Well done. This is one of the better RWBY reviews I've seen in a while. You pointed out things my sub-conscious has been screaming at me about, and that I've been completely oblivious to.
This helped deal with Mo ty's death more. As matt said and Monty would surely have agreed, making content that is entertaining is the best way to honor him.
RIP Monty Oum. I hope that they continue to make the show better, if not overall just great, in terms of the story, and I hope they can get a good fight choreographer in honor of him-though idk if that's possible. But overall, if this is the first in a possible wave of future indie anime, then this is one hell of a start, and I can only hope that the keep on improving.
Just came across this video. I'm a huge RWBY fan and really love the series. I will say now that while I do not agree with all of your opinions/views on the series, I truly respect the way that you handled your review. Your review was extremely respectful, kind, and truly seemed to be looking at ways to improve the series rather than just trying to nitpick different issues you had personally with it. Once again, I do not agree with everything you say, but that does not mean I fully disagree either. As I strong fan of the series, I also hope that they can continue to improve as they go forward with the series. Again, as a fan of a series that I've seen treated quite harshly by others, I truly thank you for what I would like to consider a 'true review' of the series.
+Matthew Wick Unlike certain other more infamous RWBY UA-cam reviewers, Departed Reflections is far more balanced and compassionate., which I appreciate.
+Departed Reflections I wasn't a great fan from episode 1, but this series grows on you (like a friendly fungus) and I found myself really liking the characters by the end of vol. 1. They all seemed to grow during the story. Your question about why they are still in school if they are such superb fighters is simple: they may be technically good but they are not yet Hunters, and there's a lot of non-fighting things you need to learn to become a Hunter - hence the Academy. Much like the difference between a newly-minted Private fresh out of Basic training, and a seasoned Airborne Ranger.
+1stPCFerret a friendly fungus aye. but I guess my point was less about how the school was unnecessary but mainly how OP the characters seemed to be. This changed in the alter volumes.
Nice review, I agree with you on all of these points. Here's to hoping Volume 3 touches upon these criticisms. P.S Get well soon, Monty P.P.S. Sun is best boy ^_^
Nice to see I'm not the only one with that view on the Grimm and the students' level of skill. Don't get me wrong, I love these combat scenes as much as and possibly more than the next guy, but as you pointed out, the characters dispatch their enemies with such ease that I can't find the "life and death" struggles having any intensity. The one exception being the train fight at the end of Volume 2, where Yang and Weiss decisively lost their battles. Of course, as much as I love the characters (Nora!) and the fighting, the thing that truly draws me in is the world of Remnant and its many interesting aspects. The way this show incorporates both sci-fi and fantasy is, in my opinion, its greatest strength.
DapperDeliveryBoy I certainly think some aspects of the setting are interesting. but a lot of it seems very disjointed and random (this is something I didn't really touch on in my review)
DapperDeliveryBoy I know what you mean but I do like how consistently over the top it is. They tried the same type of scenes in red vs blue and it just didn't work in my opinion.
hi great review. i like your style. i just watched it for the second time (the review) because volume 3 has started. i think you missed some potential points of critisism but overall made a balanced review. i hope you go on to make more. not just of rwby but of other shows too. are you going to make more reviews?
Man, I can agreed to some you point out. Is RWBY is the best Show of Rooster Teeth? No. But I do enjoy it and that what I want. I really like it as well. I enjoy fighting, music, and good character development. I'm very glad that they continue RWBY. I think it a good way to honor Monty Oum. Here hoping that volume 3 is good.
+Departed Reflections Because of Red vs Blue's longevity, I cannot say RWBY is the best show from RT, but I can say it's my favorite, especially after V3.
During that episode in which they tackled racism against faunas I was screaming at the screen "everyone here is white!" I really didn't remember seeing anyone that wasn't super white until that point and I think it's amazing the series would address such an issue and yet the character design couldn't be less diverse. I keep wondering whether the cat woman in the main 4 could be Asian. Maybe they're all anime Asian.
***** "yelling mra and anti feminist shit." I think you're confusing me with somebody else as I'm not an MRA and never have been. Also there is a button on the keyboard called the shift key and you can use it to type capital letters. Just thought you might want to know.
***** Are you serious? Find one example of me saying I'm an MRA. I am not one and have no intention of becoming one. Or do you say this to anybody who disagrees with you?
also monty really did know how to make a cool fight scene. shame he was taken away from us. maybe volume 3 will have a higher than average story and more badass dramatic fight scenes. take away the pg 13 fight scenes and bring back intense high end fight scenes
it's up to them but there is other reason of why i feel sad for the faunus . it's in the history of remnant what if you went up to a faunus and asked how he thinks of human some would be a different answer
They were bringing in things that showed their limitations later in the season though. You had the elephant Grimm that Oobleck said were way to strong to fight, Neo completely trashed Yang, and Blake & Weiss ended up having to run from the White Fang lieutenant. The team seemed to have recognized the OP-ness and took steps to add tension. I'm looking forward to the threats in Volume 3.
Joe Morgan I see what you're saying with the increased difficulty- unfortunately I think they took out the Grim attack at the end of season 2, so easily it kinda killed all the tension. I guess we shall have 2 wait and c
Departed Reflections True. But at least they recognized a problem and started taking steps to correct it. Hopefully, as you said, they'll continue to improve in Volume 3 and beyond.
Joe Morgan With Monty gone, I dunno. I have hope for the series but I suspect most of the good things about the series involved him and the series will suffer without - hope I eat my own words but...
This anime could've been so good.... Also I really don't like the 3D Animation why not keep it simple like other animes I'm mean those 3D animations are shit!
+Abdel Nasser I mean for the first (popular/well recognized) 3D anime ever on big streaming sites like crunchyroll, the animation is very tolerable, I really couldn't imagine the characters in any other art style, I mean you have to recognize how amazing the fight scenes are done, I mean what even. (Also the music is freaking amazing I listen to it practically everyday, Jeff Williams everyone. Also the singer for most of them was around 14 years old at the time of recording I mean WTF she got skills)
I will prefer to watch this if is 2d old school anime style... Watch the actual animation it's like watching MMD vocaloid fanmade videos.. Black Rock Shooter + Vocaloid + awful story set + schoolgirl cliche + rip off character desing from other videogames or animes characters = THIS SHIT!!!
Well done. This is one of the better RWBY reviews I've seen in a while. You pointed out things my sub-conscious has been screaming at me about, and that I've been completely oblivious to.
Thank you...very much

I was touched by your comment, I'm glad you took a little comfort from this silly vid.
RIP Monty Oum. I hope that they continue to make the show better, if not overall just great, in terms of the story, and I hope they can get a good fight choreographer in honor of him-though idk if that's possible.

No I really want to see a review of Volume 3!
"Animating badass color-coded anime girls with big, *fuck-off* weapons...?"
*My favourite kind of anime.*
I'm glad you like it

Matthew Wick thank you for your kind comment, would you care to elaborate on what exactly you didn't agree with (out of curiosity)

meh i think RWBY really started to shine in vol 3, since it covers a lot of the plot holes in vol 2

I agree that the ending to Volume 2 wasn't great. It had so much potential.
+MasterPoppers well a great man once said, "potential is all that stands between something happening and nothing"

my review: Better than "Reboot", will watch season3.
hi

Anthony Serocco Aww, thanks
+Departed Reflections After V3, though, I'm very willing to say that it may be the best RT show. :O

good luck mate
+Broken Brainez Thank you, you too
interesting review on terror in resonance.
+Broken Brainez can you please stop going on my account
+Broken Brainez make your own
lol
Regarding volume 2 ending, you spoke my mind!! Also, I am curious to know your thoughts regarding volume 3.
+Sandeep Chatterjee To be continued... : )

***** I watched a bit into the second season.
We're hurting for more Hannibal, but he's got digging to do.
Apparition Killer >muh diversity

***** Do I know you?
Seriously who are you?
***** "yelling mra and anti feminist shit." I think you're confusing me with somebody else as I'm not an MRA and never have been.

nice
at the end of volume 2 everyone was OVER POWER!! for some reason and why does humankind fear grimm if they can kill them like that in volume 2
also monty really did know how to make a cool fight scene. shame he was taken away from us. maybe volume 3 will have a higher than average story and more badass dramatic fight scenes. take away the pg 13 fight scenes and bring back intense high end fight scenes
Wish you had a vol 3 review
Go for volume 3. Turns out seasons 1 and 2 are pure filler and serve as a "launch ramp" of a kind.
+Alexandra D (Alxyz) a filler ramp
should i be sorry for the white fang or the hunters?
i feel sorry for the white fang some of them could have family's
"could,?" they most definitely do. but then I guess so do the people who they are trying to kill.
it's up to them
it's up to them but there is other reason of why i feel sad for the faunus . it's in the history of remnant what if you went up to a faunus and asked how he thinks of human some would be a different answer
romance and character development should be improved in rwby
goodness Broken, do you always post comments this....broken up
do you have a carear? just curious
not really, I'm currently studying nursing and working part time - this channel is one of my hobbies
you can be grimm or human/faunus
how would you destroy the 4 kingdom of remnant and the hunters you can grimm or humans/faunus
eat them.
well that one way they did do it with the world once
Now review vol 3 >:)
I should : (
South Park is one of the few good adult cartoons on TV along with Rick and Morty. If you want tasteless, watch Family Guy.
But anyway, great review!
+Wiziliz haven't had a chance to check out R&M but I do agree, the later seasons of family guy are pretty unfunny
Departed Reflections Even Family Guy has some gems in the older seasons but it's trash now. Definitely check out Rick and Morty.
The title is redundant as hell
RWBY is boring, maybe it's due to the unrealistic dialogues or something else but I can't get into any of the characters...
frankly I think the show is pointless in the begining of volume 2 rwby is extremely stong probably strong enough to do everything on her own
+Samuel Good Tis true, I did think RWBY was OP, then I saw team coffee and all notion of tension went out the window

Dude....the MUSIC is so annoying I came for your voice and idea NOT to hear the loud as fuck music
thank you for your constructive comment- you may very well be right about the music (this was my first review) hopefully I've improved
