I was lucky enough to purchase one with documents proving it was used by the SAS during the Iranian embassy siege! Certainly one of my favorite English respirations
Got an S6, filter, and bag on the way from Canadialand! Sold under priced on eBay as an "adult mask Halloween prop" or something to that effect. Gotta find a good deal on an S10 next.
I have the Turkish version of it with the drinking tube, the SR10ST. The light gray-ish white version made for the Gendarmerie and police forces, while the ones made for the army (like mine) is black. You're actually pretty lucky if you find gray SR10s, they're much rarer than the black military ones.
Any ideas how to fully dismantle for a full deep clean? Tried asking that question on a Reddit gasmask group and a moderator (in rather nonmoderate language and tone) rejected my post!
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Yeah, majoritily Dirty Grey. And theres a supposed panaromic version of this mask with the visor of a Draeger and the bottom part of the S6.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 The army, sas and sat units used to use the black ones and the grey ones were usually used by police sergeants(not normal officers) and riot control officers.Oh and a fun fact Turkey also has a unit called SAS but it stands for Su Altı Savunma which means underwwater defence. :)
@@Weaponsandstuff93 My Turkish copy has black straps and no inflation. It says 1996 MKEK (short term for Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation) and NRH 2 (I don't have a single idead what that means) on it.

Hey on my 'N' size S6 the little tap for the cushion is tiny and I can barely reach it. Is there a way to change this or am I just going to have to live with it?
Hey Weaponsandstuff. I love all your videos and you have really gotten me into gas masks. I have a question though. What NBC/CBRN filters do you recommend?
I have an SF10IM from 1999. I’m wondering Is it worth anything? Being it seems pretty rare. I got mine from a former SBS guy from the U.K. It has the Microphone inside and the cable etc.
Quick question about my C3 gas mask, my mask is 60mm but has green tape on it around the exhale and inhale, is it some sort of copy....? Also it doesnt say CA(date) it just says the date with no indication that its Canadian but it says GTR
@@Weaponsandstuff93 As in safety glass rating for example ANSI Z87. I have the turkish version (SR10) and want to take it to airsoft. I couldn't find any ratings anywhere
Quick question respond if you wish. What masks are the British soldiers in the movie 28 Days Later wearing? They look similar to this one. I'm not sure if you've seen the movie I would recommend it. thank you again
Havn't seen it in years, ought to rewatch it but I think the British soldiers in the 28 days have S10s and the American soldiers in 28 weeks have M17s.

Which member used it if you know
There's a lot of old videos Man. Still going through them so I appreciate this very much thank you.
No problem, I quite want to re-talk about some of my favourite masks.

Cool
as of september 2021 there is a couple of s10s from estonia on ebay

I used to wear these back in national service.
Got one from Turkish surplus. not reggetting it.
Cool, didn't the Turkish copies of the mask often come in grey or white rubber as well?

Hey I'm glad I found this video I just bought a 1963 s6
do a top 10 best gas masks
Any idea what the S6 head harness's middle bridge/pad is made out of?
I've done a slight teardown of my s6 I got as a restoration project and I'm trying get at the exhale valve as it is stuck shut but I don't know how to get to it. Do you know?
what do those "gd" markings mean? i've seen plenty and mine has "gd kv" and "gd up" on the forehead area
ok i dont know if you will reply as you posted this along time ago im thinking of getting ne does this have any asbstos will i die if i use the filter
Depends on the filter it comes with
Do S6 filters still work? (the one with the loads of opennings) Do they cause any harm???
Mine has red tape around it.
Due to the age they are unlikely to but should be safe.
Any Idea where I can get the mk1 filter? Noones selling them.
Great video! Liked!
Cheers.
Which one is your most asbestos infested gas mask that you got
British WW2 gas masks.
How do you store them so they are safe for display
Cool mask great review
Thanks
I picked up one at army surplus and camping the other day!
Oh and my s6 is a left handed shooter😊
That's cool, a rarer S6 than the normal right handed models.
Hey on my 'N' size S6 the little tap for the cushion is tiny and I can barely reach it. Is there a way to change this or am I just going to have to live with it?
Mine was made in 1986 can I still use the filters?
Hey Weaponsandstuff. I love all your videos and you have really gotten me into gas masks. I have a question though. What NBC/CBRN filters do you recommend?
Any ABEK filters, I've already done videos on them.
cool uk s6 gas mask
Thanks
can you put a flash hood over the s6
I just got a pair of SR6s from eBay. One is from 1966 and the other 1968. A well made mask I must say. Enjoying the vids btw
Cheers, which filters did they come with?
Weaponsandstuff93 both came with the MK1 filter. (Black all metal)
The late 80s filters with the filter intake holes around the edge like a clock face are the coolest.

Yeah it's probably worth a bit, I see the special S10 variants being sold on eBay for around £100 quite often.
I just bought an S6 today, unfortunately didnt come with the bag
You didn't blow up the inside cushion ,you just opened it to allow air in then sealed it.
You should do a list of badass looking gas masks
I sort of already have.
Weaponsandstuff93 whats the video called?
Top 10 scariest gas masks.
does anyone know if you can buy lenses for the S6? One of the lenses in my dad's old service mask has shattered and I'm looking to replace it
I was about to mention to make a review about it. Then i saw the notification.
I've talked about it before though, this is just an updated video.
How much should it cost u might say it in vid but askin halfway through
£30 maybe, depending on condition and spares.
Quick question about my C3 gas mask, my mask is 60mm but has green tape on it around the exhale and inhale, is it some sort of copy....? Also it doesnt say CA(date) it just says the date with no indication that its Canadian but it says GTR
It is a Danish version of the mask, they are not easy to find
Do you think the head harness would work with the S10? (Thatcher stuff)
It's a bit different so I doubt it.
Thatcher? What
Would a good condition s6 still offer protection or is it too old now?
Yes it would, any mask that make a seal and an in-date filter will give protection
is the head harness removable?
There are clips at the top but I've never tried taking them apart.
My mask is leaking from the chin. Can you make a video about using it?
My S6 is from 1978 is that early or late made
Basically in the middle they are from about the 1960s to 1980
Hey I'm kinda late but is there anywhere I can find ratings for the masks lens?
As in what it's made from etc? This will be a fairly old weak plastic, newer masks generally use polycarbonate which is far stronger.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 As in safety glass rating for example ANSI Z87. I have the turkish version (SR10) and want to take it to airsoft. I couldn't find any ratings anywhere
@@ardaasil8560 Don't use a real gas mask in airsoft, especially something uncommon like yours. You're just gonna destroy it.
does anybody know if the filters have asbestos in them?
The early 1960s British 40mm filters apparently did but all the ones from the 70s/80s or later should not.
Can it take 40mm filter?

I'm pretty sure they're using S10s. I don't remember them looking long enough to qualify as FM12s.
Havn't seen it in years, ought to rewatch it but I think the British soldiers in the 28 days have S10s and the American soldiers in 28 weeks have M17s.
I think the British soldiers in 28 weeks have the M17 gas mask.
I have this one :)
my s6 sports a stamp saying 1971. Mean looking masks hope we don't need them any time soon
Well it's a retired mask now
So the filters are safe to use but i will buy a newer one just to be safe
Yes and good idea
@@Weaponsandstuff93 would i have to clean it first and if so how
If I remained in Manchester instead of moving to Malaysia, I would have this gas mask ages ago....
I believe the Scottish soldiers in Doomsday wear these gas masks.
Correct despite the rest of their equipment matching the S10 era.
the SAS soldiers in the iranian embassy siege in the 80s also wore the s6 mask, this was a few years before the s10 came about
and not only that, the movie about it even replicates the s6 being worn by the sas right
I call this the snorkel mask
BINGO BANGO BONGO
i got one today for 25€ with bag and filter in corona times!, got very lucky.
