- I love Midsummer here in the North of England! The day starts so early and I love to be a part of it. In this video I make an alteration to a favourite dress and cook supper for my son John's birthday. Idyllic.

This is probably one of my favorite videos, Kate. The beginning was very meditative and the music is always so perfect. I lost one of my quilting buddies this past week. She would’ve been 85 next week. This video reminded me how important it is to celebrate every birthday! Thanks for the healing.

I am a certified seemstress and textile teacher. I also write novels, poetry and childrens books. I knit, crochet, embroider, naal bind and paint and restore furniture. We also have been having a heat wave here in Germany. For the last 4-5 weeks it was extremely hot and almost no rain. Today we had a fire nearby. The compost place cought fire and the smoke was unbelievable. Fire brigade everywhere. I hope it cools down soon. We really need rain.
Today I am finishing my Harry Potter House Cardigan, which I have knitted in my very own colours. The pattern is from the book: Harry Potter Knitting Magic Vol.I. I love that book and I have made the Timeturner Sweater as well as the Buckbeak Sweater from this book. I also am crocheting a scrap blanket, making granny squares as well as other crochet stitches. Of course I am also sewing something. I am working on dungerees and some new pillow cases for my princess bed. And I am painting the doors in my cottage in a berry colour. I am so inspired by the beautiful colours of your house Kate.

Kate i am with you about pockets, a dress, skirt needs pockets if for nothing else than a place for your handkerchief, which i know is me being very old fashioned. I love your dress Kate, as i have made numerous of that same dress over the years because it is always comfortable to wear. When you said about 100 000 subscribers, i am so chuffed for you flower because you have such a lovely way about you and it is never the same thing twice that you are talking about. I have been making cloths for myself and five children all their lives. They are all grown up and doing well on their own. They laugh at the things I used to make them wear when they were little. Now they sew including my two boys. Two of my girls are sewers and quilters. One doesn't sew at all. I love what they create. We have sewn together at my house because I have the fabric. Our last project was making bags for the beach.

Lovely birthday cake for John. It looks delicious. Your kitty cat seems to be on the mend. My youngest has 2 cats and they are like children to her. I kept Ansel for 3 months while she was moving to Texas. The other cat, Ruby went to stay with her cousin. I’m partial to dogs but over the years the cats do end up at my house here in Ohio. My last little dog passed away a year ago in May. He was 14 years old. I decided I’m too old for another. I missed that silly cat when she came for him. Who would have thought, huh?

Kate … I found your channel a while ago, not long after I lost my husband. Instead of feeling lonely all the time, I have enjoyed squeezing onto the lime green sofa and listening. Your little videos are a breath of calm in an otherwise pretty full on world. I love that you appreciate the little things and love being creative. It’s given me the helping hand I need to do likewise. I made a baby quilt last week, for a good friend who is becoming a Grandma soon and am now hand stitching a ‘quilt as you go’ quilt for myself now, using Kaffe fabrics and Daisy & Grace diamond templates. You’d love it … bright pink red and orange 😊. Anyway, thanks again Kate. I’ll bring some gluten and dairy free goodies for the intolerant ones amongst us on the sofa. In the US a jumper is a sleeveless, collarless dress intended to be worn over a blouse, shirt, T-shirt or sweater. Years ago, I used to wear a mid -calf corduroy jumper over a heavy cashmere sweater with tights and clogs during the winter and it was lovely! No pockets because I sewed them up and removed them!

See now, that's a PROPER Victoria Sponge. The women in my family seem(ed) to only be able to make enormous, well-risen, 'foot-stool' sponges. It's an ability that I've inherited. My brother gave me Mary Berry's "Quick Bakes" book for my birthday a couple of years back. Victoria Sponge was in the 'big cakes' chapter, but the recipe comes out so small! Happy Birthday John!

I love watching your colourful, imaginative quilting skills and your loving interactions with your family. I bet you couldn't imagine that someone, (me!) would be watching you from my home on the lovely little Caribbean island of Anguilla! It's a lovely, friendly place, only 16 miles long and 5 miles wlde at its widest! The highest point is only 200 ft above sea level! There are approx16,000 lovely inhabitants and I am so lucky that I met one of them in England 56 years ago and we fell in love and married. Half our life together was in the Ascot area of England, but we've been here since 1994 and I love it. There is one golden beach and 32 other gleaming, white beaches! Millionaires and celebrities visit and have holiday homes here..... But thank you so much for sharing you enthusiasm for life, your creativity and your caring nature with others so joyously with your subscribers. (Including me, too, now!)👏❤️
