I have tried all the tested balls, and i have been playing the Trufeel more than 2 years. The overall spin with the ball and driver height was the deciding factor, in my testing. Great test .
Thank you for making this video since I am currently trying out softer balls. I tried the wilson duo soft which was too soft for me. I will be trying the speedsoft and supersoft this weekend.
Excellent Luke, thanks for taking the time to do the testing. Of these, I've only played the previous version of the trufeel, and I like it a lot. Best 2 piece I've played. I bought 3 dozen so at my rate, I'll have them for a while. Quite durable as well. Great ball to putt with, decent spin when you want it, and long straight distance.
Hi Petro! Interestingly you’re the third person to comment about how much they enjoy putting with the TruFeel! That’s really interesting! It’s a tough, long, hot day in the studio comparing 4 balls side by side! I keep saying I won’t do it again but I’m sure I will! Haha! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
Great review. Confirmed for me Callaway supersoft distance and accuracy. Just changed to teitlist trufeel for the extra spin and control. Best video I’ve watched on soft feel ball testing. Big thank you!!🎉😅🇦🇺👏
Hi Neciaburford9574! Thanks for watching and for your comment and kind words on the video! I must admit the TruFeel is tempting as a winter ball for me! 👍🏼
Great video. I’m a lefty like you and noticed that the Truefeel had a tendency to draw the ball more than the others. Interesting 🧐 btw- The Maxfli Softfli is also a great budget ball
Hi Criscross292! Thanks for watching! I’ve heard so many great things about the Maxfli golf balls but we don’t get them in the UK so I’ve struggled to get my hands on them! I will try to get some ASAP as I need to see this for myself! All the best! 👍🏼
Hi Steve! The Kirkland is a great ball at its price point but actually performs closer to premium golf balls - due to the spin! I read in my research that the Callaway Supersoft was the number one selling golf ball in the USA in 2022 so it's certainly popular as I see A LOT at the courses I play too! I think that's why TaylorMade made the Speedsoft, to grab some of that marketshare! Hope you are good?
Hi Peter! There’s a lot of love for the Wilson Zip recently on my channel! It’s not a ball I see in the UK (not on Wilson’s website or in their 2024 catalogue and can only find it on Amazon in boxes of 2 dozen!) so not sure if it’s discontinued here and stock is selling though or if it’s just not easy to get hold off! What do you like about it? I’ll try to get my hands on some and review it at some point! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
@weekendtourpros my understanding it is the Duosoft is the replacement for the zip. The zip has good length off the tee and a good flight profile, that helps hold the green NOT the best spinning ball.
Great review! I have played the Taylor made offering. Many of my club members play SuperSoft a few play True Feel! I like the true feels numbers with wedges and 7i nice stopping power! Have you done DTC urethane shoot out for mid handies? Thanks Luke
Hi Richard! Thanks for watching and for your continued support! I definitely need to do more DTC balls - the ones I've filmed haven't done as well on the channel - I'm not sure why as many I've tried (e.g. Seed) offered great performance at a fantastic price point! Any balls in particular you'd want to see included?
Hi Adjman48! I play a more expensive ball with a urethane cover and more iron spin than these balls for exactly that same reason - especially as I’m a naturally low spin player! But like you, could easily see the TruFeel as a good winter ball! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
@adjman48 the plan is to play the Wilson Staff Model when it’s on 3 for 2. At the moment I can’t get hold of it on that offer so just using through my supply of Bridgestone Tour B RX which I forgot how much I loved so it’ll be one of those two depending on the Wilson price! 👍🏼
Hi Torbjørn! Yep not hugely different in my hands apart from maybe the TruFeel. I think that does tell me that all these manufacturers know what makes a good ball at this price point (and why TaylorMade released Speedsoft to take some marketshare!) and probably why we are seeing things like difference colours, patterns to try and show they are different and unique vs huge differences in performance! 👍🏼
@@weekendtourpros Seems like every brand knows how to make good quality golf balls. I am guessing it will not be much developments in golf balls in a while, with the roll back coming soon etc.
Good comparison, i really rate the trufeel but not for anything in the video, on the green it just feels great and i hole more putts with it than any other and so tempted to drop back from my q star tour to the trufeel to see if it lowers my overall score
Hi Sullyatt! Well that's another glowing reference for the TruFeel then! I must admit I do love the Q Star Tour and think that might be my favourite in the £30-35 range but the TruFeel did impress me a lot! Thanks for watching!
That was a 4 for 3 deal which is nearly always on. Forgot to say I’m surprised yr mid hcp as yr swing looks v good and consistent I thought you’d be single figure, Steve
@sullyatt that’s one of the great things about Srixon! Loads of 4 for 3 offers! I think like a lot of golfers, it’s a bit easier in a simulator or on the range - especially when I can edit out the odd really poor swing! If you’ve watched my course vlogs you’ll see (ignoring the pressure of playing on camera!) that I just have 2-3 blow up holes a round! Currently off 11.5! Thanks for your support!
You mentioned Trackman's unrealistic roll-out numbers. Obviously it doesn't know how receptive the green / fairway is and has to just use some sort of average. But similarly Trackman doesn't know anything about aerodynamics either. So it's guessing about peak height, carry distance and landing angle as well! Despite all this, good useful review here. Personally I use Callaway Supersoft or Srixon Ultisoft, two balls which seem very similar.
Hi Martin! Thank you for watching and for your comment! Regarding your points on TrackMan, when it can observe the full ball flight (e.g. on a driving range) TrackMan does accurately measure it up to 400. When we are in a studio you are absolutely right, it takes the ball flight it can measure and uses an algorithm to extrapolate that out. As someone who uses a TrackMan in both settings regularly I am confident that TrackMan is just as accurate indoors as my numbers are almost identical subject to how I’m swinging it on the day! On the point about roll out, what I was trying to say is that the virtual driving range on TM is defaulted to play firm and fast… when I’m using a TM on the driving range hitting shots, the roll out never matches the TrackMan roll out number as we don’t get those types of conditions in the UK bar 2-4 weeks a year when everything is burnt out! All the fitters and industry experts I speak to tell me this is a known “thing”! Also worth remembering we are losing c.1000rpm spin from the mat vs grass which also adds rollout… Hopefully you’ll come back to the channel again! All the best! 👍🏼
@@weekendtourpros Thanks for your detailed reply! From time to time, ball manufacturers extol the virtues of their latest dimple pattern to improve flight, carry or dispersion. If Trackman can assess these correctly in an indoor studio, that must mean aerodynamic differences between balls must be negligible and therefore manufacturers are full of bs in this respect?
I think there’s some truth in it but I’m testing trackman in ‘normalised’ mode always so my videos are closed data (same temp, excludes wind etc.) so they are as consistent as they can be… I definitely think if we were testing outside with TM not normalising you’d probably see some minor differences due to aerodynamics which TM would pick up but I suspect you’d need an elite golfer or robot swinging it to spot the difference. You do hear anecdotal evidence that things like TP5 performs better in the wind than its rivals but I’m not sure if the robot testing exists? 🤷♂️
Need to include the Wilson zip in any conversation about soft feeling balls. I know they are not from a major manufacturer but they are insanely good, especially for £28 for two dozen. I know you have caveated.why you didn't at the start but it would have been great to see the zip up against it's competition and watch it beat them!😂
Hi Jim! A few people have mentioned the Wilson Zip this year… it’s not in Wilson’s 2024 catalogue or on their website, so is it still being made or discontinued with stock being sold through?!? If I can find a sleeve I’ll give them a review just reluctant to buy 2 dozen on Amazon! Haha! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
@@weekendtourpros discontinued unfortunately which is a shame as I only started playing it last winter. Going to have to find an alternative once I have run out. Trufeel is £20 per dozen at my club. I have played it a bit and quite liked it to be fair. Currently playing the triad and Wilson staff models and the zip from October to April.
Here's an idea for the channel. Review the Slazenger balls from Sports Direct. There are no proper reviews I can see on UA-cam with the launch monitor data that you provide. It would be an interesting test I think.
@jimwocha4949 Jim - I love it! Let’s get the cheapest golf ball I can find and see just how bad (or good!) it really is! Added to the list and could be a fun one!
@@weekendtourpros cool, look forward to that. It will be interesting to see performance Vs a premium ball. I doubt that for the average golfer there will be much difference.
wrong, low spin= more slice, the more back spin the least amount of curve right or left, thats why you dont slice your wedges, there high loft(high back spin) but if you can hit it straight its more distance. lol
I know you said soft, but you also said budget. How about a 4 piece, urethane cover at walmart for $19.99?? High launch, low spin on drivers and irons meaning straighter, stops better than a pro v1. CUT BLUE
Hi gcoffey223! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! As you touched on, the purpose of the video was to pick the four best selling golf ball brands and their budget soft golf balls - like you I know there’s lots of other great options including DTC and other options like Kirkland. We don’t have Cut golf balls in the UK so they are an expensive import for me to test sadly but they sound from my quick research this morning like a great option to rival Pro V1 type performance at a great price and sounds like you’re enjoying them too! Brilliant! All the best! 👍🏼
@weekendtourpros Daamn! No cut blue in UK. That is a shame. IF you ever get your hands on some cut blues, you will quickly see the attraction. Best to ya. Keep up the good work and hit em straight (ish)😂😂😂
@Transhumanist_Adam Not the new ones. Sure, they might get marked up, but I have yet to see any drop off in performance. Seriously, give the new ones a try. The usually I get about 2 full rounds with 1 ball before I lose it. Haven't gotten one ball to survive 3 rounds, but at $1.75 a ball who cares.
Hi Yeboah! Thanks for watching? For clarity the purpose of the video was to help golfers who prioritise price and are looking at or already playing one of these four popular soft golf balls and might be wondering if the other options could be better for them or not! As a mid handicap golfer (I play off 11.5 currently) I choose to play a more expensive golf ball with a urethane cover but there’s definitely pros and cons to that! Many of my friends off similar handicaps and slightly higher use balls like these because price is important to them! 👍🏼
