When I asked her how she knew this song and, more importantly, where she learned German from, she replied that she comes from East Prussia and that she fled to Palestina at the time of the Third Reich. She said that she is dreaming of returning to Germany to spend her last days there and to die in her home country Germany. but since east prussia no longer exists, it makes no sense for this woman to leave israel. she told me stories about germany and how beautiful this country should be and her stories motivated me to learn the german language. My post here for eagle mentions. Where eagle and meaning came from, and when passed away. Germany had historical heritage of holy roman empire, till 1945, it died with third reigh. Russia had historical heritage from eastern roman empire, it died in 1917. Those eagles. Both nations could be best friends and united could form new "roman empire". I love this song. it does a really good job of painting the bleak picture of an exhausted army with no place to return to and little hope of victory. And yet in the chorus there's this spark of defiance that i think is really quite beautiful.

when i was in the city of haifa in israel i met an elderly woman sitting on her property in front of her house where she sang this song to her grandchildren.
Und mittlerweile beherrsche ich die deutsche sprache sogar sehr gut und bin sogar in der lage im beruf deutsch zu benutzen. Aus dem grund verbindet mich dieses lied sehr stark zu Deutschland.

Kirgistan, Usbekistan, Kasachstan...all are ruled by some pathetic meatheads and disgusting servile administration that should all end rather in some boot camps than having any kind of power.
@@RodrigoBorgia thanks for the nice compliments, that's very kind of you.
the problem with the ex soviet republics is because that there were so many undemocratic parties and organizations during the collapse of the soviet union. these organizations overran the governments of the respective countries and the later military and financial aid from russia allowed the dictators to retain their power. i mean check out kasakstan. i believe that the "(president)" has been ruling for 25 years and only with russian aid could uprisings be prevented. In addition, the governments ensure that the people are as premitive and uneducated as possible so that they never get the idea of rebelling. that's why i went to israel immediately after i found out that i had jewish ancestry because i am able to study intelligently there and to live in a democracy. I definitely hope that one day democracy and progress will come to these countries.
