions for organization and stuff management. 🌸
Great video, Norrine. I always wondered how you added the handles. It makes everything line up and match so well. Thank you for sharing. Blessings - Judith
When you had the flat white cardboard on the bin, the camera didn't have anything such as a dark spot on which to focus, hence the blurry segment. This project is a great idea!
OH!!! Thank you!!!! I'm always bummed when I get the the editing part of this process, and realize the footage is blurry or hard to hear. Thank you, JT!
I'm in the middle of a major craft room re-do! I have been overdosing on your videos for support and inspiration! I will definitely use this idea when I get all the bins figured out! Also using the Dollar Tree contact paper to cover just plain cardboard boxes has been a God send! Thanks so much!
Thank you for this great idea, I think the handles will help prevent the boxes from getting grimy from always touching the box with your hands. A small suggestion, to “hide” the shiny screw heads on your handles, take a black Sharpie and colour the screw. 😊
Hello from Dallas. This was one of the first of your videos that I watched. I’m glad to have found it because I just changed out a lot of my bins and am going to do this. Even going to find the same hardware.
Thank you so much for this video ! I am one of the ones that inquired about them . I am working on doing my shelves like this . I need to purchase one more set of shelves and more containers !
I’m curious about the other boxes that have a file label on them that somehow appear to have a hook or something too? Not sure. But they also seem very similar to the labels that are on your jars. They all cohesively match the handled containers too. Perhaps you can do a part two with the labels system and how you tie it all together. Thank you!
If you've ever brought handles or knobs, often they come screwed into a piece of cardboard to keep them from moving. I keep those little screws, they are tiny and come in handy for projects like this
Tfs, I like that you brought everything together by the handle. I never thought of it that way but it makes it look planned and purchased together, great idea. Thanks again
I haven't used this idea yet, but I have some of that same style handles and I like them too, so that's what I'll use. Thanks so much! If I have any ends sticking out, I'll use some hot glue to cover the sharp ends.
Instead of nuts you can buy cap nuts. I'm not sure if that is what they are called but it is a nut with a rounded top. I hope to do something like this with my craft area soon and that is what I will use because if there is something just a little bit sticking out I will hit it and possibly get cut. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
i almost asked this exact video topic as a comment in another video and viola you've already answered my question. off to lowes to look for some of those handles. you could also use computer machine screws as they are much smaller
You’d laugh. I bought a couple of wooden paper organizers a few years ago, from Home Goods. But then, I found small wood boxes, where I could put 2 in each of the cubbies. I still need to sand the tops down a bit, so they will go in and out smoothly. But, these are boxes, that I’m using as drawers. I didn’t want to go through the effort of drilling holes into them so, what I’m using are binder clips, which simply clamp over the edge of the drawers, as pulls, which fold flat, when not in use. It actually gives a bit of a classic library look to them. What I need to do, however, is to buy small label holders, so I know what’s in each drawer - whatever decade I finish this little project. But, the binder clips were an easy way for me to just add a simple way to pull the drawers out. Another use I’ve actually found for binder clips? As drawer stops, in the back of one of my kitchen drawers, to prevent the drawer from extending past the rail underneath and falling out.
Thank you....I have always admired the idea of handles on all your containers. I was wondering if a dab of hot glue on the end of the screw would give just a bit of a cushion to keep from scratching you or contents. I am hoping that once I get organized....have you heard that one before? ; ) I have a lot to sort and toss and I may move so I'm holding off on an actual craft room area for now...but I can dream. : ) Thanks again and have a blessed day.
The handles are really just pretty for nice aren't they? You really wouldn't want to try to "pull" on those boxes when they are full of stuff. But I like that idea. Yes, you can pay an arm and a leg for knobs and handles in the home improvement stores.
I was speaking with my husband about your installation of pull handles on your drawers and magazine holders. I have always thought it would be a good idea to put handles on my binders that hold my dies,. They get so heavy by the time they’re full, I keep reorganizing to find a method that will work better for me (I have a very, small crafting space) . Now, your video brought the thought of my memory back to light and I asked him if it wouldn’t it be better to use a bigger washer to better distribute the weight of the object being pulled so you do not compromise the sturdy yet delicate (it’s not wood) foam-core from tearing the screw right through the opening (I’m probably not describing myself very well). I’m thinking after repeatedly pulling the handle on a foam core magazine file (containing considerable content weight) the screw and bolt will come right through the foam core. He suggested that to prevent this from happening, put a washer on both sides of the foam core. One on the outside of the box and one on the inside of the box.Thank you for all of your time and sharing all of these wonderful organizing ideas with us. Love them ❤️.
I’m sure you’ve told this before but I just found you today and have watched several videos. Can you please share where you got your boxes. I love that color and have been looking? Thx so much.
There’s some nuts that are called screw caps, that cover the ends. They are inexpensive and might be helpful! Just read....someone already suggested that! This idea is adorable!
I have white cardboard magazine holders I had purchased from amazon. I was going to cover them with scrapbooking paper or contact paper but I don’t think I have the patience to do so. When I saw the inside of your magazine holder, yours looks like mine. Did you paint your cardboard? If so, what did you do the the edging to cover the corrugated edges on the top?
I love how the IKEA ones look, but I needed more than I could buy. So I used cereal boxes. I turn them inside out and reglue them, cut them to size. Masking tape, any tape covers sharp edges. Then I painted them all quickly with a sponge. A cheap sponge from a pack of 8 for a Euro. I used leftover paint from an accent wall. Thanks for the drawer pull ideas, will use those too.

I have put a glob of hot glue on the ends of the screws, just to keep them from scratching things and keeping the nut in place....if you want to change anything up you can peel the hot glue back off :-)

Hi I found your video very informative and helpful, it's going to help me put a handle on a plastic bin in the kitchen, by the way you can use a glue gun to cover the sharp ends of the screws, so you don't hurt yourself, cheers good luck.
I have done something similar, but I used heavy duty glue instead of making holes. :) Can you please tell which paint do you use to paint your containers? I really like that BLUE :)
Sadly, mine came from Ikea a few years ago - they were on clearance for $1 each!!!!! When I paint swatched, it came back as Tiffany's Blue. Hope that helps.

I love the farmhouse look of the handles you chose. It's amazing how that one addition makes all those different containers look like part of a set!
I totally agree! I really love them. Thanks for watching! :)
Spent about an hour and found this video. Exactly what I needed to know!!

I tried to look this up and the methods were so complicated for a beginner. You're a doll. Thanks for making it easy! Lifesaver! 💞💞

That looks great! Try putting a tab of black paint on the screw so it would match the handle. I am going to do this one for sure.
Hopefully you will find this funny. I'd never noticed the color.... not it's all I can see!!!!! LOL I will be fixing that this weekend!!!!
Good idea. I used E600 glue instead of screwing them in. I saw this in a magazine many yrs ago and I had to try it. . Its been since 2010 and the glue has never come loose. I found myself always scraping my hand on inside hardware and catching my ring on it. Your shelving looks very nice!
Great tip!!! Thanks!
I think you could put a piece of tape - duct tape, maybe - over the screws to minimize scratching or catching on things.
You could also buy a small length of tubing that you can cut and fit over the exposed metal, sorta what we do when we wear stud earrings!
Very clever idea, I like how you made a template for the handle placement so that if a set of boxes are made they will all look uniform
Thanks!

Larger circle - covers more surface area :) (Dawn, let me know if I am mistaken)

Such a great idea. I have some paper plastic boxes with handles and some without because the ones without are cheaper. Now I can do handles your way!

With a hack saw with a metal blade you can cut the end of the screw if you wish.

You can easily make a hole in plastic with a cheap small soldering iron.
Hah. I knew if I scrolled far enough some other genius would mention the soldering iron. I use mine for ANYTHING plastic!
