    Just wanted to say thank you for bringing Ken onto your show to share his knowledge, and to Ken for taking the time to do it. I also found he was very responsive to email and gave me hope that I can get the rear float I need .... even when the dealer and local shops say it's not possible. Still trying to make it happen, but now I have hope thanks to Ken

    I bought a 2 valve setup from summit last spring, hoping to eliminate the need to change the hoses for my hydraulic lift for the mower deck. It leaks down very fast, like 20 seconds. I've been communicating with Ryan at summit, the only help he has given is to buy a check valve for $100.00. How difficult would it be to rebuild the valves. My thought was to get a valve from Surplus Supply for $119.95, if it's not rebuildable.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like there is a bit of a misunderstanding on one part here. The hydraulic pressure in the system does not move the valve nor does it assist in moving the valve. Only the electric coil moves the valve. Now that's not to say that if the valve was partially stuck in one position applying pressure won't assist in getting unstuck (however unlikely) but it does not assist in moving the valve back and forth under normal operation. If the valve is stuck in one position all the pressure in the tractor won't help as the fluid is just passing through the valve. In fact if you have pressure in the system, say the system is in bypass, that may actually prevent the valve from moving. Another issue you may encounter is corrosion between the electric solenoid and the valve body this can insulate the valve and weaken magnetic field and prevent the valve from moving. Great video Tim and Ken, it's a great service to the tractor population.

  • @thegreatnorthwoodswithbb2863

    So you are saying it's okay to use the valve with nothing hooked up so you are deadheading it didn't think that was highly recommended for any hydraulics... Put a lot of pressure in the lines with nowhere to go 🤔 I'll just keep trusting my own judgment I guess

    Tim and Ken. I have a 2019 1025R with the Artillian Plow and Pallet Rack with the Artillian Diverter mounted to the right hand side of the loader. I would very much like to get the Single Point Hydraulics because I have a lot of trouble mounting/dismounting my loader. I don't have the hand/arm strength to manipulate those fittings like I used to. Yes, I always relieve pressure, but I still run into problems almost every time I do this.
    Eventually I would also like to install Power Beyond so I could have a hydraulic top link on my three point hitch - that would really help with my tiller, landscape rake, etc.
    My question: Will the single point setup work with the Artillian Diverter mounted on the loader? It looks like it would be really tight or I would have to move the diverter someplace. Also, what about hoses? I don't see anything on line explaining how to do this.
    Thanks, Guys. Love TTWT and Ken is the greatest - I have all kinds of his stuff!

    Do you also check the coil to be sure it is creating a magnetic field. These instructional videos are useful and enjoyable. Thanks.

    • @coypatton3160
      @coypatton3160 3 роки тому

      Good point!
      Also it is that magnetic field created by the coil that changes the hydraulic fluid direction change, not the hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic pressure agains that valve should be very near if not zero when the switch is pressed as the control valve should not be operating to that function while you press the switch. If you are operating the lever, then the magnetic field must overcome the operating pressure of the hydraulic fluid (approximately 2000psi).

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 роки тому

      It certainly does overcome the full hydraulic pressure, as I rapidly push and release the button while normally while holding the hydraulic lever open…creating a curl/clamp/curl/clamp alternating function.

    • @coypatton3160
      @coypatton3160 3 роки тому

      @@TractorTimewithTim then as I said the magnetic field must produce enough for e to overcome that pressure.
      But when ‘stuck’ is that how you continue to operate it?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately, the magnetic field is not sufficient to move it when it is stuck. That is the point of the video.

    • @ccswede
      @ccswede 3 роки тому

      @@TractorTimewithTim I meant just to be sure it is working in case that is the problem. I do not believe they make a noise. You were being very thorough and I was thinking it would be east to put a piece of metal close to see if there was magnetic field. Just a thought.

    This is exactly what I needed. Bought a Summit tractor from Atwoods, and they obviously didn't prep the tractor, needed grease, and fix some hydraulic leaks. The diverter was obviously not used because they probably didn't even know how to turn it on, nevertheless cycle hydraulics. So, just like the video said, pushed the diverter spool valve with a small flat head screwdriver (that you use for electronics or toys or something), valve got stuck in the spool, cycled hydraulics by using third function, popped out, did that a few times, checked o-rings, and eventually it worked. Note, when you do it right, it feels squishy the first couple times, then after some pressure is built up in the diverter the valve goes from squishy to pushing back at you. There is a little resistance there, so you know you did it right.

  • @EOTG_AK

    Only the magnet is acting on the valve, the 2000psi fluid will push against the face of the closed valve but won't act to actually work to move that valve. The magnets will also get corrosion along the shaft and can wear out losing power over time. They aren't hard to work on at least 👍

I do on occasion press the trigger on my joy stick, but I still had the problem. I knew the red light came on but wanted to test the coil to make sure it was OK, so I took it off and put a screw driver near it while pulling the trigger and it did attract the screw driver so I knew it was OK and I had the same problem you guys described.
