Quite the opposite, the VA Healthcare system needs a complete overhaul and urgent measures to fill labor shortage vacancies, along with sponsoring housing grants for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice of serving our nation and world, just as my grandfather did. Secondly, no veteran or active duty service member shall pay property taxes or healthcare costs, veterans and active duty fellows shall receive incentivized grants for all essential purchases (auto and home, more). Public servants of their stature deserve elite healthcare, but instead the “free market” bloc chooses to subsidize big oil bailouts/pharma/creditors/tech. Ethical, competitive capitalism is the solution. Not tax breaks for financial oppressors on Wall Street. I’m all for the Green New Deal. 👍

Define handout. FDR et al. helped create and strengthen a social safety net that included social security as well as food and housing aid, for instance. I think the fact that we’ve failed so many Americans makes it so much harder to make a persuasive case for mass migration/immigration.

BS we can't help our own. I'm from Massachusetts and this is a crazy situation. We allowed immigrants to come here go into our family shelters before American families are placed. Most of them are self-entitlement and want everything for free. At the shelter that I work at, the children are in free daycare, they are getting cash benefits, food stamps and $500 for living in the city of Cambridge. They don't want to work, attend any of the work programs and trainings. Babies are being born one after another because they know it means more money. They know to go to the Doctor's office and complain about their living space being to small to get transferred to a scattered sites apartment where they will bring other family members to living in this state funded until. We have a client who said he was in the US before and was deported. He is selling drugs out of the shelter. This was a bad idea. A lot of them made themselves homeless by leaving their country to get to come here for free.
You simply can't make this nightmare up! This exact order also done in Miami in the 1980's which was the first sanctuary city under that Ronald Reagan executive order which made Cubans millionaire off of welfare abuse. These so called political asylum ride around in luxury cars, have section 8 vouchers with 9k per month per family for housing. They get thousands of dollars on EBT cards, which they turnaround and sell back to hard working American Citizens who needs food and doctors are book for months in advance with free medicare. They stay at the stores talking loud on cellphones provided by the government. We have a debt of 33 trillion dollars in this country and 335 million people now in this country, in which 175 million don't work for a living. The sad part about it is most American wish that their tax dollars would provide free medicare and home ownership, yet it is given to illegal foreigners for free paid for by hardworking Americans.
I saw an interview with a Haitian illegal immigrant living in MA. He flew from Haiti with his family to Brazil. Brazil is a safe country. Yet he left Brazil and travel through other safe countries including Costa Rica and Mexico. He landed in FL he left FL with his wife and 2 children and went to MA not because DeSantis kicked him out but because a charity group sent him to MA for the free food and housing. He claims he wants to work yet is living rent free in MA. His wife who looks to be in her 30s just had another baby. I find that strange as their other child looks at least preteen. The corruption and lack of care for the actual citizens and taxpayers of this country is appalling.
It's like our program will find them a job, and they will work for two maybe four weeks and quit. Most of our clients are from Haiti.

I saw video by "Franchot Pearson" on YTube walking the streets in his area on north side of Chicago. He video taped some migrant's motor cycle, several new bikes, children strollers, and new cars parked on the street next to their set up tents. That's way beyond food, shelter and clothing.
