    I bought my car with 82k had the oil changed at 85k as I was traveling. I’ve since changed it every 5k it went through a slight oil burning stage for 15k at around 110k but once the rings cleaned up with the 5k oil change with Kirkland 0w20 it has completely stopped. The 2nd owner only changed it twice in 44k. I love Kirkland oil and it’s price.

    I’ve been using Kirkland synthetic 5W-30 in my 1998 Accord V/6 since it came on the market. Absolutely no problems! I’m going to switch our 2002 CR V to Kirkland 5W-20 at next oil change. Costco has it on sale at $39.99 CDN for two jugs. I like Mobile 1 but there’s no reason to spend close to $40 CDN for one jug when I can get two for about the same money. Good video, thanks!

    Same as Super Tech. Manufacture by Warren Distribution which has been around for 100 years. The full synthetic is great oil. Just change your oil every 5,000 miles. It’s also the same oil sold with the Amazon name.

    One tip, when you don't have a camera in your hand, poor the oil out from the bottle by holding it sideways, the oil will pour smoother, go glug glug glug.

    Excellent video. We’re middle aged guys that know the value of a dollar, plus doing the oil change yourself you know it’s done right. Look into getting the valvomax oil drain system. You’d love it. It’s better than the Fumoto in my opinion especially if you have snow that can build up at the end of the driveway after the city plows snow. It’s stainless steel and made well. Think it’s around 50 bucks but it so worth it. Jmo. Take care!

    Chris - some great basic do-it-yourself maintenance for hopefully new viewers that you can bring to the channel. I change my oil on 'the 5's' which makes it super easy to remember. I won't let the car tell me when its oil needs to be changed, like you mentioned cheap insurance and I rely on my vehicles for long service life. 200K on my '13 Edge, 376K on my '97 F250.

    I have been using Kirkland oil for the last 40K miles on my 15 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 , and I always use Wix filters , I also bought an AFM delete module that plugs into the OBD port, it stops the truck from going into 4 cylinder mode and keeps it on 8 cylinder at all times.

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  10 місяців тому

    • @markman7
      @markman7 10 місяців тому

      Just as a FYI, I have a good friend who has been a GM dealer mechanic for over 30 years, and he has told me that the AFM delete module will not prevent lifter failures.

    • @jeffreyreim5512
      @jeffreyreim5512 9 місяців тому

      I won't prevent it altogether but in theory it should delay it. Most lifter failure occurs when cylinders reengage after having been shut down in AFM/DFM. Disabling cylinder deactivation should prevent the most common event when lifter failure occurs, which is reengagement. But he is right in that the parts are faulty and they can fail when in V8 mode also.

    • @lalo4406
      @lalo4406 7 місяців тому

      I have heard the same, but looking through UA-cam found some mechanics that say if you change your oil regularly it seems to help, I have always believed that changing oil often was more important than what type of oil you use, I will say with the AFM delete module truck runs with alot more response, but wastes more gas about 1-2 MPG less.

    • @rocketrodlover
      @rocketrodlover 26 днів тому

      Never put ANYTHING in your OBD port except a scan tool. Those ports are for diagnosing engine codes not for plugging dongle’s in long-term. You can fry your computer overtime doing that.

    Kirkland is completely fine oil. I been using it for the last 3 years since I started to do oil changes in my own car. It is a small 1.6l engine... and this box of oil lasts me 3 oil changes since a full oil change only requires 2.7 liters for my small engine. The value is insanely good!

      @@chriscaliente5033…. I worked in truck shop, my boss told me use generic oil in their trucks, even truckers asked put in name brand rotalla oil which is more expensive. I wasn’t very happy with that. I quit and later the truck shop was shut down and ordered pay huge fines. City went after them for dumping chemicals, oil and gas down the drain. Ordered clean, fill pits with concrete. It’s unbelievable. I took them to court got myself fair settlement. Oh well..

    Most importantly, the oil meets Dexos standards, so I would use it too, but I usually try to get a deal on Mobil1 when they offer rebates. Also, I find it a little less messy if I poke a hole in the filter with a screwdriver so it drains before I remove it.

    There's nothing wrong Kirkland oil. To the best of my knowledge, it's made by Warren Distribution. Who also makes Supertech. Warren Distribution, when tested, is competitive with the big name oils. Kirkland oil with a quality oil filter at regular service intervals an# you'll put hundreds of thousands of miles on your vehicle.

    All these oils are industry approved so you can't go wrong, just purchase a good 10,000 mile or better filter, even if you change oil every 5,000 miles and use a punch in the center of your old filter and let it drain from there. A lot cleaner.
