It took me a Really long time to come around to this album, probably because when it came out I was at the heavier fuzzier end of the psychedelic spectrum and hadn’t been listening to much animal collective. Now though, I recognize its brilliance and its place in the animal collective cannon. And watching this makes me really wish I’d seen them tour behind this record. Fantastic! And watching this gives me an even greater appreciation for the album, as they replicate it so faithfully with a different mix.
I definitely had to warm up to it as well. I think I just didn't like the aesthetic of the album at first. But one day on a 3 hour bus ride home I said fuck it and listened to the album and it really grew on me.
i had a similar reaction! it was only when I saw the live shows for this album that I finally felt I understood why the album sounded the way it did and what they were going for
word, i consider it a good continuation of MPP and the one after it...poppy...good low end...dope hooks with some wonkiness lol saw someone call it nickelodeon music rofl also they newest album is sounding amaze
@@WiloPolis03 Richie is right i think its just panda bear has that freaky perfect pitch shit and he comes in so good on the off-beat... It just would be hard/ scary to do that live with the adrenline pumping
This is a great vocal performance by Panda & Avey both, interlocked like no other vocal duo I have ever heard! I didn't love this album, as I found the production a little too sterile and shiny but the tunes definitely stand up on their own live. I always see people praising Panda's vox and rightly so but what Avey does is totally unique, eccentric as hell and equally impressive.
No, they were recording that a year later. The Kaleidoloop takes SD cards, so if it had happened beforehand they'd have been able to use it. But knowing they plunder world music and field recordings I'd say it's likely some deep cut from elsewhere.
Jeremy Hyman, touring member during the Painting With Tour. He’s from Ponytail and Slasher Flicks. I’m assuming Panda didn’t drum since they need more hands on synths and it might be hard to drum and hocket at the same time.
My Autobiography A Fanfic Don’t know. Digital sounded flatter to me. Might just be the preamp in my turntable. Might get similar results adjusting eq on the digital version. Whatever the reason, I did play them back side by side, which is how I formed my opinion on that. Still, nothing comes close to the live releases for PW.
Hmm I think it has that raw energy just translated in a more synth inspired way. But I agree that it’s not my absolute favorite sound from them. Strawberry jam is so perfect it’s hard to match that energy with anything.
they could record white noise, and tell me it was the sound of organisms evolving, and i'd still worship the ground they walk on
They did that already, it’s called Tangerine Reef
Animal. Collective. 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙😄
geez how much i love this performance. i like the guys gently headbanging while jeremy hittimg the drums with 7 arms and 7 legs
Pandas vocals on floridada are mint af
Sounds so darn good
Harmonize
No idea what this means, but both Panda and Mints are fresh

also they newest album is sounding amaze
Perfectly articulated.
yo
This may genuinely be one of the best performances in the history of recorded music.
The drummers T shirt is really cool,
also Painting With is a 10/10.
one of their best live performances ever. nearly flawless
Davey's lungs must be giant. I'm guessing 6+ liters in volume
Ohhh my ears are sooo happy..
Man these guys have come so far. Always will have a special place in my heart for them 💫
this is so much better, than studio version
LITERALLY I never really gave PW a chance but I like this
the first song is sounding really good...smoother and wavier less fried
'recycling' has something. amazing track
FloriDada is so sick
Total genius's. So impressive
I remember that drummer from the band Ponytail. High energy music it was
they frickin Rippppp, was just thinking about them recently. "oh no! i'm late for school!!!" dopeness
15:12 jeremy goes absolutely bonkers on this transition
absolutely bonkers, or....kinda bonkers?
I keep coming back to this one over and over....the vocals are what magic tries to be.
3:52 Why did that sound a lot like willy wonkas laugh? hahahah
anyways gotta love avey and his vocals
i swear what happens at 12:35 isnt even possible
There has to be some effects, right?? Not saying that's a bad thing
@@WiloPolis03 nope! avey is singing on the on beat and panda is singing on the off beat. insanity.
@@richieborman4342 I swear these dudes are sorcerers lmao
It’s too good

Not even 9000 views? What in the hell.

Animal .....great performance / Amazon tribes
finally its on yt!
Back again just to see all of them in a complete formation. Blesssssssssss
tratar o sangue
jeremy looks so exhausted omg
this is mike patton with kid gloves
Probably the most cerebral and captivating era of the band so far
True this session is showing this record in a new light
lol he said cerebral

Thought the opening stuff Avey was doing was using the field recordings from “Meeting of the Waters”
No, they were recording that a year later. The Kaleidoloop takes SD cards, so if it had happened beforehand they'd have been able to use it. But knowing they plunder world music and field recordings I'd say it's likely some deep cut from elsewhere.
@@myautobiographyafanfic1413 They recorded it in early 2016 tho
Admittedly didn't know that till I looked it up just now
amazinnnng
I honestly like Avey's vocals better than Panda's especially for Floridada.
LAYERS
benis
The firs song sounds like you tell me where, by the new pornographers
Tell me a band more fun to watch live.... let alone listen to
How have I never heard this first song?!
já era...é outra demanda...é só pra quem tá querendo...
How did they do lying in the grass
Beautiful
damn this is soooo good
hyman!
where is the drummer?
Very cool
25:07 wow panda.. great vox
Who is the dude playing drums and why isn't panda???
Thought it was Deakin but it could be a touring member
Jeremy Hyman, touring member during the Painting With Tour. He’s from Ponytail and Slasher Flicks. I’m assuming Panda didn’t drum since they need more hands on synths and it might be hard to drum and hocket at the same time.
fantastic!
Perfect
Protekt this wonderful band
PW live is so great, I wish the studio album had that same energy and dynamics. Though the vinyl does sound a bit better than the digital version.
How would less dynamic range make the album better?
My Autobiography A Fanfic

I thought this might have been glass animals I thought wrong
Lucky you. This is way better.
anyone got a name for the drummer on this session?
Jeremy. Don't know his last name.
Jeremy Hyman, used to drum for Ponytail and Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks
Not my favorite sound from them..... Lacks the raw energy of shit like For Reverend Green or Safer....
Hmm I think it has that raw energy just translated in a more synth inspired way. But I agree that it’s not my absolute favorite sound from them. Strawberry jam is so perfect it’s hard to match that energy with anything.
Love it but the drummer needs to take it easy its too loud for the effects
Too much drugs, lol
not enough drug
well id say this is the correct amount of drugs
So happy to see recent comments praising this album. Yes, the live show (DC 9:30 club anyone?) was as good as this and then some.
