My biggest issues are 1) so many pitchers being able to throw 100-103. Its just not realistic. In years past, you might have a couple of guys that might be able to touch that velocity, but it was a gradual ramp up until end game. 2) zero penalty for bringing in starters as a reliever, completely cold, and not having it impact performance. Again, not realistic at all. I love this franchise - but I'm really struggling to see where it goes from here to keep people invested. In years past, it was a mostly slow grind until endgame to get the best cards but you could see your squad getting better and it was satisfying. My squad is mostly all 99s now, so what's my incentive to grind?
maybe they just want it more competitive between the Gods of MLB like you and the more lower skilled tier player. I am not putting you down at all, I wish I had your talent tbh, even with grinding and practice I feel I could never achieve that. I do spend quite a lot of time on MLB during the season, mostly CAP tbh, not necessarily to play on my Diamond Team, I just enjoy the game of Baseball. I kinda like seeing a less experienced/tier player get to not only obtain, but use the same cards the higher tier players use (as you mentioned some really great cards lil to cheap, well WAY to cheap) still I like the tough of a more level playing field that way at least you feel you might have a chance. Yes, of course I feel you should be rewarded for grinding_so yea have some card rewards of players that produce, and cannot sale. (kinda like the beginning cards you have mentioned.) I guess I just like seeing I can use the same card as you without having to grind 20 hrs a week or pay top stubs to feel like I got chance (regardless of skill play level.) I fully get the point of this video, Great Video man. Keep it up and the YT Algorithms gonna scoop you up. CLOSER: Also SDS also needs re-write the RNG for packs. I completed the WBC, did not draw one 99 Diamond. That's Garbage.
I appreciate the kind words man. Don’t want the game to become pay to win or anything like that. I’m fine with the cards like 99 Trout being somewhat cheap. I always try to look at everything from SDS’a point of view, the “normal”, casual player, as well. Say your average player gets 99 Trout, and since he’s cheap, and there’s no other card that rivals that Trout for 5 weeks, there is no incentive for a player to keep engaging with the game. Even my IRL friends, who are more causal players, feel the same way as us DD diehards that play every day. I hope that clears it up a little bit
Very well said. I think you speak for the majority of the player base with everything you mentioned. The biggest concern we all had with the high overalls available day one was exactly this. It’s going to get stale. Fast. The best cards in the game are way too attainable for the average player, it should feel rewarding to earn cards that are locked into difficult modes. I think SDS is just running into a problem of “you can’t please everyone” and “damned if you do, damned if you don’t”. I don’t envy them. Gameplay as a whole though has certainly improved.

Game studios need to make money. While the true grinders are important, casting a big net to players who don't have the skills to grind for 99s is why they do things like, frustrating for pros but better for business if more people are playing and find the grindnaccesible.
Not to hate or anything, but this game caters to casuals more than any other sports franchise imo. Tons of free cards to earn, very easy to earn stubs and the market is very cheap. It’s very consumer friendly

Remember we can only use cards from set 1 until the end of June at which point those cards will no longer be able to be used so right now it may feel like there isn't much variance with 99 overalls but soon enough they will be phased out by cards in the set 2 and set 3 collections.
I understand that but July 7, when set 3 starts, is over 2 months away, and this it PRIME MLB season. We can’t just say “oh in 2 months it’ll be better”. It shouldn’t be the standard.
Set 3 isn’t for a while tho. You can’t drop 99 Trout Day 1 and then a bunch of mid cards in between for 5 weeks until set 2. It needs to be more balanced.

This is silly to mention, but I have only pulled 4 diamonds out of packs this year. 1st, was Pete Alonso Live Series, 2nd Ketel Marte, 3rd Tatis Live Series, 4th Kete Marte. That card has been have my Diamond Pulls
When season 3 comes around Chipper will be everyone’s Wildcard and those “pointless” CORE Mexico City Series cards will be legit. I am almost at 160 for SERIES I collected and then I am going to start finishing up my CORE collections. That way when Series 3 comes out I should have Jeter, Sosa and McGuire. We will see how people feel when everyone’s team’s essentially reset in July. That all said, you’re incredibly valid. My “God Squad” has been stacked with the same guys for almost a month now. SDS has to start bringing in better 99s. This POTM program isn’t too bad. That Carlos Santana card 👀👀 Gotdamn!
They had a good idea for lineup diversity when they brought the captain series boosts into the game, but they really screwed it up and buried captains when they decided to flood the game with 99s on day 1

Packs are worthless this year (I’ve pulled like 2 base diamond lives through ALL of the free packs through programs), and they give you like 1 Ballin pack TOTAL in a program. Nah. I also just wish they’d do how Madden does chemistry’s with ex players get the small boost like, say, Freddie Freeman, gets the braves boost due to his previous affiliations. Is it me or are most of the 99 cards SDS puts out each week worse rhan what they already had at launch? Cards except for 99 Griffey, Realmuto, Posada, and a cpl relievers.. For example, Kiner. He was kust released and there's no way he cracks my bench, let alone my stsrting squad. And his swing is too heavy..
There are different seasons. With a new season comes new cards. Season 2 starts in like a week and that’s when new card will come out. This video makes no sense especially a few days before that new season 2 starts

It’s not about dropping 99s early. It’s about dropping cards like 99 Trout Day 1 and dropping mid content that can’t compete with that for the rest of the set.

So now 99s be a little more niche and people wouldn't mind grinding the programs with lower tier cards

1st yr playing DD if they want casual players to keep playing they need to give them ways to get these cards. Not base it on wins basically.
