Great video. I was up there today. It was a great walk but I underestimated how muddy and boggy it would be. But a fantastic walk anyway. Thanks for posting.
Cheers Alan, You had a no bad day for it mate looked perfect for a walk up there. Aye there is a bit of a boggy patch, Even in the summer it still lingers. Thanks for watching, peter :)
Cheers Kenny, Need to get out on the bike for a good while. Really felt at how unfit i was after this one. The hills are just to the north of Glasgow and you are right the views are stunning. Hope all is well mate, peter.
Great to have such stunners on your door step Peter and the views out towards Loch Lomond were very special mate. We've had a fair share of snow so far this winter and hopefully a bit more to come, another great outing pal :) Tim and Mandy
Yeah its great up there, Been many times over the years and i keep on finding new places that i had never seen before. Oh and the view over to Loch Lomond is excellent!! Thanks T&M, Take care. peter :)
Oh man, this is a gorgeous film. It looks like you had the place to yourself that day. I notice, dear sir, that you probably walk a good several miles before you even start your official trek, and you certainly don't dawdle. Now I'm not quite catching it--how old are those cairns or markers? What incredible country--both in beauty and history. Jules
Thanks Jules :) The cairns could be hundreds of years old. The markers/trig points are maybe from the 1930's i think. I prefer the cairns myself. Sometimes i does not take long to begin the ascent, But my longest to date was about 7 miles i would say. Great to hear from you again, peter.
What a glorious day! I've walked to Earl's Seat twice - had intermittent views and biting winds the first time, and low cloud the last time. Great to see the views I missed! Another glorious day is forecast for tomorrow and I'm off to Beinn Bhuidhe!
I was in work this morning wishing i had the day off, Couldnt get much better! Beinn Bhuidhe is the only Arrochar Alp Munro i havent bagged. Keep on putting it off so i have a reason to go back there(Havent been there in ages now sadly) Maybe this year......Maybe no ha ha!
You need a lot of daylight - or take a bike, because it has a very long walk in and out (1.5 hours each way). We set off at 8am and didn't get back till just before sunset at 4.15pm! (Lots of dawdling, filming and breaks to admire the views.)
Living close to the Campsies I enjoyed that film - and know the problems with parking around the Distillery. Couldn't believe it at the start when I saw the impatient driver crossing the double-whites to overtake the bin lorry, on a blind bend! Cars often belt along that road. By the way, on a really clear day you can see Ailsa Craig from Earl's Seat, more or less in line with the fence.
Aye its a busy wee road alright some people are in a hell of a hurry! I saw Ailsa Craig from there last summer on a mega clear blue sky day it was stunning the 360 view was perfect just wish i had a camera with me. Cheers ma man, peter .
First ones ever David my Dad drove me up them as a wee boy in 1981 and i thought i was in the Himalayas or something :) They are brilliant hills mate there are four tops to bag and each one is a great wee day out.
Ah, there he is again, and in his own backyard too! A lovely forested walk-in here Peter! Would love to have such a nice wee hill in my own backyard over here ... At 3:44 it would seem you filmed a little drama eh?
The drama was a lady who was gubbed only after 5 min walking LOL! She needed a wee pull up. You will see the big nice house in the forrest Wilco. I had a very interesting conversation with the owner, His knowledge was vast, And his family history could fill a book or two. Jacobites, Culloden and all the rest etc
Was finally up there today, been up Dumgoyne couple of times but not Earls seat. Picked a right slippy frosty/snowy day for it, was a slidey nightmare at times but the views where amazing once the mist lifted, I definitely underestimated it though, was a fare slog (slide lol). Good vid as per 👍🏻 Dan.
Cheers Dan! Aye you get great views from up there, Lomondside, Arrochar Alps etc Ive no been up Dumgoyne right enough. Think it would make a nice overnighter in my tent. Was it busy up there today?
MUNROSnCORBETTS Dumgoyne is nice enough, nothing too bad, there’s another UA-cam dude think his name is Andrew Park, he done an overnighter up there (was summer though) good vid that one. Aye Dumgoyne was busier than Earls, too many people sliding all over the shop and thinking better of it lol.
Perfect day George, Just wish we had a few more like them. Think i will stick to these kind of "Wee Hills" for a while, Need a bit of miles in the legs for next year. Hope you are well George and thanks for watching mate :) peter.
Way to go Peter. A fine effort son. Couldn't help but notice some land features up there like iron age settlements. Great catching up with you. Hope to get out a bit more my self before March next year. Just back from a 2 week break up north. All the best Peter nice one.
Hey big man how ye doing? Aye its great up on they hills, Only a few miles from the hoose. Hope you and Julie had a nice time away. Good to hear from ye again mate :) All the best, peter.
Nice change from just doing mountain's Peter. I've never visited earls seat campsie fells and if this in on your doorstep how lucky are you. The views from up there were amazing without having to climb a zillion metres up Thanks for sharing and at some point I'll have to visit that area Thanks for sharing ATB ALAN GREGORY
Thanks mate! North of Glasgow by a few miles and the stick out a mile, They are a stunning range. My Dad took me up there in his car about 1981 i think and i thought i was in the Himalayas or something lol! I go now and again to get the rust off the legs, And you are correct about the views :)) Thanks Alan, Take care mate.
MUNROSnCORBETTS I was up Meikle Bin very recently and there were only about 8-10 people there. It’s such a nice day today though Earl’s Seat will be mobbed.
Just watched this with sink...cant beat a summit..well done to you good effort mate..yes agree winter on the way..I must get and visit the campsies soon..atb :)
Hi Julie :) Aye its a fine place for a day out, Actually not far from The Whangie. Yes winters slowly coming :))) Cannae wait to be honest, Summer was rank rotten(again) LOL! Thanks for taking time to watch, peter.
Cheers ma man, It will indeed stretch the legs but i think it will be quite boggy up there at the moment. Maybe Meikle Bin at the other end of the Campsies would be the better option as the path is miles better.
MUNROSnCORBETTS ah, do you reckon? I was thinking a few days of snow and these temps, it'll be frozen up there?...? I'll have a gander at Meikle Bin. 👍🏽👍🏽
Only one way to find out :)) Aye it will be frozen up there all week, But there are some bits on that path that stay like a bog no matter what lol! Have a good one.
Never heard of Gary's Hut Liam just checked the whole Campsie/Kilsyth hills map and cant see no mention of it. Although lots of very small huts are not usually named or listed on maps and exist via word of mouth etc. The nearest official bothies are some distance away Rowchoish Bothy on the West Highland Way at Loch Lomond and Mark Cottage over at Loch Long. I will keep digging an let you know mate, peter.
You sounded Donald Ducked Peter lol. I've gave up on the weather if im out im out. Winter all year on the hills that'll do me.Hope next year better for you i hardly seen you on here. Thats one i could get done in winter i think. I should get some climbs done this winter , Billys back. Atb.
Donald Ducked is about right Eddie LOL! Keeping holidays back just for Munro bagging next year, Cant have another rotten year like this one. Glad to see you an Billy are heading out again, Always makes great viewing. Going to maybe stick to wee hills during the winter time maybe, Bloody weather here is a damn nuisance at times LOL! Cheers for watching Eddie, peter. PS After deciding to use single days here an there for the hills, Guess who goes and wins a holiday for New York in the works raffle!!! ha ha ha Couldnae make it up man! LOL!
Beautiful hike! Love how wide and open everything looks! Seems like you post a lot of outdoor videos which I love! I post very similar stuff if you're interested in checking it out!

Very secluded & stunning in those hills Peter, my kida place. That hike is a super fitness fix.
