How to make 3D Glasses into 2D Glasses, What?!

- Hello. Thanks for checking out my channel and for watching this video. This is a short video on how to convert two pairs of 3D glasses that you get at the movie theater into 2D glasses. This is convenient for people who have friends and family that may not like watching 3D movies, but still want to enjoy the experience with you! Feel free to comment below and to check out my other videos!
The left lens views a different angle of light (polarity) than the right lens. For example, think of it like slits in a piece of paper. The left lens has horizontal slits, while the right lens has vertical slits. Therefore, the left lens only views horizontal lines of light, while the right lens views vertical lines of light, figuratively speaking. That way each eye is viewing something slightly different, which under the proper conditions produces a 3D effect.
I have a few friends who don't like 3d movies, but I want them to enjoy the movie with me. So I thought it would be easier if they could view the 3d movies in 2d so we could watch it together.
Some people don't like 3D movies. So this way you can bring your friend or significant other to the movies with you.
I thought that would work too, but it won't. It changes the polarity of the lens making them once again 3D glasses.
Well, I would probably do this at home so you can take them to future movies.
i stole a 3D glasses
Well, great.. Stealing is not the answer fool.. Buy some, there like a dollar..
True. That might work, but ust to be safe, I'd still take 2 glasses. Even though flipping it does change the polarity, the angle of light produced the lens may be slightly off from the lens you leave in place, making the image somewhat distorted. Making the 2D pair out of two left lenses or two right lenses ensures that both lenses will view the same angle of light.
I like this discussion. Total nerd here though.
we live in a 3D world becuase Time, although a dimension, yes, however it is a temporal dimension, not spacial. We can't see through 3D objects if time is affecting it (aka motion.) Spacial dimensions and temporal dimensions are related but do not affect each other in the ways we can notice easily
No, life is 3-D because if it were 2-D, how could we walk forward, backward, left, right, up and down? that requires the use of the x, y, and z axes of the spacial planes. However, we would be able to see through solid objects IF we lived in a 4-D world.
What you got is lefty righty glasses, and some tv/games give you two pictures at the same time, to see two different pictures. Actually, you just need to flip one lens 180°, does the same thing.
They probably, especially after making them into 2d glasses. They'd be like polarized sunglasses, however, I'm not sure if they are the correct polarization for our sun light (they probably are not.)
If that's the case then why do you need 2 pair of glasses to make this mod?
Seems like the same result could be achieved with only 1 pair of glasses by flipping only 1 lens then, no?
thats because the object isnt there anymore. and the blur that we see during motion is just an underadjustment because our brains combine all of the images togetther
But you'll bend the lens. I tried it:(
I heard of others having the same issue with that movie. I just saw it yesterday in 3D and I was OK.
Then why do you need 2 glasses in the first place? couldn't you just flip over one lens instead of swapping it with the other?
DAMN! i need to try this, as i have a slightly 'lazy' right eye which makes watching 3d films really annoying. Thanks!
What is the difference Between 2D and 3D? I know it the effects on how the movie looks But Really what is the difference ?
This was actually pretty hard to do both of my glasses broke and on one I wasn't even able to get the lenses out and the part where it should have that it tells you it's right or left wasn't even there it was like cut out so I have no idea why but in the end it didn't work out for me at all it sucked and now I have two pairs of perfectly fine 3d glasses broken and unwearable... :(
Bummer :/ They can be difficult to take apart depending on the manufacturer
Because then you would see a weird seperated-ish picture. With the lens this way the picture is complete but not 3D.
well, i have 3D glasses but not like those you have!
brand LG and working with battery that you put in a place between the two glasses, and has a power button, that i turn it on when i watch a 3D movie. then for a sec a flash light goes on the glasses and turn 3D on !
Very nice. Ya, these are the cheap ones you get at the movie theater.
But you know like 3D, it stands like out from the screen and is fuzzy would your friends not get a headache?
This should work great for dual screen first person shooters on my LG 3DTV. Thanks!
Good point. Thanks for watching! I actually kind of like the way these look on me as well. ha
Wait ... If you make 2d lens wouldn't that make the movie all blurry ?
No because each lens would be seeing the same polarity of light. If you took the glasses off it would then look blury.
That should be a "just to be safe" not "ust to be safe" :) Thanks for watching!
ha. No, unfortunately not.
you are probably right, but it does appear that you can see through a 3d object in motion....
I can watch just about any new movie whit my 2D glasses
Black Objetcs on a Black backgound ... u must be clever (y) !
i love your videos though ;)
Late response, but thanks!
If you take the glass out the picture is doubled but I'd you do this it becomes normal
Yes! it should anyways.
Hi dude i was hopin u answear my question i got the same real d 3d glases that u have put the thing it that if i watch a video at my pc or t.v they just wont work even knowing that the 3d is turend on the tv pls answear
So you have a 3D TV? I am not sure what you are asking.
when i watch a video at youtube with this glases it doesnt work same as watching it without glases
Ha, I meant that I am a nerd too. But I'm glad you are proud!
You could always flip the plastic lens to the little tab goes on the left side.
Yes I've used them.
Only the best are.
You are welcomed!
Do 2d glasses make real life 2d
Is it possible to make sunglasses out of the 3d glasses thinking if it could if so can you show us how
That's a really good idea. I'll look into it. I like the look of some of them, especially the black pair I show in this video.
Yes, ha.
We're living in a 4D world cause the time is the 4th dimension...
Thanks!
loophole into watching any 3d movie and skipping out on the price, go to different 3d movies once and get the glasses and keep up and have them with you at all times, then that way all you would need to do is buy a ticket to a different movie and you sneak into the 3d movie and presto you can see a 3d movie for the same price as a original !
It's easy, take out the lenses
Yeah.. that will make the movie blurry, the way this works is that the movie screen is portraying 2 movies, and the light is being filtered by the glasses, each eye is filtered differently. So by taking a left side lens and replacing it with a right side lens, it will give you 2 of the same filtered lenses which will only show you 1 of the 2 movies.
hey, i dont get it, why not just dont wear the glasses then?
the projector uses 2 images at the same time but 1 meant left and the other for right eye. the glasses filters for you wich image you need for left and right. 2 lefts filters only the image meant for left eye so both eyes seeing the same image meant for the right eye, thats why you will have a 2d effect. this is the simple explanation.
the correct explanation is that the filters outfilter vertical lines and horizontal lines in the same image so you get 3d, its called polarization of the eyes. for example 2 vertical filterglasses filter for you the horizontalimage for both eyes hence you get the 2d effect. its as sharp as the 3d image you normally see with left and right. a nice feature when watching 3d and close one eye you see the picture in 2d for as long you close one eyelid.
+Tim de schipper k
Thanks! ha. Responding a month late...ha.
I don't really understand why you would need to do this?
Whos going to bring a screw driver to the movie theter?
Yep I know I'm a nerd and d*mn proud of it too! ;D
For the misfitting lens can't you just flip it? Is there something here that I should know?
Sebin Oh you shouldnt flip it, then the lense doesn't work anymore
I was wondering the same thing. from what I saw in another video, the lense converts circular to linear. so if you tried the other way it might, not work. I wonder if the theater has 2D glasses you can just ask for for your mate that doesn't want to see 3D?
DO A MAGIC BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REAL GOOD MY FATHE HATES 3D UT HE LOVES 2D THANKS FOR THE TIP
You're welcome!
If you don't wear 3D glasses to a movie it will look silly and blurry, does this really make it clear as 2D?
+Brian Prost the projector uses 2 images at the same time but 1 meant left and the other for right eye. the glasses filters for you wich image you need for left and right. 2 lefts filters only the image meant for left eye so both eyes seeing the same image meant for the right eye, thats why you will have a 2d effect. this is the simple explanation.

+Tim de schipper Interesting :)
Brian Prost didnt expect you to read everything, thats cool :)
the reason it is blurt without glasses is because two images are being shown at one time. the glasses block one of them for one and and the other image is blocked for the other eye. if you convert the glasses then you merely block the one image for BOTH eyes and the other image doesn't interfere.
2-D things are flat bro..
who have 2d glasses??
:D or were to buy it
one question.......whats spoofy....????O_O
Ha, nice.
Can u were them as sunglasses
TI9ERCLAW STUDIOS The glasses say not to.
Can you wear then as sunglasses*
I`m so proud of myself to put first like
Thinkgeek sells 2D glasses for 9 bucks.
and so have i and i didnt bend the lens
you can use this for LG's dual play
Why not just take off the glasses?
so whats the point of turning 3d glasses into 2d glasses??? i dont get it
Can't pry mine open.... The ones we get in Switzerland are exactly the same model but they are impossible to dismantle.
Same here
Thanks for the tip.
Left handed people are genius.
I couldn't even get the arm things off
Some of them can be tricky depending on the type of glasses the theater uses. Luckily, my pair wasn't too hard. Maybe try a new pair (different style).
wtf is 2d noooobs 4d best
Thanks!
YAY LEFT HANDERZ UNITE!!!!
lol. I should totally do a video about being left handed.
Plz Answer This Are U Left Handed
Yes I am. Can you tell from the video?
have you ever thought of making a bunch of these and selling them?
It would be pretty cool, I just don't know if people would buy them.
2d-glasses.com already did that
Do you know how to make
Nerd glasses
ha. Just wrap some white fabric or tape around the middle of a black plastic frame like I show in this video.
Thats prety spify lil
Never mind I get it
You're left handed?
How does this work?
omg that's so cool
brake the glasses my i can fix
Just get another pair when you go to the movies:)
xD im lefthanded.
is it works?????
Noooo!
where to buy it
why make it ?
here is a question why didn't you just take out the lends
i hope youve gotten smarter in the past five years
Ciaran Gale lmao
Thats weird
or a medal?
Kk thx. Ima make one.
where i can find this glasses ?
Couldn't you just put them on upside down?
No each individual lens is polarized differently so you can see but images projected, if you have two lens polarized the same you will only see one image and it will not appear 3D
realy realy good
Thanks!
Awesomeness!!
Me left handed!
Only the best are!
RichsMethods Left handed people are in their right mind. =)
And everyone else is jealous.
Lol your just like
"OMG I LOVE 3D MOVIES WANNA COME?!??"
"no, 3D sucks"
"DUDE THE LANGUAGE!"
"sorry"
"HERE TAKE THIS "2D glasses" Omg, they're 2D 😏 wanna come??"
"Sure"
*movies over*
"Please put your glasses back everyone, glasses go back!"
"Fine"
*puts 2D glasses in the 3D receptacle"
*next movie is on*
"Please reuse these glasses"
*someone puts on the 2D glasses expecting 3D glasses, and watches movie and complains about the glasses*
"Sorry man, some people like RUINING PEOPLES MOVIES SO THEY WASTE THEYRE MONEY ON THE 3D VERSION!"
THATS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER
USE THE MOVIE THEATRE TO MAKE
2D GLASSES! Or you can keep the glasses
and go to jail...
Lol jk
I'm not sure if that
Last part was true...
lol
+Brian Prost I don't think you its illegal to take the glasses. However, that would be a surprise. "I'm sorry sir, you just took some of the theater's property. We're placing you under arrest for something you already technically paid for. Come with me..."
+RichsMethods do the 2-D glasses make the movie all blurry like it would when you don't where 3-D glasses to a movie theatre, or do they make the movie look clear, but not pop-out?
+Brian Prost or you can buy your glasses before going to the theatres and save some money.
Handy
Thanks!
