I personally think giving the residents a voice helps them identify if their viewpoints are (or are not) widely accepted and will likely help them to organize as communities to take future action, even if they are unable to stop the current plans. They are gaining momentum in their numbers.

They are fully contributing to the community & taxpayers, yet their lack of affordable housing is not a problem government cares to address. I really admire immigrants who are interested in really participating and wanting to be able to communicate with everyone, not just those from their country of origin. At a "community" meeting it would be best to communicate in the common language, English. I really can't imagine moving to another country and making it my home and then not learning the common language in order to communicate with everyone.
