@@highlycoooed8749 / So what was the foundation of that very well thought out decision?
Oh , ok
I have a keyboard cover over my keyboard plus I don’t drink and eat near a computer
Fun fact: Windows has a feature called as sticky keys if you press the shift key a lot
lmaooooo
ok
Too much Minecraft I guess huh
@@luca3459 what has that to do with minecraft lol
@Rat pressing shift on Minecraft to crouch too many times, that’s at least how I remember it.
It’s all fun and games until you break the tiny clips under the keys, and they don’t click back on😭
I’ve done that. I had to order new ones from replacement keys 😂That’s what I get.
id cry im not doing this xd
You have to slide downward I think(don't quote me on that)
Find your year and model #. It should be on the backside of you Mac Book pro. Then find a video that shows how to remove the clips on that model/year. This is really important as different years are really different and how you approach prying them off and putting them back on makes a BIG difference: those little clips are FRAGILE and once you bust them you have to buy replacement parts and it's probably totally unnecessary as it is probably only some kind of dirt or debri under the clip causing problems. The way the guy in this video pried that clip off makes me nervous, but this is also a quick video. Do more research.
Same that happened with my right command 😭 good thing I never use it.
"Stick icky uh" got me 😂

the part where you clean the spacebar is very detailed and highly useful. thank you for your superb guidance.

They really took sticky keys to another level
Here's something you didn't know; PRG's first video on UA-cam is him removing the back glass of a phone using a laser machine.

Let's go new short always the best part of my day!
ive had my macbook pro 2015 since 2016 and its so good its so clean and it gets the job done nicely
what a coincidence, I noticed last night that my x key on my M1 MacBook Air was really mushy compared to the others, and it turns out that it had like this weird gunk from food probably on like the side of the key, but on the inside. I didn't pull if off but I peeled it back and scraped away at the gunk with some tweezers and the key works perfectly now
Just disable sticky keys
@@JustAFurrylol XD
That was probably dead skin, I get that all the time with my laptop/mouse
heyy thats illegal of you to put linus pfp if you are a mac user
You just saved my "S" key.
- My laptop (Macbook Air M1),
- my fingers,
- and my mental sanity
are so grateful to you.
Thanks for this concise and actionable video!
PS: The hard part is popping the key out,
I used a plastic spudger from a Macbook repair-kit to slide the flat edge under the key.
I had to use force and it took me like 7 attempts to get it right. No damage done.
Then I had to take a picture and zoom to see a vast amount of dust and possible tiny crumbs.
A dry blow from my mouth did the trick,
Finishing with a q-tips (but wasn't necessary for me).
Replacing the key and pressing all around did the trick but not right away.
I had to "massage" the key for 2 minutes to totally get it in place.
I'm now using this key to type this message and it's so pleasurable.
I had this issue for over a month.
Alcohol is the last thing you should use on keyboard internals. Once alcohol comes into contact with the adhesive holding the membrane, it permanently loosens it, and there's no way to reattach it.
What should I use then
Love the videos man

It’s a good idea to take it apart and make sure no liquid got inside the computer. Liquids specially sweet ones are very hard to dry and always leave residue. Also stickiness in the keys is a pita especially if it got in more than 4 keys, the only way to get it good as new is replacing the topcase.
Also, removing the keys with a metal tool may damage it. Use a plastic tool instead.
@@donovanacosta2138 its flexible metal, not what you think mate.
@@rektsoul1595 I have the same tool. It is thin metal, still metal though. Metal scratches specially when used against thin plastic keys, it can even break them.
Don’t remove the keys like that at all. They are made to unclip on the bottom, and the. Slide off. If you just pry them off there is a good chance the clips will break
According to other comments it depends on the MacBook model, not all are the same
Windows: do you have sticky keys?
MacOS: Yes, but actually no
I tell my students. Don't take your laptop to the beach to study. They never listen. A few hundred dollars worth of repairs later they learn the hardware.
“quick vacuum” “WAHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIII”
thank you, so helpful
Just a lil suggestion, you could have brushed first before vacuuming just saying
Butter knife.
Old school pc repair.
I actually have the exact same macbook and I did this trick on mine since the space inbetween the keeys kept getting dirty.. this fixed it thanks!
Thanks! It helped
Dude that key removal hurt my soul. Macbooks have clips on the bottom of the keys and a sliding mechanism on top. You should keep your finger on top of the key so you don't break the sliding mechanism. If it breaks, the whole keyboard is done. It's not worth taking the risk of not putting your finger on top.
Plus, it helps with the key not flying off like that.
Anyway, love your videos.
I had to do this before
I needed this
lesson of the video: dont prest shift 20 times b j
I got a macbook with a qwertz layout and I always wanted to just swap the Z and Y on it but I've always been terrified of removing keycaps because of how the keyboard is fused now, but you made it look so easy lmao
If the MacBook you have has a butterfly keyboard then don’t do it. Only the key caps of MacBooks with scissor switches can be removed like this.
@@עומרגור-ק2ד it's the one with scissor switches

Iced tea? My favorite drink of all time along with fruit punch. And yes, I never got any water spilt on any of my electronics. It’s bad for electronics.
Many thanks!
Man, idk why apple doesn’t support small repair shops. They could sell their own, apple original replacement parts to them
You saved me from a good beating thanks lol im subbing ❤❤

“It’s more complicated” *fast forward to done*.
Why did I appreciate that vacuum noise so much
Shouldn’t she be worried about liquid damage? Or is the MacBook keyboards sealed enough to protect against spills?
Yup
Yeah. I give this MacBook a month. Then it'll die from corrosion.
Nah it was only a little, it’ll be fine
@@PhoneRepairGuru love ur vids broo
@@PhoneRepairGuru oh ok that’s good to hear
I would’ve just taken a wet wipe and cleaned it until it was no longer sticky.
Then again, I’m not dumb enough to eat or drink near my bigger electronics. I’d drink clean water at most.
I got a Dell business laptop after my macbook air died because it was in my backpack while I walked through the rain. I've been abusing the fact that this manufacturer isn't a dick, and put conformal coating on the motherboard and gave it a waterproof keyboard. so I've been sure to keep all of my drinks directly beside it just for the smug feeling of power.
plus, if water does get inside. i can actually open it, unplug the battery, and dry it out without waiting 4 weeks for a special screwdriver (it happens)
Computer: do you want to turn on sticky keys?
Me/You: Presses yes
The Computer keys: *turns into a sticky asf keyboard*
sticky , icky uh . is that a lil uzi vert reference?
Watching these...I'm an expert now!🔥
You forgot to clean the x you only did c and the space bar
Thanks, it works great thanks it works great
And the keyboard has gotten sticky icky ughh
The hardest one to clean was the ESC key.
Its so tinyy
Just press shift a bunch of times!
Can you make videos for people who want to fix broken phones or laptops, probably to flip or to use themselves?
(Goes flying)
PRG: Obviously don’t let it go flying
I spilled milk on my Macbook, but suprisingly the keys still work, the only problem is that the backlit keyboard is a little dimmer, but thats probably because the milk is covering it
Take it to an apple store, there is a chance that it has been liquid damaged,
0:26 as you can see, you can make cracks on the keys or worse *break them* .
I would recommend sending it to Apple if you don't want that to happen.
bruh apple just gonna show you the finger and send you a cost estimate on every part in existence because it's not just the keys that are liquid damaged, I work as an Apple technician myself, and sadly that's how we work...
Fun Fact!: Get a keyboard protecter it doesn’t allow food/crumbs on the keyboard and doesn’t make it sticky!
That's why I drink Lipton brand ices tea
Lemon flavour is the best 👌
I got a mecer and I spilt milkshake on the mouse pad and it still works
You can c that he is very good at that
Vacuum go weeeeeeeeeeee
The fact that its a scissor switch keyboard makes it so much better to try fixing the keys where as the butterfly keyboard its harder to get the keycap removed when using that tool to fix the keyboard
C: I'm flying
Him: no u not c
I use the MacBook 2020 but I had to get a replacement so the old.one I had was MacOS big sur but now I have MacOS Catalina

Could you please provide instructions on how to remove keys from an Apple Magic Keyboard? I accidentally spilled soda on it.
Guys that the wrong way to remove the key. When you got the bottom part clipped out, dont pull it out. First push it downwards, then you can lift it up!
That’s one sticky situation lol
Big Sur
Also, the spacebars metal part is a stabilizer, if u don't keep it safe it will cause a lot of rattle
thank you
I have been meaning to look this up for a few days now.
Suddenly its just in my feed.
thank you! my macbook air has rabbit hairs under the keys and i will use the method to clean it.
its always the spacebar..
Dang it..I was wondering how he was gonna put the space bar back on..anyone w who knows..its a biaotch of a key!!

well i tried it and now my Q is permanently lose lmao. It was better sticky. As another guy said, if you use alcohol on the key, it will undo the sticky membrane holding the white lock in place. Mine does not click into it anymore even though the key itself is fine
Hello , on MacBook you need First take up keys from up to down , inforce you brake it ,

IS THAT A ICED TEA REFERENCE !??!?!?1?1?1?1?+??!11111
I would’ve used alcohol wipes. This is a half A55
Is this the same on the Magic Keyboard
This method will probably scratch the machine.. I recommend those medication blister packs or something that is not iron. And always make it gently.
I also think its possible with dental flosser
ohhh nice
i spilt strawberry sauce off my ice cream onto my keyboard the other day
i kinda ignored it tho
so now i cant use the number pad cause its super sticky
but it confuses anyone else who uses it and i find that funny 😂😅
I would be too tempted to turn the c around when I put it back on🤣
If it's sticky just press shift a buncha time
I wish I had found this before I destroyed my space bar :(
Great vid but how did you actually remove the space bar?
Awesome tip.
My laptop : Dont even dare to think that
Me : I don't even have a Laptop

Suuuuuuure.... sticky because of "ice tea"... suuuuure... a friend of mine had the same "issue"
It’s always temporary
