I live in the US since 2000 , in saint louis mo, but I was born in ezequiel montes queretaro, in a small town called villa Progreso, just about 10 kilometros from bernal, my dad owns a pizza place named,"Prontos pizza" and I would love you to come visit with ur friends ,and enjoy a delicious pizza or calzone. It may not be a fancy place but the view is beautiful., you can look at it in Facebook or Instagram, BTW I'm being watching all of ur videos,

Hi Alex, You mentioned in an earlier video that there's a expat community that meets regularly. My wife and I are in Queretaro for 10 days this November to explore a possible move there (we were there two years ago and really enjoyed ourselves). Perhaps we could drop in and ask some questions about neighborhoods, lifestyle, etc. Keep up the good work! Garry and Tina

Years ago, while studying medicine in Guadalajara, I discovered that an unintended consequence of falling in love with a beautiful Mexican girl who spoke no English was that my own Spanish speaking ability dramatically increased. I also came to know the ins and outs of the city far more than my fellow American students. The best part though was that I found my soulmate who became my wife and mother of three beautiful girls. ❤️ BTW, great video and great advice !

¡Hola Alex & Taylor! Great tips we all can use, will use them on my trip to Q in july. I try to remind myself "baby steps"!! When you get out and walk tell yourself to make your daily goal to great others as you pass them. Hola, buenos dias etc. sounds simple but it will help get you on your way to resetting your mind that your in Mexico! Also when I go to a cafe, market, oxxo, etc. I tell the person in spanish "I am learning spanish" it instantly lowers expectation of my ability to speak/comprehend spanish and it breaks the ice. ¡Cuídate!

Nice work, keeping the list tidy and not too rambling. I think you got the highlights, IMO. One thing I might add is that not all of us are going to (ever) look in a bar for a friend, so I didn't really end up watching the video you linked in your i card... but perhaps, in my case, a local yoga class, a library where events might take place (like readings or work shops)... even then, that's simply a place to start. After you make an initial contact, whether it's a bar, coffee shop, yoga class or library, what next? Did you find "trouble" with other ex pats not responding, or perhaps showing an interest, then not following through? Or were you referring to making friends with locals? Anyhow, good video containing some great points. Much appreciated.

Also, my Spanish is not great - one of the very first things I want to sign up for are Spanish language classes - in person - are they readily available in Queretaro. There's no shortage of cute Airbnbs and boutique hotels in Queretaro city center. If you're interested in the latter, check out Casa Aspeytia.
