    probably a good idea to have the bottle neck down instead of up. that way any rain that does manage to go inside the bottles itself can easily be contained within the bottle and pour itself into the next bottle and so forth till it reaches the ground.

    You know with the amount of bottles that go to landfills, the unhoused/homeless could have a structure made from recycled materials. I’ve also seen someone make a boat out of plastic water bottles. There is so much that could be done with recycled materials.

    November 2019: The State of California has A CRV (Calif. Redemption Value) program.
    I describe it like those luggage cart corrals at the airport; one pays, like say, a quarter and the corral vends the cart. When the corral get the cart back, you get your coin back. This program works similarly. When you buy your drink, the CRV shows on your receipt next to the tax. When you return the cans and bottles, you get the CRV back.
    Unfortunately, as of September 2019, quite a few of those recycle "take back" stations have closed down. (I don't know why, maybe lack of funding.)
    With that info in mind, I am relieved that you have a good idea. I think I've seen this video before because the space between the bottles jumped out at me last time too.

    Hi. I saw a random comment about a plastic bottle greenhouse ~ typed it in... Do you know how many came up?!! *_so glad I clicked on yours_* no need to look further. You have lots about you, I like the way you think, and like your accent. Subbed and looking forward to catching up on some of your work. *One question* I noticed you threw a whole cabbage in for the worms... do they really get through that?!

    • @jackspatch14
      @jackspatch14  5 років тому +2

      Earth Dog dude you’ve made my day! I’m gonna bring a lot of content in 2019. The ratio to your last question is a handful of worms can eat a handful of food in a day! Madness

    That's a tiny greenhouse but it looks like it is large enough to seed starting and seedlings if you have some way to heat it. You need to figure some way to close those gaps at the top and wherever else you have any.

    • @jackspatch14
      @jackspatch14  5 років тому +2

      L. J. Bush appreciate your feed back. I worked with the space I had at the time. The holes allowing airflow and kept it from going over in a storm. It was more of a showcase to show how to upcycle but it grew me lovely chilli’s and peppers in the summer. Not one for sowing seeds in spring as it’s not warm enough.

    Could you not put a screw through the lid of the bottle to attach it to the wood Barton then screw the bottle into the lid just as you would put a lid on a bottle and canes are so expensive so I’m going to look at an alternative way to stack the bottles.

    • @jackspatch14
      @jackspatch14  2 роки тому

      Do as you please but the way you suggest has far too many gaps an will defeat the objects. By cutting the bottles you allow oxygen and make a geo thermic wall which insulates the greenhouse via the sun and trapped air warming up in the bottles

  • @grahamwassell2554
    @grahamwassell2554 4 роки тому

    Magic luv it fella 1 question how many canes you buy to complete the job

  • @mayflower_3

    so what about those areas between the bottless that have some space the cold or snow still comes thru?

  • @snowyg357
    @snowyg357 6 років тому +1

    why does everyone leave these gaps at the top? I'd cut the top 1/3 of the bottle, flip it, and put the flatter part of the bottom as the top to each stack tower.
    I enjoyed the video thanks for making it.

    • @jackspatch14
      @jackspatch14  6 років тому +1

      G M I’d agree with you, pre-build. But if I didn’t have them, the wind wouldn’t cut through it like it does. By having the gaps, it let’s storm wind pass through it, in which has stopped it from getting flattened

    • @snowyg357
      @snowyg357 6 років тому

      There are still the gaps between the bottles to accommodate storms. I was thinking I could also dig into the ground with the post stakes and rocks before backfilling to give better rigidity to the building. What do you think?
      Also if the storms are hitting that hard, won't the plants be adversely affected by the cold wind?

    • @jackspatch14
      @jackspatch14  6 років тому

      G M I’d look at the 4 posts in each corner having post spikes for etc ridgity. Do what you thinks best bro. We all do it our own way. Always a learning process!
      I don’t grow much in the cold. But it does a great job of keeping the chill out. The bits that get through are minor
