  • A lonely God stood by her throne
    A world she knew not was her own
    I hate this normal earth she said
    The boring ground on which I tread
    I’d make it different if I could
    If I could change this world, I would
    How? said Kyon, beside his friend
    How would you make this world end?

      ***** Thank you for your kind words. I am saddened to hear of Gigguk-chan and Demo senpai's passing. As for myself, I'm going back to school soon so content may come a little slow

    Forgot to mention, if you haven't seen Haruhi-chan..... What have you been doing!!! Seriously, yuki finally gets the screen time she deserves, and nails it.

      jondonom I haven't been able to pick up that show yet- it looks...ugly and kyoto animation isn't doing it but if you think its worth checking out I'll add that to the list of reasons to do so.

    My biggest problem with the series is the way Haruhi treats Mikuru in "The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya" which is the last arc of the second season. That is the problem I had with the second season, compared to this, even the "Endless Eigh" is acceptable.
    It's like they thought: let's fuck Haruhi's development. And so they did.
    But apart from that I really love this series and I think that the first season and the movie are perfect, it's just that the second season is really inferior.

      GluzinGames besides the endless 8, I would have to agree with you

    Great reviews and analysts on my favorite series, hibike! And Haruhi, subscribed. And whats your take on their soundtracks? Personally i love the soundtracks and they're my favorites; it brings the extra musical narrative that makes the series so compelling and immersive with the already likable characters and art direction. And another thing i like about KyoAni, is their pleasant to the eyes character designs. I wouldn't have taken both these series seriously if the character designs were something else. Like yuki-chan for example lol.

      jondonom Hey Thank you, Two of the series soundtracks are pretty memorable "Touch" by Yoshimi Iwasaki (which I don't think was an original) and one of the end battle songs used in the computer club episode.
      I also really like KyoAni's animation style -

    That´s exactly my opinion on the series even if I didn´t enjoy as much season 2 in general.

      +António Silva there aren't a lot of people who can enjoy watching the same episode 8 times in a row.

    Hey man, I have to say you REALLY encapsulated haruhi for me, you managed to nail both the goods and bads of the series and why the disappearance is such an amazing movie (it's in my top 5 anime movies for sure). This video was also really well done, I'm genuinely impressed as I'm a big fan of this style of editing (quick and lively) which is really abnormal to see nowadays. I was wondering if you have a Skype? I'd really like to talk to you about a few things- mine is 'lucidruss' if you're up for chat.

    I'm growing more and more convinced that I am the only person who liked the endless 8
    I got to watch it all in one sitting so maybe that had something to do with it, but I like to think I'm the sort of hopeless armchair philosopher who would have liked it even more If I had to wait week to week.
    We took this series completely differently
    How did you end up seeing it in chronological order? because that's just wrong

    • @Departedreflections
      @Departedreflections  9 років тому +4

      I did watch it chronologically, it ended rather poorly, but otherwise, I liked it

    • @fatmanfalling
      @fatmanfalling 9 років тому +1

      Oh man that's harsh.
      (I might be over thinking it but) watching it out of order makes it play out in a satisfying narrative arc, making a metacomentary on how real life isn't often narratively satisfying.

      fatmanfalling You're not the only one. I LOVE how endless 8 is just a parody of anime in general. "What so you'll watch the same generic, repackaged crap over and over again, but now when its done within the same series that enrages you?" Fantastic

    • @fatmanfalling
      @fatmanfalling 9 років тому +1

      Lachlan Still That's not even what I liked about it, It was just a really effective use of an episodic story structure. playing with episode by episode structure has always been something Melancholy has done well.
      But when I watched it I felt legit deja vu, It kept me unnerved for 3 episodes and really made me worry about the predicament.
      The Endless 8 is by far my favorite fourth wall break

      ***** Yeah, the first season was great as a stand alone season but if you look at season 1, 2 and the movie as a trilogy the second season is my favorite

    Since the anime ended rather abruptly does that mean the anime was just cut or was it ment to finish like that and if it was cut does that mean the manga continued the story?

    • @Departedreflections
      @Departedreflections  9 років тому +1

      As far as I know the manga is still ongoing. From what I understand, the Disappearance was made as a movie instead on season 3 (I could be wrong) and supposedly the Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan is scheduled to release in April of this year (2015).

      Departed Reflections okay thanks for the info im probably gonna go read into the manga bacause the whole anime felt like it was building up to something like how each different faction like the epsers or alien time thingy had conflicting opinions with each other and how they were a bit suspicious of each others represensative the whole thing sounded like it was building to a big conflict so I was dissapointed with the end of the anime and I wonder where the manga went with it no idea why this turned into a ramble but ive got one more question. Do you think it was gonna escalate to anthing like that? Id love to get your opinion on the matter.

      Woah, ok, I have a feeling I'm pretty late on this, but better late than never, I suppose.
      Haruhi was actually originally a series of light novels, with the first titled "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" coming out in 2003. The story that ends in Disappearance is by no means the "end" of the series. There are actually 11 LNs(10 if you're reading the English translation since the 10th and 11th were combined into one book) with Disappearance being the fourth one. The first four LNs were all adapted into the anime, with some short stories from the fifth and sixth being in there as well. This means that some stories from the fifth and sixth LNs, plus all of the 7th-11th LNs have NOT been adapted.
      If you really plan on finding out what happens after Disappearance, I highly recommend you begin with the LNs, as those are the original works, and they include the most detail in terms of the story and Kyon's thoughts. Then, if you want, move on to the manga.
      From your posts you seemed to not know about the light novels, so I figured I should provide some information. I'm sorry if you did know, I just wanted to make sure you did, especially if you're interested in diving into the story after Disappearance.
      As for the whole "factions" thing, I'm not willing to spoil any of the material that's not in the anime, so that's entirely for you to find out.

    what do you mean no point to the endless eight, i mean sure i would agree to disagree with you if there was no movie or if you made this without the input of it, since the movie made the endless eight even better rather than the smaller meaning it had on its own. but oh well guess even tho you all of it i geuss you missed the point of the endless eight, atleast you didn't have to watch it 15000 times

    You might hate me when I say this but this is the worst anime I've ever seen. and it's not because it's slice of life. (even though this anime ruined that genre for me) I love "Love Chinibuyo and other delusions". But to be fair it was Haruhi's complete unlikeabillity that botched it for me with episode 23 being a prime example. I really didn't have much of a problem with anything else in the show (other than endless 8). I'm a person where 1 truly unlikable character can ruin a show for me and Haruhi is the only character that fits the bill to a T .and hopefully she's the last.

    • @Departedreflections
      @Departedreflections  9 років тому +3

      Dude, I can't hate you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this video. I agree that Haruhi is pretty unlikable but she had a few saving graces (expressed more in disappearance) and I liked the rest of the characters too much to not like the anime. Anyway, I might check out Love Chinibuyo at some point.

      I have the movie and show filed on my computer because ONE DAY I'm going to review it. But the movie was pretty tolerable in the middle and end I thought it was an ok movie. Anime movies are kind of a mixed bag for me. Including the disappearance movie I only seen 11, with the worst being "Howl's moving castle". Right now Haruhi's movie is probably 2nd best I've seen, beat out by the 3rd BLEACH movie (so I guess Haruhi lucked out, having to compete with 2 Miyazaki movies and a DBZ movie)
