The end segment hit me with a wave of nostalgia. The first time I played FNAF 1 back in high school, the memories I made playing with friends watching at home, watching them all get scared as they're too nervous to do certain things. Thank you for this series.
@@Biblicallyaccurateseal Yep. The dialogue that actually happens is picked (partially at random) from an assortment of lines that almost sound like stream of consciousness rambling.
Regarding the “having two guard names is stupid” on the gravestones, If we assume Michael was all the guards, my guess is he just picked his fake names in honor of the dead children, his fathers victims
Well, he couldn’t have been ALL the guards. Didn’t FNAF 2 have a second nightguard after Jeremy got moved to the dayshift? Still, it’s a wonderful sentiment that I think Michael would have.
Now we theorize that there were 2 souls in Golden Freddy, one freed in Happiest Day, being Evan, and the other uncanonically freed from Old Man Consequences, being Cassidy
In my opinion this is the FNAFs equivalent to Dooms Plutonia Experiment. It’s a game where it’s less about the story and the seriousness but more about the skill involved being the main center of the gameplay a game built for the most extreme fans who thought any of the Blank/20 modes were too easy. And I gotta say I respect Scott for making the game borderline impossible it’s a good play on his part I respect it. Also Mr.Hippo is a god tier developer troll and I love Scott for putting it in it’s a good burn for dying one of the easiest enemy’s in the game. Also holy shit watching Dawko stream nonstop for like a week was fun as hell
If such is the case, the UCN equivalent to pistol starting Plutonia is playing 50/20 mode after only reading the character descriptions and controls screen
Genuinely you’ve done an incredibly job breaking down and covering the series, sad to see the end but enjoyed every video. Can’t wait to see more from you, Fnaf or not. You’re an incredible creator :]
Dawko beating 50/20 has got to be one of the greatest moments in a video game. If the Old Man Consequences ending is canon, how fitting is it that the series literally ends with a game crash
Not gonna lie, the retrospective in the end got me tearing up. I'll miss the good old days of the series and I'll miss these videos, but I'm just glad we had the chance of having so many good memories and amazing content like this
I have to be completely honest. Thank you. Through these retrospective videos I have re-found my genuine love for this series again. It's honestly really inspiring to see what one single man did to horror. Not only have you gotten me fully back into this series and its games, but you made some of the best batch of UA-cam videos I have watched in quite a long time. So thank you. I hope to see you grow bigger. Can't wait for the new stuff.
I appreciate your honesty when it comes to the artists of the series, sometimes people can become so enamored with the concept of the first fnaf artists that they don’t properly gauge the quality of their work.
@@toffsplace I don’t think the Funtime chica image was that bad either, I just think her work in general is not as great as some other fnaf fan artists

This was such a good series, I'm so glad that you're able to move into your own place and use this as a source of income! I listen to this series as background noise, because I love it so much. Easily my favorite creator, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future! If I could, I would absolutely support you on Patreon. Side note: I am SO HYPED for the SCP Retrospective series!
I always imagined UCN being William in hell after Fnaf 6. Everyone else was able to move on and become angels but Cassidy just couldn’t yet, so she trapped him in UCN to torment him forever, Old Man tries to get her to go with everyone else and to “leave the demon to his demons” and I’m not sure if she did or not. The game either ended with her taking Old Man’s advice and finally moving on or her never letting that anger go and continues to torture him for all eternity. That’s why I always say that UCN should have been the final game.
I really appreciated this series! The time, dedication and effort it must've took to research and gather this much information on this topic is purely amazing. I've always been around FnaF, in the community and following all of the games since its release. I've always been kind of in and out, watching theories or game play's from time to time and your retrospectives tremendously helped me to catch up with theories, new games and new discoveries about the lore! Even after years I love being a part of this community, thanks again for this series :))
And it was through this small saga of Sagan’s career, a whole fanbase for what he does was created. And I am very proud to be a part of it. Thanks very much for this awesome retrospective series Mr Geeky. We will not forget ❤️
I look forward to the Containment Breach video! I was a beta tester, and that game still holds a place close to my heart. You should do a video on Slender too! The Eight Pages and The Arrival are my childhood!
Yknow I always thought that "the one you shouldn't have killed" was Henry's daughter Charlotte. Since shes the one who becomes the puppet and gives life to the animatronics and thought she was behind the whole thing and the one whose making the others souls stay and not move on. Given how the puppet has the voice line "the others are like animals"
@@cantthinkofaname5046 1: The reason why they said “keeping them from moving on” because she put them in bots which started all of this in the first place. 2: I’m pretty sure Cassidy is the only one who hasn’t moved on yet.
I don't think it's Charlotte since, in UCN, Mangle says “he” and Withered Chica says “him” when they're talking about the one you shouldn't have killed
I remember watching Dawko live streams 24/7 and thinking each time ''This is the one'', and when he actually made it and asked the community for questions to ask Scott i just couldn't be more grateful at him Man, that was 3 years ago? Whenever i think about Fnaf i realize how fast time goes by, this was a great video series (can't believe it started in November seemed like yesterday lol!) Thanks for putting your work in, will look forward to whats up next
Man, this whole series has been a crazy walk through memory lane. I remember getting into everything as soon as the second game's teasers. My favorite will always be the first game because that game just had the most charm to it. The many many secret screens, and character design and overall just creepiness and mystery wasn't ever met again in the series. While other games excelled in certain aspects, none of them got the perfect balance in my eyes. I've been wanting to go back for a long while now and recompile everything about the whole series in like a UA-cam playlist or something just to look back on and this is a good inspiration for that. This series was like an appetizer to the whole deep delve I've been meaning to get into
This whole series has been really good, and very fun to watch! I got into FNAF when it came out, while I was fresh out of high school, and I’m now in my mid-twenties. It’s surreal to think this series has been here for such a big chunk of my life when it started as one simple little horror game. Thank you for these well-written and informative videos! They’ve made it much easier for me to revisit the series and look back at how far it’s come. And to soapbox for a moment- The ending segment of this video made me nostalgic for those earlier days of the fandom. A convention I went to (god, does anyone remember those?) had a FNAF tent set up in the game room with a computer loaded up with 1-3, and a projector projecting the gameplay onto the outside of the tent. People could sit outside and watch the player’s struggles, and youd hear screams echoing thru the hall every time they died, haha. A Puppet cosplayer and a fully suited Bonnie cosplayer would swing by every few minutes to stand ominously behind the player inside the tent, so if they turned to ask their friend something they’d get the shit scared out of them LMAO. It was legitimately a lot of fun to play with an audience, and to /be/ a part of an audience in a setting like that, and I think that’s my fondest memory of the series as a whole- playing FNAF with a Puppet hovering behind me in this little corner of a bustling convention. I sat there giving tips to newer players who stepped in (that I’d memorized from watching others play, lol) and watching with awe as veterans stepped up and owned it. The series has always been very easy to get into on a surface level, and that ease of access made the dark lore and deeper secrets all the more enticing, I feel, especially when everything was new and exciting! But I’ve rambled enough, lol. Thank you for reminding me why I love this series and this community. I’ll be looking forward to your next upload, whatever it may be :>
You could always do a retrospective on old fangames (like candy's and its sequels, flumpty's, treasure island, rachel's, popgoes, etc). I really like your style of editing and how informative your videos are.
Fun Fact: If you have FNaF World installed on your computer and haven't already gotten the ending where you visit Old Man Consequences at the lake, and do the easter egg in Ultimate Custom Night where you do exactly that, then after drowning in the lake in Ultimate Custom Night, you'll have the trophy for getting that ending in FNaF World. A very minor detail that I'm honestly baffled as to why Scott included it.
Loved this series so much, I’ve genuinely watched each of these videos more times than I could count. The living tombstone piano cover somehow even got me a lil emotional there. Super looking forward to what you make in the future !!
thank you so much for this incredible series, i'm sad to see it go but it's been so good to see it happen in real time. i'm also glad you brought up the problems with the artists scott has hired because i feel like it's a problem rarely addressed by the community, though hopefully one day that'll change. just thank you for covering everything that you could with this series, i'm excited for more stuff from you in the future and i'll gladly binge this series over and over and over again... forever

Always trust in your gut and never be afraid to ask your audience/patreon for what they wanna watch for the next series topic. You got a great format man, keep it up!
I wonder of the themes of "This is Hell" in this game is a reference to FNAF 1, where one of the first theories of what was going on was that you were in hell, being punished for killing the first 5 children.
Great work. These retrospectives helped spark my dive back into the FNaF fandom. I've always considered myself a fan, since the very beginning of the series, but I kinda moved on from the series after Sister Location, and stopped actively following it. But now I'm back! And it's wonderful. I've been playing Help Wanted, and I love it. Probably gonna be replaying Pizzeria Simulator and UCN soon. It's sad to see this retrospective series go for now, but it's been amazing. Thank you.
As much as I did enjoy the retrospective for this one, I'll have to agree that maybe the sped-up montage of all the enemies in the game was a bit taxing. If this video could be done differently, I probably would have suggested that either the notable aspects of gameplay get mentioned, like changes from older characters that introduce new elements, or just speed up the montage faster and faster as a joke to ply that there's so much to go through. Otherwise, this was a really solid ending to an era of FNAF retrospectives. Looking forward to Containment Breach, loved that game.
A few weeks back I figured out you made a Little Nightmares Retrospective and my god it was a fun and informative watch. The thought of you doing an SCP Retrospective is crazy since with your formatting and the near endless ground to cover or even just doing the most well known original SCP’s has a lot of space for amazing depth and explanation. It should hopefully be clear by now that while your fnaf videos are spectacular, you are never limited to them and can reach out to new franchises and have as much passion as you do with this series. As always, I cannot wait to see what you pull off in the future!
Honestly, i have never heard about this channel up until you uploaded the literal first FNAF retrospective video, which randomly made its way into my recommended feed. And I've been watching this series ever since. While it's not perfect (because let's be real, what is), your little "A Retrospective" series is amazing, very informative and a pleasure to watch.
I have absolutely LOVED THESE. Please continue doing retrospectives like this for horror games. You have an amazing style and intruiging way to catch viewers attention.
this series singlehandedly introduced you to me and made you one of my favorite youtubers today, and i only hopped on shortly before the 4th retrospective came out
I don’t want to add fuel to the fire since I like matpat but I just want to say this old phrase “no one likes a know it all” so god forbid he gets something wrong and everyone is on his case like they never got stiff wrong Keep pushing on Mr Hawks I look forward to what you have in store
I mean, i thought everyone was aware the "know it all" persona was just that, a persona. I thought people just disliked the fact that some theories we're a bit outlandish. Now i understand the why a bit better, but still doesn't excuse the overblowm hate he sometimes get imo.
William being the player of UCN has basically been confirmed through the Fazbear Frights books, where Golden Freddy’s equivalent holds William back and tortures him instead of letting him die and pass on in pretty much the exact same manner as UCN. But it’s not hell, it’s some never ending nightmare, like several characters say in the game itself. Because of this, this is pretty much how he gets into Help Wanted. _Because_ Golden Freddy chose to stick behind and get the last laugh, William’s soul was still around to get scanned out. Maybe that’s what the final Golden Freddy cutscene was. William being taken away and Golden Freddy left there, still angry, still not satisfied.
This, This makes me cry, The amount of personality passion and quality these retrospectives have are insane I've watched everyone and followed them and now there basically over, And that ending, The use of the bad ending song from fnaf 3 brings so much emotion out of me cause it was back during the good old days, and during that time it was attached to so many fnaf fan projects that i was very into at the time, And now that its over I must say, Thank you for providing us with quality content. Sagan you're a hero on youtube.
Sagan Hawkes Thank you for making an awesome series. ever since i saw your retrospective on the first game. i've kept up to date with your channel and i'm glad i did
i've loved these videos so much!! particularly admire that you actually follow up on stuff when you say "we'll talk about that later" haha, these vids are SO well-structured
I've loved these retrospectives so far, so it pains me to critique one of them, but wasting 10 minutes of a 30-minute video on reading a Steam walkthrough which is so sped up that it's nearly impossible to absorb any of that information was not a good call.
Makes me wonder if some of that space could've been used for more in-depth highlights of new mechanics, as well as talking about other features like Mr Hippo's whole schtick.

@@canine8284 true, i thought about that too

I'll miss the good old days of the series and I'll miss these videos, but I'm just glad we had the chance of having so many good memories and amazing content like this
was about to search a meme but got this in my notifs. clearly this is more important

Fnaf security breach: Hi there hello
Why do people forget that FNaF Vr exists
I have to be completely honest. Thank you. Through these retrospective videos I have re-found my genuine love for this series again. It's honestly really inspiring to see what one single man did to horror. Not only have you gotten me fully back into this series and its games, but you made some of the best batch of UA-cam videos I have watched in quite a long time. So thank you. I hope to see you grow bigger. Can't wait for the new stuff.
you gotta respect him for recording himself listing all the characters and what they do
This video is so new it’s not even on the channel page yet
Not me who has been binge watching all these episodes
Gotta love nightmarionne killing you in 0.9 seconds
I appreciate your honesty when it comes to the artists of the series, sometimes people can become so enamored with the concept of the first fnaf artists that they don’t properly gauge the quality of their work.
Was the fun time chica's drawing bad?
It seemed preety nice to me.
@@toffsplace I don’t think the Funtime chica image was that bad either, I just think her work in general is not as great as some other fnaf fan artists
He doesnt like how one has opinions differing his radical ones, thats a little heartbreaking tbh, overall decent video, kid whines hard sometimes tho.
I've never been more excited than for the retrospective series. This has been a wonderful journey!
I’ve enjoyed the videos for a long while, and while I’m sad to see the series go, it’s been a fun ride. Also, thank you for featuring my art! It was a nice surprise to find
Can’t wait for him to remove the text “(Finale)” after security breach comes out
Or just season 2
This was such a good series, I'm so glad that you're able to move into your own place and use this as a source of income! I listen to this series as background noise, because I love it so much. Easily my favorite creator, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future! If I could, I would absolutely support you on Patreon.
Side note: I am SO HYPED for the SCP Retrospective series!
slowing down the video to 0.5x while sagan lists every single mechanic in the game out of respect for a fellow gamer's hard work
i will say i am surprised that we never mentioned mr hippo's monologues. iconic
Gonna be rewatching them all every like 8 months to get my fix

Im not sure, cuz the puppet helps the others move on in FNaF 3
Wrong
It’s golden Freddy who is the one keeping them there, it’s can be no one else because of the cutscenes
@@cantthinkofaname5046
1: The reason why they said “keeping them from moving on” because she put them in bots which started all of this in the first place.
2: I’m pretty sure Cassidy is the only one who hasn’t moved on yet.
I don't think it's Charlotte since, in UCN, Mangle says “he” and Withered Chica says “him” when they're talking about the one you shouldn't have killed
I don't know why but I was so excited when I saw this video came out

Cause it was an awesome series
I remember watching Dawko live streams 24/7 and thinking each time ''This is the one'', and when he actually made it and asked the community for questions to ask Scott i just couldn't be more grateful at him
Man, that was 3 years ago?
I am not allowing myself to watch this until I have rewatched every previous retrospective
Loved this series so much, I’ve genuinely watched each of these videos more times than I could count. The living tombstone piano cover somehow even got me a lil emotional there. Super looking forward to what you make in the future !!

It's been incredible to see this series grow and evolve its whole way through, and I think its magnificent how its ended.
An end of an era but a start to possibly a brighter one; fantastic series.
You'll kill it if you keep making stuff this high quality.
The way Sagan shows visible disgust when saying the word "transphobe" makes my day
this series singlehandedly introduced you to me and made you one of my favorite youtubers today, and i only hopped on shortly before the 4th retrospective came out
I don’t want to add fuel to the fire since I like matpat but I just want to say this old phrase
“no one likes a know it all” so god forbid he gets something wrong and everyone is on his case like they never got stiff wrong
Keep pushing on Mr Hawks I look forward to what you have in store
That’s one hell of an ending, Sagan. Congratulations on the series!
I've loved these retrospectives so far, so it pains me to critique one of them, but wasting 10 minutes of a 30-minute video on reading a Steam walkthrough which is so sped up that it's nearly impossible to absorb any of that information was not a good call.
Yeah seemed like an unfunny joke that should’ve been scrapped
Makes me wonder if some of that space could've been used for more in-depth highlights of new mechanics, as well as talking about other features like Mr Hippo's whole schtick.
