Just a heads up - this only marks the drive as empty, but the data is actually still there and recoverable until it's been overwritten by other data. Same goes with deleting files and emptying the recycle bin. If you're selling a drive that's had personal info on it then you want to completely overwrite every bit with zeros. Plenty of tools to do this but HD Tune is what I use on Windows.
@@JoeyDoesTech And I rarely comment on UA-cam so while I'm here just wanna say keep up the good work and thanks for the vids. You're one of the few people who's videos I'll watch as soon as I see the new video notification.
And another retimer. A known fail point at this time. Great job. I wasn't sure either, if the retimer chip fixes the console that time, but it''s alive again. The wiping with CMD is very useful. Thank you for the good entertainment.
You can unclog your flux nozzle by gently touching its tip with a hot soldering iron. I use Loctite flux here in Hungary, because it is available here in lower quantities, too, and I get this issue all the time because I only use it about once a week.
Put an SSD on it, it'll make it feel more snappy and load games faster, I put a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD on mine like 3 years ago for $70 and it's still fast!
I'll be that guy... nice. Also, FYI the amounts that you saw in disk management are only allocated amounts, not actual used amounts. Not sure why MS left 22GB of slack space in there though... Good job though!
Very nice fix once again Joey it seems almost all xboxes with no display have the same problem when the Hdmi port is good. Nice to know and nice to fix 👍
Are you adding a bit of solder to your tips when you're done soldering? That helps to prevent them from failing sooner. It's a maintenance thing to do when you're done with the tip
Nice video joey but looking at that hdmi port I didn't like look of it think in my shoes I would of changed that to but good work anyways :) 😀 look forward to your next video
I love watching your channel watch it every time you post video lol 😆 say to my misses watching joeys video tonight she knows who I mean 😅😅😅😅 but good work dude

Those windows CMD commands are also incredibly useful if you're getting rid of an old drive. It's a total wipe. Great tip.
Completely agree :) It works wonders!

Funny number at the beginning 😳
👀👀👀
Valeu!
Seems to be that microsoft did not make these retimer chips to last, seeing a lot of aging xboxes (is that a word?) with a faulty retimer.
I don't believe Microsoft made these chips. Wasn't it Texas Instruments? And yes these second gen 158 chips had a major failure rate.
@@hove131 Well yeah not Microsoft themselves my bad but they usually buy them in bulk knowing their possible lifespan
Great fix!
Thanks :)
Did it fix no 2nd or 3rd beep? Safe to say no 2nd or 3rd beep is a symptom of bad retimer chip?
Oh I didn't know that :D Good to know Jesus, thanks.

Sunburn? What does the YT algorithm think about that?
😂😂😂 True!
Major congrats for not saying "nice" after the funny number.
