SERIES SUMMARY
The Alpha Jay Show reviews animation episodes, animated TV movies, cartoons, and other things as a main series. I have reviewed many things from Fairly Oddparents to SpongeBob to Teen Titans Go to The Amazing World Of Gumball and many more. Expect a fair, open-minded and non-pandering review of whatever episode I use. Bear in mind while I do use copyrighted material, it is highly likely that my content falls under the legal defense of fair use.

SHOW SUMMARY
Scrooge McDuck is back in this reboot of the late-'80s animated series. He gains guardianship of grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie when Donald Duck reluctantly takes them to McDuck Manor, the wonder of which enthralls the mischievous triplets. While living with their trillionaire relative, the boys learn long-held family secrets and unleash symbolic artifacts from Scrooge's past. The threesome's antics send the family on a number of adventures, which include Webby Vanderquack, the granddaughter of Scrooge's housekeeper, Mrs. Beakley. The show's animation style is inspired by the classic comic designs of animator Carl Barks. -- Google Search

Ended up loving this show
after you finish can you reveiw troll hunters an we bear bears ice king
You should really review all the seasons, since the show just ended
How a reboot should be
1. Starts different but doesn’t forget its past
2. Improves characters and graphics
3. Optional: Story telling being more open.
Nicky Richtofen much like ninja turtles 2012
Who else is watching after the finale
I think the ducktales reboot did very well for a reboot, and also added new things that helped the show and the possible stories to tell. Also, that animation is a breath of fresh air for 2D animation, great video
+Bacun I love the depth of the show. It's so great.
The fact that you say "Huey, Louie and Dewey" instead of "Huey, Dewey and Louie" is really weird.. Probably because I'm so used to hearing "Huey, Dewey and Louie". Anyways, great review, as usual.
Lol, I say Louie, Huey, and Dewey.
@@PxndaCakes Louie makes more sense as the oldest child tbh
@@alofii6106 What if they reboot the show again and make Louie the oldest?
@@kirakardashian8996 that seems unnecessary
I think the DuckTales Reboot is a reboot done right! I love this show and can't wait to watch more!
Ditto.^^
Donald is voiced by Tony Anselmo here, same as usual. He just has a lot more dialogue.
+meg elizabeth Thank you for commenting. ^^
Good video by the way.
+meg elizabeth Thank you!
This reboot most definitely started off well. The slick animation, the beautiful comic book-esque art style (the muted, but still varied palette of colors, and especially the halftones), the charming characters, the adventurous spirit and the faithfulness to the original are the makings of a show with so much promise, which _DuckTales 2017_ is.
It also succeeds the same way that Samurai Jack S5 does; it doesn’t alienate anyone who has minimal to no knowledge about the original show or the 1960’s comics the original is based off of.
But I’m a little weary about a few things. It’s funny that you use _The Loud House_ for comparisons sake, because the first of my worries is the kids stealing the spotlight from the other characters, which Lincoln and Clyde have been accused of and are kinda guilty of, especially in the second season of _The Loud House_. While it’s understandable with Lincoln and Clyde, it’s less so with this show, considering that it’ll have an overarching plot where multiple characters are clearly going to be of equal importance, and thus can’t be overshadowed.
My second worry is the series trying to be _too_ modern; that expresses itself very well in the sixth (?) episode, with the discount Mark Zuckerberg-esque character. Yeah, that was not a good episode.
Nevertheless, I still have the highest hopes for this show. This has already cemented itself as one of the animated greats in Disney television, along with _Phineas and Ferb_, _Gravity Falls_, _Star vs. the Forces of Evil_ and _Wander Over Yonder_.
And yes, agreed on the theme songs for these shows being well-done.
Good vid as always, Jay. *wink*
+The One and Only C. R. Martin Great analysis, as always my classy friend.
The One and Only C. R. Martin it’s because they’re airing the episodes out of order😅
The One and Only C. R. Martin hey c.r martin
This show and Milo Murphy's Law are basically my favorite shows of the current Disney XD lineup.
I grew up reading Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics, whether they're the classic stories from Carl Barks, the comics in the Dutch Donald Duck magazines and albums, or the Italian ones featured in pocketbooks. DuckTales 2017 is basically a love letter to both the original DuckTales, as well as Carl Barks's comics that inspired DuckTales.
+ArendAlphaEagle I hope to get around to the original one day.
Didn't watch the original DuckTales.
But so far this is reboot is looking pretty clean to me :)!
+TheSinisterSableye Agreed!
Okay, I have GOT to get into this show. I never really got into the reboot because of school and other interests getting in the way.
+Crow Rider I wholeheartedly recommend it.
What do you think of the DuckTales 2017 Reboot? Anyone seen the original DuckTales first?
IT's alright. Not a fan of Huey, Dewey, and Louie sounding not like their uncle but it has premise. The animation feels way better than the Rob Renzetti Mickey Mouse cartoons, and I like the over-arching storyline.
Only shame is what Secret Screenings talked about with Disney XD changing the schedule to switch episodes order for holidays and other things.
Alpha Jay Show I’ve seen the movie
it's great to see a return for nostalgia
especially when I went back to seeing not only DuckTales but also TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck and Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers
"Start off with this amazing pilot" shows crashed plane
Alpha Jay Show have you seen my comment for you to review ren seeks help from ren and simpy adult party cartoon. Please review ren seeks help from ren and simpy adult party cartoon. I love you alpha jay show.
Dude I never watched the original but heard great things about the reboot, so I watched the pilot.
Was IMMEDIATELY hooked, watched the whole series twice.
Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention the amazing voice acting, especially from David Tennant (Scrooge) and all the characters in general.
David Tennant was amazing in this pilot as Scrooge McDuck
I'm glad he still has work after his run on Doctor Who ended. I don't watch Doctor Who, so the only other thing I've seen him in is Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire.
Dude, he's in a lot of great things. Look it up. :)
I liked the tip on how to tell hewy deuey and lewy and their colors apart. Also I agree this is the perfect way to do a reboot and the show started off great Cartoon Network can really learn from this on how to do a great reboot since they seem to want to do reboots right now but seem to fail at it.
+Drawingfandom That's pretty spot on.
Drawingfandom Samurai Jack is great IMO
How could you not bring up the fact that Scrooge is voiced by David Tennent? His voice acting is AMAZING
Didn't know it rebooted, cool!
That was masterful ad placement
I also love the foreshadowing in the first episode, if you've seen the whole show, I suggest you rewatch it, because there are so many hidden elements and story details sprinkled through the show that you don't realize at first.
YES I AM NOT THE ONLY FAN OF THE REBOOT!!!
Pabu The Dumb Nerd trust me, almost everyone is or should be
Yeah. It is someone who doesn't like it that is rare
I gotta love that awesome Scottish accent! 🏴
I could mention how certain paintings found on the wall are made in the same style as Carl Barks's paintings about the life of Scrooge McDuck, one of the numerous characters that he created for the comics he wrote and drew.
Many of these became recurring characters in the numerous Donald Duck comics, that are quite popular here and there in europe, in Finland for example, we have this weekly magazine "Aku Ankka" with a lot of stories with Donald Duck and other Disney characters. I find it a bit funny how Donald Duck seems more popular than Mickey Mouse in that magazine, and the other release "Aku Ankan Taskukirja" which mainly focuses on the Italian comics, a big chunk taken from the "Topolino" magazine, which is named after Mickey Mouse.
But yeah, it's also interesting how characters like Gladstone, Magica, Gyro, Beagle Boys and Scrooge don't make much appearances in animation aside from DuckTales and a few specials, like the one where Goofy was a football coach and the one where Scrooge played the main role of Dickens's Christmas Carol.
(also, sorry if I got some of the names wrong, I'm very used to the Finnish translations.)
Fun fact: Flintheart Glomgold was originally South African in comics. Here promoting his Scottish nature makes it clear he's hiding it.
+Franciszek Rychlewicz I did not know that.
*Cue "The More You Know" theme*
Funner fact. Disney is trying to get voice actors of the same nationality as their characters. Scrooge is voiced by Scottish David Tennat for example. Glomgold is voiced by a South African. Then in Season 2 ep3, it is revealed that Glomgold is in fact from South Africa and is faking his Scottish accent as part of his rivalry with Scrooge.
Spoilers, kinda. Not really.
Flintheart Glomgold isn't even his real name. Lol.
Well you just predicted something I guess
One thing I found funny is how Scrooge is having a business meeting with literal vultures. Just something I got a chuckle out of.
6:05-6:07 Yeah, you’re gonna see that. Louie: most “evil” triplet, ye is the most emotional triplet 🤔
Louie is my favorite though.
But he has betrayed his family
@@peavn1680 not that much
I just had a nightmare. I dreamt the the sbsp eps "Yours, Mine, and Mine" was aired on every channel 24/7
Condolinces.
I have seen some of the original Ducktales, but I don't remember much of it. I remember the boys having the typical troublemaker stereotype personality and the other characters didn't have a whole lot to go off of either, but it wasn't bad. But, this one gives a whole lot more to all the characters, plot, and surroundings that the original lacked. It's good to see when reboots learn from the originals mistakes and go above and beyond!
The 1980's one warned about time traveling history changers.. Mandela effect
Look mom I'm on T.V.
+MegaMangos Lol
Your profile picture made me choke on my sandwich
The ducktales reboot started off great and I love it also I love to see a darkwing duck reboot
If you like the show I would highly recommend the original comics by Carl Barks that was the inspiration for DuckTales. Fantagraphics has a great collection of some of those at this point. You can also google "Carl Barks oil paintings" and see some of the paintings they referenced in the new show. Some of these are "Flying Dutchman"/ "Always another rainbow"/ "Nobody's Spending Fool".
Welcome to the DuckTales 2017 Reboot, Alpha Jay
I think it started out amazingly!
+Melon Tart Nice to see ya back!
Wow I love this show. It’s amazing and has a good plot, I have a feeling they will explore more about Scrooge later in the series, hah I’ve seen so many XD
I never watched the old one, but I have a feeling i don’t even need to because the reboot portrayed the plot so well! Your videos are really inspiring and I hope to see more from you!.
Don't expect mom anytime, currently. It does flesh out the characters as it goes on though.
+Jarro Thoughts I expect it sometime though.
as do we all.
@@JarroHood Mom is back!
Seems you were wrong.
I thought I was the only crazy one to binge watch the whole series in just 1 week 😅
8:04 So relatable; It’s like when you’re cutting a piece of paper or something with scissors and it criples the paper.
Edit: Strange innocuous comment
UGHHH, so ANNOYING! 😅
I just got into the show and your video perfectly explains my favorite things about ducktales, great review!
I may not know if the show did well because I still didn't saw the whole video
But I do know that opening is still amazing as always
you should do pilot reviews, and say if you believe if they should get their own show. (start with Becky Prim)
"Make sure to leave a comment, I read all of them!"
Yeah right. I bet you won't see this one.
It didn't start well, I STARTED FANTASTICLY AMAZING!!!
This reboot is amazing!
Take notes everyone, THIS is how you reboot a show!
It's not perfect but it probably definitely is much better than a lot of reboots like the total drama one.
That was a great and very detailed review.
I gotta say, as someone who grew up reading the donald duck etc comics, this looks amazing. It really does look like what I imagined the things that happened in the comics, like a fantasy come to life, and I love it.
Oh sweet. This is awesome. I love the video.
And last time I was this early, Dr. Robotnik ran faster than Sonic.
+4snek WolFirE Ayy, thanks for stopping by.
Can you do more of this show
I love your reviews
+Kawaii Kiwi Thank you!
I love the jokes in this episode.
Hooray! Woo Hoo! Alpha Jay did a review on Duck Tales! Woo Hoo!
+Moondoria Woo-oo!
9:03 - 9:27: Better than the Cliched "And then the Opposite Happens", right?
I always got Louie from Luigi, who wears green
I've seen the episodes a few times on Disney Channel. I never saw the original.
Alpha Jay, you should talk about this show again. From all of the reactors and reviews I've seen (Blue Order, Headband Guy, Seannicus, etc), they've unanimously enjoyed the series. I'm in the same boat, I love the series and kind of think it's underrated (ie, it's not talked about often).
There's lots of funny moments, fantastic arcs for most of the characters, cool animation, and much more.
There's rarely a bad episode. If there is one, it's usually "eh" or "meh" at worst. Even in some of those bad episodes are some of the best jokes/animations in the series.
What I will tell you without spoilers is that this show starts out pretty strong and then ends with a bang. You should totally check it out.
It's the Future 4 years later and I'm pretty sure the show has officially ended.
I never watched the og DuckTales me and my sister might but the reboot was actually pretty good I felt like some of the plots were good some being a little bit worse than others *cough cough* fowl.
And a few loose ends and things that you would think would be brought up again later as an actual episode but never did.
Other than that the whole reboot was pretty good.
It's actually something I would rewatch and not really get bored of.
Omg you really helped me remember their names.
I just noticed some cool. Before Donald changes into his suit Jacket he is wearing the traditional blue sailor shirt from the cartoons but when he gets hired on by the baddies he gets his black sailor shirt from the Carl Banks comics.
New to the channel can you do more DuckTales reviews now it's back on Disney channel? Notification squad
Some paintings are references to carl barks art
This show started out RIGHT.
I kind of want to watch these DuckTales dissections more often, because the premise of DuckTales is very similar to the premise of this project I'm working on, what with the idea of a group of people going on adventures for the sake of adventures, and I feel like I could learn a lot from it. I honestly just wanna focus on writing for now, because thinking about the visual flaws just straight up makes me uncomfortable.
Also 1:54 I USED TO HANG AROUND DAVE SMITHS UA-cam CHANNEL ALL THE TIME AND HEARING THAT HE GOT A JOB AT DISNEY IS JUST STRAIGHT UP AWESOME
See, Ducktales 2017 is one of those shows, where every episode I've seen is good. Every episode I've actually watched is structurally competent (even my current favorite show has structure problems at times), but I just can't get into it. I blame the voice work on the kids 1000%. The show has good voice direction, but the voices for the kids make them sound like they are in they're late teens! If these were suppose to be kids in their early teens, I could make a pass, like I give Star VS and Milo Murphys Law, but they are supposed to be these kids, and it's distracting. It's easy for me to see the good character writing, but impossible for me to get attached to their characters because I'm so aware I'm hearing a voice. Now, it's okay for a voice actor to be recognizable, if they blend into the character really well (like Weird Al blends with Milo) but these voice actors are ones I recognize because they are EVERYWHERE on Disney. Just doesn't blend, no matter how good their delivery is. It's a great show, but have just failed at attaching myself to it, no matter how good it is.
I mean, I hate to continue to bring up MML, but the voice actor for Webby is the same voice actor for Sara (Milo's sister), and the voices and delivery is very similar sometimes, but the voice fits the Sara character, who is an older teen, more then it fits Webby, so there are moments when I hear Webby talking, and I become very aware that I'm listening to that voice actor. Distracting.
One thing that you mentioned that I agree with, Disney XD has been killing it with characterization. Hell, on some of their shows the good character writing and the viewers attachment to the characters save whole episodes.
Good video, and a long one too! Yay XD
+shelby drury This new review run of mine has been filled with long videos. I don't know how it gets done lol
Alpha Jay Show I've just assumed that you've been using witchcraft to get it done at this point XD
Hey, do you want their OLD voices back?
Strong start but its on hiatus. With no new eps for awhile its slowed down. So it doesnt get aired as much. But, and that's a big but when it comes back the ratings may skyrocket. All and all I say Ducktales 2017 hits all the marks adds and includes all the characters and handles them well. It grabs references and homages from all forms of Ducktales media and melds em together really well. The only other time a Reboot do this and do it as well was TMNT 2012. So in conclusion this was a heartwarming, adventurous and action packed making this a definitive Reboot.
I'm also a superfan of the Ducktales reboot.
I know my comment is late but can you talk about the recent duck tales arc since you said you will be reviewing it more ?
+Chinua Alibatya Sure! The link for requests is in the description below.
I think it's AWESOME!^^
*i think I heard from somewhere the animator for the show has a deviantart. He's called "TheGraffitiSoul."*
It started off well, but it quickly descended in hindsight.
There's practically no Scrooge and waaay too much Schtick with Webby despite being sheltered and trained to handle anything, BUT one uping the even the most street savy boy of the trio when things get hairy.
Instead of an arc with her getting use to being out with people for a change, Webby ends up doing pretty much better than Huey Duey and Louie. Granted this is much better than old Webby but that is not saying much at all.
On that topic, The three brothers were usually a LOT more capable than how they're portrayed in both the original show and especially the comics.
It becomes even more apparent considering the new show claims to take more inspiration from the comics. The boys are young and inexperienced compared to how they'd be older but they were so resourceful, they even showed Scrooge a thing or two in some chapters, teaching the old duck some new tricks.
The new show makes Huey Deuy and Louie practically bumbling mooks and some scenes are unbearable.
I'm glad Ducktales is back but I pray to the duck waifu gods that the writing gets better for the boys and Webby cause I'm guessing we're not getting as much Beakly, Launchpad and Scrooge compared to the young ducks.
HellRay Disney mixed up the episode order so it ruins the flow the episodes were intended to have
Yeah Im aware, especially the mt Neverest epthat was pushed up cause it was a ep with snow.
