There are some incredible drummers that grace this earth, but none better or more versatile than Vinnie, he is simply the greatest drummer of my generation
Love Vin, followed his playing since 1978. But when people say how he’s the greatest in the world, I have to question how many drummers they really know. There is no greatest.
I would say he's one of the most versatile ever. He can be thrown into any musical situation and shine. As far as the greatest? I'd say he's on the Mount Rushmore of drumming, for sure.
@@cristianmolina8148, I saw Billy Cobham 2 times Live in Santiago Chile , he is excellent, but Vinnie's nuances, improvisations and tempo changes are even better.
I think vinnie is so good at reading sheet music he always knows where he's at. thats why he can do outrageous stuff and never get lost. I swear he makes me lose the one all the time while im listening to him
Vinnie your smocking as usual, the world's a great place when your drumming in it. Thanks for the great beats, fills and outstanding solos. Play on my brother.
It sounds so much better coz the audio came from the official released tracks from Jeff Richman’s Live from the Baked Potato CD’s. Only these 2 tracks w/ Vinnie I believe were officially released. Even though the official tracks were shortened compared to the original performance, the uploader did a great job editing the video to match the tracks. Cheers!
How can he be so damn good at every type of music, It takes a lifetime to kind of master one form, it makes me sick almost lol, I love Vinnie, but it baffles me how he just does everything at an inhuman level, and I am still trying to be a good intermediate drummer.
Jeff Richman had a regular gig at the Baked Potato where he'd bring new charts to each gig and whoever was in the band that night would read it down unrehearsed. He put out a 2-CD set from these gigs around 2000 or 2001, which is what this video came from. It's an absolutely killer compilation of fantastic performances from the best of the best LA musicians of the era.
Good drummer, overplays too much for my liking, cannot keep a straight beat for long without some rapid ADHD fill, or some odd hit that sits at the last 32nd of the bar. It gets old eventually. The way Vinnie plays, the song gets lost within his playing, and he is on his own island, while others have to hold the song together.

Vinnie is probably the best drummer in the world today, nothing else comes close, sublime nuances and rhythms
Check out his friend Vito Rezza, Drums of Avalon and progeny
I Would say Vinnie and Tom Lang are Two Of The Best Drummer's Around. Simply Put.
Let's not forget Weckle.
agreed with Weckl..for me both (vinnie and dave) are above the rest and same leaguel..anyways, my fav drummer still Billy Cobham..

Much improved sound quality! I just wish all the musicians were listed 😫. The sax player's fantastic, who ever he is.

Vinnie Colaiuta es el mejor baterista del mundo y punto final. ❤

man, these were good years for Vinnie :-) ( I know, they're all good. But the A Custom years are iconic)
Gem
Wooow
Any body know what type of Zildjians Vinnie’s probably got right here? Gosh though they sound absolutely awesome!
my guess would be A customs
Yeah, A Customs I Reckon
The quality of this gig is amazing! I've listened to this gig hundreds of times but never this version. Do you have both sets?
7:22 to 8:44 🔥🔥🔥😅👏
abe srs. performance is sooo good here...
why cut at 7:40?
The video has been edited to match the (officially released) CD audio. There are a couple spots.
Did Vinnie create time?
No, Time created Vinnie. 😁
Is that a plate of sushi by Vinnie's kit?
He's reading this song about half the time isn't he 🤘monster reader

Esse vídeo não é no baked potato é no Catalina jazz grill !!!

I think Vinnie found a glitch in the matrix.
Nobody has that feel
Unhinged technical fusion drumming
Vinnie is the father of Nicolas Viccaro.

I think Anthony's throwing Vinnie a bit..
