      I've been using the Air for a couple of weeks now. I really like them but the driver numbers on the new 2024 Plus look to be 16 yards longer using the authors numbers. I received the Plus today and will try to compare side by side soon. I will let you know I find. I will do this a couple of times. Give me a week because I have a couple things I am playing in in the next few days so I won't change until afterwards.

    Great review Simon. I've been playing the Snell MTB Prime (not the Prime X ball) ball the last 2 seasons and super impressed. It's long, plenty spin and my distance control seems better with it (that may also be something to do with the bargain Honma Forged irons I picked up 18 months ago). I'd recommend giving the Snell balls a try 🙂

      I don't think brand matters that much, but compression certainly does. Every golfer will have a compression range that feels best to them. For me, I am most comfortable with 85ish compression. I try out a lot of balls that I find. High compression balls, like the Pro V1X, always feel too hard for my slower swing speed, while low compression balls, such as the Callaway SuperSoft feel mushy to me. Most any ball from a top manufacturer that is in the 85 range, though, will feel fine to me.

    This is a source of confusion: when they say “low spin golf ball”, are they talking about off the driver or around the greens? When they say, “high spin golf ball”, are they talking about with the driver or around the greens? Obviously, the optimum is low spin off the driver and high spin around the greens, but I can’t ever figure out what it is that the manufacturer is selling.

    I've played the Vice Pro. Good overall ball. Especially like the drip with blue and red. The issue for me and many here in USA is yellow has a following. Yellow ProV, TP5, AVX, Bridgestone, Srixon, even Mizuno RB max has optic yellow, Snell, etc. are used. Vice is hip with green but if they had a good color yellow they might gain sales. Until then, I won't budge on buying dozens.

    • @Drycleanerguy
      @Drycleanerguy 5 місяців тому

      Over the winter I used Vice Pro in red. It was sort of an orangish red, but they were very easy to see and find. My personal favorite is the multi-toned orange. They are easy to see and find, but have a radical look to them, as they are unlike any other ball on the market. I always get a lot of comments when I play the radioactive orange, as I call them.
      The green is fine, too. As for the paint splotches, they look great, however they are harder to find if you hit them into trouble. My go-to ball all summer, though is white.

    • @jonbuikema7399

      @@Drycleanerguy Thanks I have seen the Orangish color. It isn't bad. With multiple dozens still in my storage I'm years away from new balls being purchased. May never need to buy them. As a 3-4 HCP player I'm fortunate I lose very few balls. Play them, they get scruffed up some then they go into my shag tube. When they finally are beyond use or I replace those, they go into my shag bag for places we go that don't have a driving range. People I golf with also pick the ranges on local courses. They find me all the yellow I'd want also. Cheers to more golf!

    I have some Pro Plus Air coming. I have played the plus for 2 years now and like them, but my driver swing speed is 90mph which is why I am trying the Air. I don't lose balls very often. The Air has a 75 compression while the Plus is 100. My hope is to get more yardage without giving up control. I am very curious.

      @@sscully67 I tested them both side by side. I chipped around the green, 20-yard pitches, 50-yard shots, 100-yard shots, 150-yard shots and driver. I am getting a little more yardages with the driver but, all the other comparisons were close enough that I cannot tell the difference. That said, I am switching to the Air for the little bit of extra distance. The biggest difference is the feel. The Air is a softer feel and that is fine with me. I don't really have a preference for feel. I have played soft and firm. I hope this helps. I will be looking at Vice's new irons shortly. They have them at Club Champion. I am really curious. I play Srixon zx5's now and want to compare the two.
