- The text of the song was written around 1920 in circles of the Bündnische Jugend using text parts of the poem "I am the poor Kunrad" by Heinrich von Reder (1885), the melody was written by Fritz Sotke (1919). Stylistically, the text is based on the demands and rhetoric of the peasants during the Peasant Wars, an anticlerical tendency is clear.

@ Dr. Ludwig wollte mich erstmal bedanken für die ganzen Lieder die du hier hochlädst. Allerdings denke ich, dass das Bild nicht das Beste für das Lied ist. Ich denke dies, weil der Schwarze Haufen eine Landsknecht Truppe war, die wenig Reiterei eingesetzt hat!?
