I disagree I felt mocked. Plus they didn’t really serve a proper thanksgiving dinner. They were not very well mannered they were snickering the whole time. American food is the best. American pies are the best. I say that as an Italian Brazilian American.
I’m American and I have never heard of corn pudding 😂 I eat corn bread or just corn whether it’s on the cob or not but I’ve never heard of corn pudding that’s weird lol but interesting
I just don’t bother with the bread anymore. My preference is just a bag of cold leftover turkey as the protein and some other cold side dish/veggie for a quick meal.
@@milkman3873 It’s not a formal custom. It’s just part of what can happen with leftover turkey after Thanksgiving. I wish they had served proper roast turkey instead, but it’s not like I’ve never made a sandwich with leftover turkey (and mustard). But to substitute this leftover meal for actual fresh roasted turkey? That’s not the genuine experience.
I so enjoyed this! As an American grandma, I want to adopt them all. They are such delightful, respectful young men with wonderful humor. Well done to their parents! Blessings to all.
Other countries make sure their children learn respect, unlike America where a lot of children are taught that being rude and narcissistic is acceptable. And yes I am a 56 year old American woman, born in Wisconsin

How could you fail to give them the store-bought canned cranberry sauce. I would have loved to see them react to the sauce sliding out and retaining the shape of the can.
That's the cranberry sauce that my family used when growing up and we loved it, delicious flavor. I would eat it by itself, not on anything but if you put a thin spread of it on bread and just add turkey only (maybe try mustard with it too) it tastes delicious.
I’m a 70-year old American woman and I found all of these young gentlemen - hosts and headmaster included - to be absolutely adorable. They are all bright, well mannered, and articulate. Their reactions were polite yet candid. I only wish they could have had an actual Thanksgiving dinner complete with stuffing (dressing). Thanskgiving without dressing is like a day without sunshine. My family makes the dressing with day old cubes of bread, juices from the cooked turkey, celery, beaten egg, butter, turkey giblets and/or sage pork sausage pieces, and rubbed sage. We have to make double batches because it is everyone’s absolute favorite. We serve candied sweet potatoes - sliced sweet potatoes sprinkled with pecans, glazed with maple syrup and baked - no marshmallows in sight. That “Day-after-Thanksgiving Sandwich” is news to me. We heat up our leftovers for a second dinner. The turkeys being pardoned were huge! The original turkeys the American settlers found and that still roam wild today are a third that size. Of course, as the rest of the world knows, America likes to supersize EVERYTHING.

In the US traditional side dishes vary wildly from region to region and family to family. That being said, Thanksgiving sandwiches are not served at Thanksgiving dinner. They are an option for eating the leftovers. They do appear on some restaurants menus year round though.
Also, I think they're replicating the sandwich Monica makes Ross in friends, where she soaks a slice of bread in gravy and sticks in the middle of the sandwich.
@mr_minty idk. I've been to England just once. The food seemed bland- probably cause I was in touristy areas and not with a local. I'd live to come back and see Ireland and Scotland one day 😊
As a teacher, thank you so much for deciding to use your sponsorship money to buy breakfast for the whole school. It makes such a massive difference, especially as for some kids the only food they get is what they eat at school. Working with kids who have actually had something to eat in the morning makes a massive difference
After the meal, it is time for American football and leftovers. Then cleaning forever and preparing takeaway packages of leftovers for the guests. My husband works at the Post Office on holidays, so I send parcels of the whole meal with him for the single guys for them to enjoy the holiday too.
My parents had an exchange student from Norway. Several years later, we went to Norway to visit his family and he requested that we cook him and his family an American thanksgiving dinner while we were there 😂
As an American, I just want to say thank you for these videos, they are so entertaining and all around well put together. You boys are so genuine and respectful young men, your country is privileged to have such fine examples as all of you. Keep up the good work! God bless!
Next year we should ship several grandmothers over to make them an authentic Thanksgiving meal because the food is so much better when it's made with love.
hats off to the amazing headmaster and teachers and parents who are doing a bang-up job of helping these boys become thoughtful, polite, inquisitive, and confident young men. and Ollie's "what i'm thankful for" brought a tear to my eye.
I like the boy who said you'd have to go for a run after Thanksgiving dinner. We Americans know that you have to go before because after a FULL true Thanksgiving dinner you can't move due to your food coma. 😋 That is why all city's Turkey Trots are in the morning.
I'm a 67 year old Amrican. I have never heard of a Thanksgiving sandwich that has all of the table food piled on it. Just the meat. These boys were lovely.
I'm 67 and we have a turkey restaurant at a food court in a big mall here in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Business is brisk year round and the biggest seller is the turkey sandwich with turkey, moist bread stuffing and cranberry sauce. It's delicious! And I'm not a big turkey fan.
I'm a 42 year old American. We've always made sandwiches out of the leftovers, like what was shown here. There are restaurants that make them as a special item around this time of year. Jobs I've worked at (mostly hospitals), will make them too.
Those poor boys needed to try a pumpkin chiffon pie. And where is the green bean casserole? But them saying what they are thankful for is the sweetest!
Absolutely. We've never had sweet potatoes or pecan pie for Thanksgiving. We've also never had green bean casserole, which wasn't featured in the video but, appears on many people's Thanksgiving and Christmas tables.
Indeed! In addition to turkey, we also have honey-glazed ham. We also have rolls, corn bread, Mac n cheese, green bean casserole, a potatoe dish, pecan pie and Ranger cookies. Yum to all of it!
@@alewicke those things are very southern. I live in Texas and they’re very common here. That sweet potato casserole is like a taste of heaven! Green bean casserole is pretty good too. Very cheesy. As an American I am charmed by these lovely British boys! I do have to say that although the marshmallows on sweet potatoes is very common here, I much prefer a sweet potatoes casserole with a topping of pecans, brown sugar and butter! There is also a huge debate here about how to pronounce the word “pecan”! There is the way you all said it “pee’can” and how I personally say it which is “puh con’”. Glad the boys enjoyed the pumpkin pie! This was fun!
I agree with these young men. I prefer sweet potatoes with just butter, salt and pepper. They are sweet enough without all those added things, in my opinion.
Yes. I can't do sweet potatoes and marshmallows. But brown sugar yes! Alternatively I will put my cranberry sauce with it. And it is amusing that when I say the pie I say Pee-can buy when I say the nut on it's own I say Puh-can
This is the second time I've watched this video and I get so emotional when the young man is thankful for his parents... like actually tears. They're all so sweet with their thanks. FYI I'm an American that can NOT stand sweet potato casserole.
I'm from the US, & lived in London for a couple of years in the late 1980s. My (then) boyfriend's mom went to the library & researched Thanksgiving dinner foods & made the WHOLE SPREAD for me! It was prepared through the filter of the UK, but I gotta say, while some things maybe weren't quite as good, others were the best I've EVER had! It was the first time I ever had cranberry sauce that didn't come out of a can with a big slurp! She actually made it from REAL cranberries, & she put in some orange peel & little bits of chopped walnut, a dash of cinnamon, & just as she took it off the heat, she threw in a handful of fresh raspberries! Oh my GOD, I've never had cranberry sauce even CLOSE to as good as that! Her stuffing was top notch as well. The gravy left a lot to be desired. It was a brown gravy, not much more than broth. But all in all, it was a delicious meal, & the effort she put into making me feel at home the first Thanksgiving I was living AWAY from home really touched me. She was a wonderful lady (shame about her son 🙄). Her name was, get this, Charlotte Webb! No, really! ✌🏼
@nannettefreeman7331 What a wonderful story. You have a really awesome mom. I love that. Thank you for sharing. That warms my heart and soul. Just to let you know. A lot of us hate that can stuff. If I make a cranberry sauce it's from real cranberries. And you're absolutely right using orange peel. Delicious. I even put a little ginger in that as well. It fills the home with such delicious smells. I'm getting a little antsy over their pies. Pie crust is very important. Using lard animal lard and butter is very important. Not that Crisco vegetable lard. Did you know they used to use that for engines? And then they turn around and sold it to the public as a fat to replace animal fat. If I hand you a pie it's going to be flaky crusty deliciousness. It will melt in your mouth. And have layers and latitude of light buttery savory goodness. I come from a family a farmers and bakers. Grow our own herbs.. eggs from the farm. Heavy cream.. a must making your own whipped cream. On my husband's farm they grow pecans.. My husband's farm does more large growing agricultural. My family does cattle farming, and goats milk, cows milk, eggs. All of the farms work for all of the farms. My great uncle has the cattle farm. We have three other farms that work for that farm. So the cattle are well fed. Have lots of land to graze on. We use ruminant animals such as hogs following behind the cattle and the chickens and geese to follow behind the hogs. Makes for very fertile land. And then my other uncle's farm and his son's farm. They basically grow everything that everybody else needs. Whether it be herbs. Whether it be The goats the chickens the geese. The geese on the farm are actually the watch dogs. If you've never had a gaggle of geese chasing you. You may think It's just geese. Oh my. Try and catch a goose. Absolutely impossible. They have a little tooth on the end of their beak. And when they bite they twist. Leaving broken blood vessels. It's so painful. I was trying to convince my uncle that he needed to get a dog. After 27 laps around the house. And him finally seeing that I was wearing down and getting bit. He opened the door and welcome me in. And they all listened with a single whistle. He had different whistles for them. Even an attack whistle. Which was a high-pitched double whistle. Nothing will get on that farm without them alarming. And a gaggle of geese running after you. I don't care if you're a fox I don't care if you're a hound I don't care what kind of an animal crosses the field gates. I learned real quick Wow. Geese are wonderful watch dogs.. But it was so much fun growing up. Never any petrol touched our land. Everything done by hand. Even on our cattle farm. They never lined up one by one by one. They were always taken one at a time. The processing plant built right beside their barn. It looked just like their barn. When it was time to harvest we would take them one at a time. My great uncle would always do a prayer over them a blessing. Thanking them for their life and their sacrifice for our sacrifice for life. He would always say as God would intend. They must live off the land provide to the land and they provide for us. Their farm was so beautiful. All of them are. Picturesque right out of a book. Every spring summer and fall all of us would gather and start working the farm. Every seed was planted by hand. Everything harvested by hand. All animals harvested by hand. My great grandfather worked really hard on training all his boys. On farming.. When they were old enough to take over the farm. He left. I knew him as the traveling salesman, but I found out later that he was actually coined the witch doctor. Higher education and the church cursed him. Whoever heard of healing someone with an herb. This was the time Rockefeller was trying to demonize any natural herb and synthesize all natural things. So throughout the family he was called the traveling salesman. At 17 I was able to start diagnosing my family. I spent a year nannying but I spent every single weekend studying with a naturopathic MD professor. I met him at a coffee shop. Started picking his brain and we wound up spending 7 hours together. We had lunch and dinner. Haha I love the human body and I was watching my family fall hard. But also witnessing that they were being healed by the old ketogenic diet. Today's terms would be paleolithic ketogenic diet. Basically a carnivore diet. I can't get too deep into it. Because UA-cam won't allow us to talk about those things. Lo and behold. When I was 17 I came home with some genetic testing, you have to get this we have a connective tissue disorder. I guarantee you we have methylation issues. SNPs MTHFR gene mutations. My grandmother said to me, you're more like your great-grandfather's daughter than I ever could be. I laughed and said the traveling salesman? Mimi I'm not selling anything. Although I would like you to get the tests. I need you to get the test to prove me right. She said no no. You scolded me for years. About my oxalate issues in the greens that I was eating. And she was also dealing with an herbal company that was reading off of q cards to tell her how good she would feel taking their products and it was causing severe issues. Put her back on the carnivore diet and everything started to fall away. And I slowly brought her off of her oxalates. What's absolutely incredible. An older gentleman showed up, 7 years beforehand. My cousin was getting more medication for his epilepsy in this older gentleman said why aren't you doing the ketogenic diet? When he went to get his mom the man disappeared. That day whenever I was telling my grandmother what we needed to do. She pulled out a picture of my grandfather and said that's him. And I heard the diet worked. It worked on both of them. Good job. I immediately saw my cousin the next day. I handed him the picture made him close his eyes. When he opened them we were jumping and screaming like little kids. My grandmother we ran from her because she doesn't believe in spirit. She thinks it's all evil..😶🌫️
@nannettefreeman7331 My cousin cried How did you get the photograph of the old man in the pharmacy? This is my angel. I said yes. That's your grandfather. He came home Christmas Eve and Christmas day he would leave. It's sad because you were always sleeping whenever he would come in and you would completely miss him. Everything would be fine. How's he doing He's good. But you weren't. The medication was hurting you even more. My cousin is 54 this year. He has been seizure-free since he's been 19 and a half years old. Off of that diet. It took him a good year and a half to really fine-tune it. Lots of fat lots of protein. Still to this very day he seizure free.. I wish some of us could eat this diet. And enjoy these lovely foods. Unfortunately. For some of us it just won't work for us. But nonetheless my loved ones can eat this stuff. I still make it for them. I learned years ago how emotionally attached we are to our foods. I'll never forget crying the first time I didn't have a birthday cake. My grandfather owns a pastry business. I was so specific with my first birthday cake. White cake fluffy. Whipped cream icing with strawberries. He said he had to try all kinds of different ways of making whipped cream last and because of my request. The cake came out delicious. I had delicate little blue violet flowers and a beautiful singular blue rose. My grandfather credits his most popular wedding cake to me. Because I was so specific that I had to have whipped cream icing. It's very hard to make it stable. He found the stability within gelatin sheets. I'll never forget him bringing in the cake and I ran and grabbed this big pink comb. And I put ridges on the side of the cake with the comb everybody got mad and he was like let her do what she wants to her cake. I just wanted the whipped cream icing. And I wanted to pretend like I helped haha. To this very day that's his most popular wedding cake. That recipe is almost 45 years old. Oh that's so hilarious I actually had to think of how old I was.. 😆 and then take away a year. 🤔😶🌫️🤭🥳 Oh my gosh that just gave me the giggles. Hahaha 😂😅 My great grandfather, came through. In the flesh. Yet spirit. The day my cousin ran to get his mom whenever they went back in to the pharmacy the old man completely disappeared. And it wasn't until 7 years later that I had my experience with the doctor. And figured out that it was my great grandfather that came through. Wearing his beautiful black suit. His beautiful silk tie. Fedora hat. And he had a white beard that came down to his tummy. I'll never forget the last time I saw him. Sitting on his lap. I felt bad he was quite slim. And my bony butt was hurting his bony legs. So I went and got a pillow so it would be more comfortable and I could just relax and sit with him and enjoy him. He let me braid his beard and put bow ties and barrettes in his hair. Everyone was a little upset that I was doing that. Men should not be feminized. He told everyone to leave us alone. Step outside of our bubble he said. Haha He told the family. get ready I'm going to die this weekend. Nobody believed him. He did He died that weekend. My grandfather and I were exactly a hundred years apart from each other. He was born in 1877 and I was born in 1977. I can't tell you how amazing it was to hand my cousin that photograph. And that diet brought so much healing. I truly cried the day I realized oh my gosh I have to do that diet. No more cake for me. I truly realized how emotionally attached we are to our foods. How their intertwined with love and emotion. I cried like a teenage girl losing her boyfriend. Over 🍰🎂. Realizing. And learning that I needed to eat to live instead of live to eat. Because I really want to live. Especially where our world is going. I have skills. Good skills. I'm an herbalist. 26 years. I've taken after my great-grandfather. So proud of that. Truly I feel that he was a guide, and helped guide me on my path. It seems like every time I walked forward a door would open. I truly believe that he's been watching over all of us. Aren't those moments special. Holding them in your heart. And your soul. Our loved ones doing those things just to make something special for us. When something is made with love. Oh how much better it tastes. Much love to you and yours. May blessings always be at your feet and always be given by your hands.

You need to have an American mom or grandma do a full Thanksgiving dinner for the boys. This barely scratched the surface, and part of what is unique about Thanksgiving is the sheer quantity of dishes.
Yes, I agree, they should have to suffer like I did with my mom's 6-7 hour roasted bone dry turkey and the lumpy gravy. She did make awesome pies though.

I've had a British... Well, we started off as penpals in high school (I come from a small farming town in Kansas) then email buddies, and now we're Facebook friends. We've been communicating one way or another since we were around 14 or 15 (I'm 52 now). A few years ago, I sent her a couple of cans of pumpkin pie mix (which is a puree of pumpkin plus other gourds) and pumpkin pie seasoning for Christmas. The back of the can label has two different recipes for basic pumpkin pies. She and her husband found them quite delightful, and she told me how excited she was that they worked out.
I did something similar with my pen pal in South Africa. He gave me a mix to make bobotie, and I sent him syrup to make coffee milk (a regional Rhode Island thing).
Great story. I was looking for pen friends overseas after my dad retired and we moved back to the states. Met an amazing German friend on a very early website. We came together over our love of electro/industrial/ebm and goth music. He just sent me his first ep yesterday he’d been working. I’m so proud.

Maybe it's just an older custom, but my grandparents taught me to make the Thanksgiving sandwich. But it's just whatever you want from the original meal, because usually Thanksgiving "dinner" is at like 1 or 2pm. Mine is always just turkey and stuffing on bread with mayo. It's literally my favorite part of Thanksgiving 🤷♀️
I miss seeing Malachi, I hope I hear his "Shakespearean commentary " soon😅 I hope Jeremiah and the other year 10's who were here before will come in the next series🙏🏽
The last I saw them was when they went to the Korean grocery store.
I’m my opinion, stuffing is the absolute BEST thing abt thanksgiving dinner
Since we ate it every year, we should give these food to our european friends to try some
Yes. I can't do sweet potatoes and marshmallows. But brown sugar yes! Alternatively I will put my cranberry sauce with it. And it is amusing that when I say the pie I say Pee-can buy when I say the nut on it's own I say Puh-can
I think the lads were really open minded and maturely approached each food item. Well done. 🎉.
Malachi has grown up! 😄 He always has that face/look like he's about to say something comical or sarcastic. He cracks me up.
This is the second time I've watched this video and I get so emotional when the young man is thankful for his parents... like actually tears.
They're all so sweet with their thanks.
FYI I'm an American that can NOT stand sweet potato casserole.
These lads were all class. Respectful even when they didn’t like what they were trying. Well done
I was thinking the same thing. American kids would of either spit it out or said yuck.
Well they are British 😂😂
@@jennifermorrow2872 Or they would have dropped an F bomb.
Honestly, this freaked me out. You rarely see that many kids so classy and respectful in the US.
@jennifer morrow I was ready to be defensive over American kids….but then I thought about it. Yeah, most probably would.
No, really! ✌🏼
Great story!
You're making me hungry!
What a lovely thing for her to do!
Hahaha 😂😅
My great grandfather, came through.

For real. 😂😂😂😂

Seriously, you don't look forward to making a sandwich from leftovers? That's part of the Thanksgiving weekend tradition.
Maybe without the cranberry sauce lol! 🤣
That's a day after sandwich, be it thanksgiving, Canadian thanksgiving or x-mas!!
“How can you have Turkey and marshmallows together?”
As an American, I rolled my eyes. Then after pondering on the idea for a few seconds…dude kinda has a point. 😂
Tbf the marshmallow thing is a bit weird 😂
I never eat this. Savory and sweet doesn't do it for me. I don't understand it either.
To be fair, about half of us are anti marshmallows it seems like! And that's if people want sweet potatoes at all, a divisive side in the US In my experience. I prefer the dark horse option, sweet potato casserole with pecan streusel topping.
Candy yams
As a 47 year old American... I never heard of that or saw that in my life at any Thanksgiving dinner or anywhere else.
I was a teacher. So many people complain about “kids nowadays”, but really, how awesome are these kids!!!
What they said they were thankful for was so wholesome. As a millennial I think Gen Z and Alpha are lovely and very empathetic. I hope my generation breaks the trend of trashing the generations that come up after them.
When he said the pie was exquisite I said AWWWW
As an American I love the use of the words "exquisite" and "proper" to describe our food! ❤️❤️ Never had a Thanksgiving sandwich though lol.
Yes, it’s definitely a change from America High Schoolers excessive use of the “F-Bomb!

Me either, but I had a friend who couldn't cook at all and she wanted my bread dressing to make a sandwich. Bread stuffing between two slices of bread makes no sense.
It’s from friends

These are uppercrust kids. No pun intended. Look at their teeth. They have perfect teeth and the one kid has braces. These are not kids from working class families.

Waaaaaayyyy too much marshmallow on that sweet potato casserole. I wish they could try it again, but made correctly.
That said...love the reactions of these lovely young men!
I wonder what they'd think of greenbean casserole...
Too true. And it seems like every household has its own take on Thanksgiving meals.
im a younger mom but i took over cooking with my dad and i would love to make them a full spread for thanksgiving just as my family did when i was younger.
I volunteer! 😂
What a great story ty for sharing
I did something similar with my pen pal in South Africa. He gave me a mix to make bobotie, and I sent him syrup to make coffee milk (a regional Rhode Island thing).
Lovely Story❤
Great story. I was looking for pen friends overseas after my dad retired and we moved back to the states. Met an amazing German friend on a very early website. Met him in my early 20s we are still friends. He came to visit the states for the first with me in Florida I was so honored to be his guide. We came together over our love of electro/industrial/ebm and goth music. He just sent me his first ep yesterday he’d been working. I’m so proud.

"The British don't do flavor, do they?" from that one boy made me laugh so hard!
My sweet potato casserole:
SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE
3 c. sweet potatoes (2-24 oz. Cans, drained and mashed well)
1 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
¼ c. oleo (butter)
1/3 c. milk
Mix and pour into baking dish.
TOPPING
1 c. light brown sugar
½ c. flour
1/3 c. oleo (butter)
1 c. finely chopped pecans
Bake at 350F about 35 to 45 minutes, until top is crusty.
That’s mine but I start with fresh sweet potatoes. It’s the bedt
As an American it is fun to watch these British fellas respond to our holiday traditions. 😊
How do you guys even come up with this questionable cuisine...🤣
