    If you look at your life, it's a carousel. Once down, then up. Good and bad, but this is life !! You are lucky to find someone with whom you can experience this. So watch out for it. I really liked the processing.

    Amazing as always, Sonny! I like the lower range of this one. I sang this in Men’s Glee Club in college, back in the late 80s. I’ve always liked this song.

    • @sgtsonny
      @sgtsonny  4 роки тому

      Awesome! I actually never really loved this one. Probably because it has become a soccer anthem. So it kind of lost all meaning for me. But in these times I started listening to the original again and found this great arrangement by Kohl Kitzmiller and I was hooked :D

  • @sonyahannah
    @sonyahannah 4 роки тому +6

    Yes, this fits PERFECTLY into "the spirit of these difficult times." Thank you so much, Sonny, for sharing your talents and your years of vocal work so freely -- I needed this song today. [It DELIGHTS me to note how many subscribers you have!]

    • @sgtsonny
      @sgtsonny  4 роки тому +2

      The amount of subscribers is all very relative, so I do my best not to get to involved in that. I picked the wrong genre and style of videos to get a huge amount, so I'm very happy with what's been thrown at me :).
      Thanks so much for the kind words. It really means a lot. I put off recording this tune for a long time, because the fact that it's become a huge soccer anthem really took the beauty out of it for me. But hearing it on the radio a few times in a week's time (because of Corona) the beauty and strong message really hit me. So I needed to record it :).

  • @janetranslates
    @janetranslates 4 роки тому +1

    Sonny, how do you do that? You make each one of you sound different--I don't even know how to describe it. I've noticed and commented on this before, but this song showcases solos from different voices, and when a new one comes in, it does NOT sound like the same person singing in a different register. Each voice has a different color. I give up; I can't describe what I mean. But it's amazing.

    • @sgtsonny
      @sgtsonny  4 роки тому +2

      Hahaha I know exactly what you mean. I do actually give each singer his own personality (be it ever so subtle). So I'm super glad that somebody notices :D. You'll find for instance that the bass has similar facial expressions on every video which differ in just tiny amounts from the lead for instance. It came rather naturally. Apparently for me the bass is the composed cool guy and lead the demonstrative drama queen. Speaking from experience about those leads ☺️

    • @janetranslates
      @janetranslates 4 роки тому

      @@sgtsonny I've mentioned before about noticing the different personalities, but I was mainly thinking of facial expressions and other body language. On this video I was more aware of the audio aspect rather than the visual--or, I should say, in addition to the visual. (Yeah, as a contralto, I have some experience with lead singers, too. Especially annoying when they can't read music because they've always sung melody.) Do you have a description of the other two personalities? When you record, do you think about getting into character before you start, or does it just come naturally?

    • @sgtsonny
      @sgtsonny  4 роки тому +1

      Haha I said I spoke from experience, because I used to be a lead in my barbershop quartet :D. But you're absolutely right about those pesky leads ;).
      The characters come very naturally, it's not like I have a written plan for every character or anything. I don't even think about it. It really just grew on me. I guess they're all subtle stereotypes of the basses, leads, baritones and tenors I've come to know over the years :). The baritone is much like a toned down lead in body language, very much involved in what the lead is conveying. The tenor is a little island on his own. I always picture him as a very proud guy who likes to show off the high notes whilst never overshadowing the lead. He knows he's good, but if you'd compliment him about it, he'd just brush it off as nothing special. You're gonna start thinking I suffer from a multiple personality disorder :D.

    Deep meaning. From a Christian View:
    Walk (living life)
    Storm (challenges)
    Hold your up your high (look up to God and pray)
    Dark (evil)
    Golden Sky (Heaven)
    Sweet Silver Song of a Lark (Angels)
    Dreams be tossed and blown (pressure, prosecution, failures)
    You Will Never Walk Alone (I will always be with you till the end of time - Jesus.)
