Another way instead of revving 3k since that is quite a bit in the ol girl holding it a few seconds multiple times especially when it's cold, and instead of taking it for a drive incase it may be immobile for whatever reason. Start the truck and turn your heater on hot as it'll go and the fan speed 1 notch before maxed (personal preference) and with a throttle depressor slowly and steadily set the tool holding between say 18-2300 or just 2k is what I do but I say the range incase straight pipes are involved lol. With heat on and idle at 2k grab a drink and chill out while it warms up casually checking for leaks, irregularities in sounds or vibrations and making sure to listen just incase the throttle tool moves around can sometimes lose idle or idle up, and monitor the temp guage. Run it until the fans have cycled and guage is at your typical operating temp. All of this stood be done after you have done the initial bleed he showed on the t-stat housing and with the coolant tank Cap OFF the system will not bubble over or blow out everywhere if the cap is off its only pressurized when hot and cap sealing the system! Once operating temp is met, with cap off, shut off the truck and listen or have someone monitor the tank for the bubbles of air coming out its like a burp nothing to be scared of looking closer to see it! Leave sitting for a solid minute, start the truck again, idle up and verify temp is still 🔥, then shut it off again! Let burp out of tank if it burps again some do some don't. Top it off and your done! NO MATTER WHAT you should always check the level after the first test drive period regardless. A car can burp and look good after 10 repeats but after a good drive or few trips it'll push whatever wouldn't come or prior then. Uncommon but it happens so always double check the work after a few good miles! Doing what I mentioned will bleed it better than any other way initially. And put it to the point that even if did burp 200 miles down the road it won't burp so bad it drops the level that drastically. Chances are you may not even really notice it change! Just always better save than sorry! Coolant is cheap! Headgaskets aren't! Lol
awesome video bud! been dealing with a cold truck for few months now ! In Michigan! it sucks but been doubting about how to and if it was that but video helped me out alot thanks!
I'm losing alot of coolant but not having the coolant system pressure up at all and no oil in coolant or coolant or fuel in with the oil.. any thing I should try before starting the head gaskets?
I had a sneaky coolant leak I could smell then found it, it was the ac coolant hose on the passenger side above the transmission dipstick, it’s known to break at the fitting it’s a cheap plastic I have a 07 lbz good luck
@@Carlos-hu3xb well he sure doesn’t apply, lol he poured straight concentrate in there and never added the water like he said he would. No mechanic would ever add distilled and concentrate separate. Although he tried, he oh so miserably failed. I think the only useful thing about this video is the fact that he showed some people where the bleed screw was 😅
I’m concerned what state your in that has the gas meter that far from the home lol My job deals with those in Mt. Thanks for this I’ll try re bleeding mine. Lly keeps getting low violent light after a few weeks and no sign of leaks. Not a head gasket thank god
Hey man would you be able to confidently recommend a 2014 Silverado to somebody based on your experience? I’m on the fence about which year I want to buy and looking for some insight on which year is best to buy used
2006-2007 duramax is considered the best via ALOT of people on the internet. With that being said the lml is a solid foundation also. Typical problems with the duramax persist from 2001-2014
Stick with Dexcool if you have it in your engine. Adding the green "universal" coolant will turn the coolant to sludge. Dexcool works great if you don't mix it with other coolants.
💯 % I think so too, those aftermarket air box /filters are junk. Every time I’ve found dirt went past the filter in to air intake. Garbage. Don’t be fooled by even higher brands, I just got another truck in the shop with banks air filter and it was poor fit around clamp and some dirt went in side 🫣
Awesome video but misleading. Concentrate and water won’t mix unless you mix it. Always premix outside the vehicle. And alway use distilled water because it’s nonconductive and erosive. If a temperature sensor arcs you run the Risk of killing your ECU.
If you’re going to make a video like this, make sure you got all your information right you just told everybody to put drinking water in the radiator that is wrong. You put distilled water in the radiator not any other type of water. The 50-50 diluted antifreeze is made with distilled water. There’s a reason for that.

Did you leave the coolant reservoir cap off when your ran the truck to burp the air out?
Thanks buddy this had had me checking and filling the tank after having installed new water pump thermostats and hoses.
What if you don’t have a bleeder screw like my 2013 6.6 Duramax that does not have a bleeder screw on the thermostat housing.
awesome video bud! been dealing with a cold truck for few months now ! In Michigan! it sucks but been doubting about how to and if it was that but video helped me out alot thanks!
FYI: Bleeder takes a 12mm socket, it is only an 8mm bolt.
After the procedure you did you say to rev to 3000 rpm or drive it for a bit is that with cap on or off for both rev and drive
Hi everyone. Is it normal that the large radiator hose is sucked and bent like the one on that truck?

My truck it's getting hot after I change the thermostats ? I lived in az
What about the air that is problably trapped in the heater core?
This is a bad video. Guy is not a mechanic.
@@anthonyrybczynski5420 you don’t needa be a mechanic to know how to do something 😂

Thank you very much for the information it was very good to learn that God bless you my friend.
How about if you possibly got a plugged heater core?

*coolant
Have you changed your radiator hoses yet
Great video bro
Thanks bro ur video was very helpful 🤙🤙🤙
Is the hose next to the cap connected to anything?
No
Always use distilled water with your antifreeze; tap water can have chemicals that can cause electrolysis and corrode aluminum.
did you open that coolant cap prior to when you filmed it?

2011 LML is a great Duramax motor, which is the same as the 2014. The only thing I dont like about it is the Def tank & DPT.
Dexcool should be flushed, system cleaned, and coolant replaced with an all systems diesel coolant.
Can anyone prove me wrong?
ONLY use distilled water…..
@3:49 I thought something messed up. Lol
I wanna change mine but I heard bad stuff about dex cool. Fill me in?
dex cool is oem for gm why would it be bad??? all I run in mine and no issues

Aluminum housing GM 15mm 31 ft pounds
And you can download your torque specs for the entire truck online 🔧
If you want to ruin your engine, use a K&N air filter. It will let all the dirt you need into your engine.
You are not wrong about that

It says in the manual for “clean drinkable water” make sure you read your manual
Or vacuum fill it and not worry about it 😂
@Tim Nissen obviously then DIY pretend "Mechanic" has spoken.

@Tim Nissen that's what all unemployed people say. 😂😂😂
Distilled water alway unless you live to far from civilization then use creek water.
And pour it through a coffee filter brother 💦
