GordonRamses When I saw them in Petaluma, CA in April 2011 it was the first show of the CHz tour, and they OPENED with “Wide Eyed” and I was fuckin blown down to the ground.
loved all of them. now i know who to attribute the incredible texture to though, geologist! panda bears harmonies were deliberate and flowing, beutiful, and well thought out. avey taire definatly still representing his own style, while still somehow avoiding repitition or regression. amazing. the continuity of these guys are awesome. i feel like you could take any song off whatever album and put it in front of any other song of one of their other albums, and it would sound like a coherent idea
Yup. And then fast-forward a few years, Panda released The Preakness on that Crossroads EP and Deak put Country Report on Sleep Cycle. But Call Home (Buy Grapes) was never on anything else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Otamatoad yep. It’s called live in the land of the sky. Saw it live in a small experimental art house and it was amazing! Check it out! Met him too he seemed very chill.
@@obdeisibcirrus993 That's great to hear because I remember being disappointed when he said in an interview that he has no interest in releasing any solo material. Glad he changed his mind a little bit.
i mean the "animal collective style" is all their style because they are the band. like the band's sound comes from contributions of all members. nobody defined the sound for them. Deakin's personal style contributes to anco's overall sound so it makes sense they would sound similar. Also i'm sure he wrote exactly what he was feeling anyways, so if his creative output sounds like anco then that's his style. I mean, he is in the band after all.
Who know when that will be. Hopefully this year because apparently it was originally set to release last year but they went on tour with ChZ. I loved seeing the support people were throwing at deak when they played wide eyed though =)
So Avey is bottom-right and Deakin is top-right. That much seems clear to me. But is it Panda Bear or Geologist who has the fierce-looking teeth? Geologist? My best guess considering the face paint in the top-left portrait reminds me of a panda's coloration. I wonder why they (and/or whoever made the art) decided to have only one of them look genuinely intimidating, lol. If I didn't know any better I'd assume that he's the more abrasive personality of the 4, but they're all chill dudes haha.
Upgrade2344 living in the land of the sky is the name, I believe. It was a cd that was on sale of his opening set for panda bears last tour. I quite enjoy it.
@rosss888 I prefered Deakin's version before, it was kinda fresh or something like that for me, but after a while I enjoy Avey's song the most, although it's a typical sound from him.
@JoshuaSuperham Really? So I guess Panda's Favorite is Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished? Or Campfire Songs? And Avey's would be Strawberry Jam? What do you think?
Looking back, this EP almost perfectly demonstrates what each AC member brings to the collective.
You'd think Geologist brought more bug sounds to the table.
Deakin is the rare pearl of the band, when he appears singing and making music, it takes another dimension, again.
Deakin needs to sing more

Have you heard is solo album Sleep Cycle?
@@mikeexits Yes, it is very good. Better than Painting With, in my opinion.
@@ChristianTheChicken Doesn't say much. Almost anything is better than Painting With.
@@Aa-dn1oq heh, you don’t know what your talking about kid. Painting with is a masterpiece.

Goddamn the deak's song is fucking fantastic
Almost one year later I still asking me why that song wasn't included in Sleep Cycle.
His album was amazing anyway.
I personally like the Preakness the best. Can't wait to see him in Madison
I was there!
Deakin needs to drop another solo project, but not take 7 years this time
Jacob Terkel and not take people’s money lol
They all take 7 years. Even as a collective.
be the change you want o see in the world
Avey Tare nails it.
He took those three years off to write "Wide Eyed."
god damn deakins vocals are so underrated
Based Deak
all hail based legend lord god emporer ruler master deak
What's deak?
Deakin's but Avey Tare's is a close second for me
deakin sounds like he sung in the flowers
He didn't tho
I know avey sings every thing panda does a bit
@@BokorChannel they each sing the songs that they wrote it seems. Kind of like the Beatles. Pretty evenly split I think.
Deakin sounds here like trying so bad to sound as merry weather, for compensed the trauma of haven't been in that album and that apotheosic AC era
my fav in general is avey, but deakin nailed it here! great upload, cheers!
I feel like an AC's hug that takes off all my worries and sad feelings. This upload made my day and night, thanks!
:D
in aveys song it sounds like a sample from one of the ocarina of time dungeons
Jailhouse was in transveral temporal gyrus!
Which part?!?!?!
Yup. And then fast-forward a few years, Panda released The Preakness on that Crossroads EP and Deak put Country Report on Sleep Cycle. But Call Home (Buy Grapes) was never on anything else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can't believe this is the first time I've heard of this, I love the early version of the Preakness
Still sitting on the edge of my seat for Deakin to record his album
I didn't even know this ep existed
It would be great if Geologist did an ambient/drone album, but 2 minutes doesn't cut it.
He released one last year, have you heard it?
Truman Chance he did?

Deakin is sitting on AOTY right now guys, I hope to god you understand this.
+Ian Nemoy SOLO
love the crop marks
Panda Bear rocks lol
Interesting... I bought the big vinyl box set of TOMBOY and it's got the preakness on it

Av top left
Deak top right
Geo bottom left
Panda bottom right
It sux cos I had this when it first came out but I lost it :(
you didn't keep it
its only physically available in cassette form. you can just download the .zip from any random website though. just google it
Wouldn't it be interesting if Geologist made an album? It would be cool to hear what he would come up with.
I know Geo has a lot of potential, judging how the Meeting of the Waters EP sounded. I'm very interested in hearing a solo Geologist record.
Huh, which one is that?

@rosss888 Deakin is a part of Animal Collective so how is he scooping on their style? That is just his style and part in the band
its origional that's all that really matters.
now does this cassette relate Keep Company at all? jw
deakin, my god
i love it
Scoopin? He's Deakin. You know he's in the band right?
@a7xskate44 I'll give it a shot, video response when finished
This EP used to be in Apple Music. Why did they remove it?
KeEP
Jailhouse
Uhhh.. How can Deakin take Animal Collective's style? They ARE Animal Collective..
for this ep
Deakin = Avey > Geologst > Panda
+Earn Raku I was thinking Panda = Deakin>Avey>Geologist (for this)
It's not a contest
he dave chappelled it and went to africa
like
Do you not know what this whole ordeal with Keep Co. was about?
Justin carlisle
Eh....it's ok. Doesn't seem like they put much effort into this at all.
No big deal though. :) Still the best band of the past decade.
