The actual seats in this case are, in fact, jump seats rather than being true rumble seats. The bottoms of rumble seats are fixed with padded seat backs attached to the lid where the spare tire is here.
@@LarcRIf you look up the definition of both, they’re interchangeable, different vehicles used different terminology, but they served the same purposes. Some of the old cars had split bottom benches, some were solid depending on the manufacturer.
Fun fact: rumble seats are called "Schwiegermuttersitz" in german which would translate to something like "mother in law seat". Since that's where you would have your mother in law to be seated when driving down the road
I saw one of these lovely old cars outside my local pub recently. Here in Australia that rear seat is refered to as a "Dicky seat". The Triumph 1800 was produced from 1946 to 1949.
If anybody knows anything about car washing it's these two guys. They have managed to be ranked as NR. 1. on my car washers rating list 2024 . Keep up the good work guys.
I respect your opinion, these two have come a long way, but you should see AMMO. The guys name is Larry and in my opinion is one of the best in the industry.
this is not just a part of history. But how automotive history began, continued and evolved!! HELL YES!! I love seeing ALL unique and unusual cars from any generation!!
One little tip for wooden surfaces that have scratches: get some walnuts and crush with your fingers into the scratches. The oil from the walnuts is a brown colour and helps to disguise the marks.
I was lucky enough to buy one of these in 1966 when it was just another old car, before ‘classics’ were thought of. I paid £90 sterling for it and kept it for seven years. I got another one to do up in 2015 on a nostalgia trip. Great old cars if you have the patience for their little foibles!
Hi guys, greetings from the UK! You certainly did a fantastic job on this car. Like most British cars from this era the windscreen (sorry, windshield!) was hinged at the top so it could be screwed out in good weather (you can see the knob for doing that to the left of the speedometer) but first you had to "park" the wipers below the windscreen (sorry, windshield) hence the knobs for doing that. I see from the other comments that the rear seats are rumble seats but here in England the were known as "dickie" seats. Keep up the good work guys.
You are cleaning a triumph Roadster with a dicky seat. It’s a 2 litre engine. That one looks in fantastic condition There was a well known tv series called Bergerac and it featured a maroon triumph roadster. They are very collectible
The 1948 Triumph was a 1800 engine. I had a 1949 which had the 2 liter engine. They were built after the war using the left over ash framing from the fighter planes. Body work is Aluminum except for the front wings which are steel. The chassis is 2 large steel tubes. The floors are made from wood. Yes it has 2 Dickey seats in the boot (trunk) which folder down so you can store luggage in it. They are a bugger to drive when you get up to 50-60mph the front end drifts all over the place. Good luck getting it running great fun car
You guys really out did yourselves on this one, what a treat for us! As much as I love manual controls on cars I think I draw the line at manually operated windshield wipers… But what a beauty of a car, and such a great job on the detail. In the beginning of the video I thought maybe you had found a new Frank but too bad the little mouse didn’t make it.
These are extremely elegant classic cars. Typical of British automakers in that era. So glad they’re putting them up for sale so they can be seen and admired.
Amazing , I'm viewing this from where the Triumph 1800 Roadster was newly registered in Cambridge , U.K in very late 1948 , VE indicates the registering county of Cambridge - incredible !.
You are cleaning a triumph Roadster with a dicky seat. It’s a 2 litre engine. You guys are great at polishing and cleaning cars! I've been following you guys for a while, and think what you do is super! Keep up the good work! It's too bad I live in the Netherlands, otherwise I would have gladly brought my car to you for a big polish! If I could start a business it would be something with computers, or ICT
When you look at the styling on this car it's pretty amazing considering what 1948 in the UK was like. They were still under severe rationing from WW2 and their economy was close to recovering yet. They had to ration all the way till 1955! But....really cool car. My buddy in HS had a 1974 Triumph Spitfire as his first car. We spent a lot of time working on that thing because it was a 70s UK car.
If I had the extra money I would buy this car, a very cool car indeed! Maybe not so practical to drive in todays traffic, brakes, steering ect. but for the occasional joy ride beyond cool and sitting there in your shop the best automotive eye candy you could find!
Beautiful car. Your detailing is always on point with amazing results. Always look forward to every Saturday for a new episode. Keep up the great work guys.
We found one broken down outside our house in London. It looked very smart and clean but had sticky needle valve in the float chamber of the carburettor. A quick spannering got the driver and his passengers on their way!
I have one of those globe Triumph badges. They were a reference to an earlier logo the brand used in the early 30s. Very cool to see one on the channel!!
That paint came up great! Can’t beat Autosol on old chrome. Looks like it still has a UK plate on it. Reminds me of the Morgan’s they still make just up the road in Malvern from here.
This Triumph and the Rolls Royce you saw are for sale! Email chaseissellingcars@gmail.com with serious inquiries only!
👏👏
Stunning work as always wow.
Hopefully they'll let you do the Rolls....nice work, guys!!
It's British....
My next door neighbor is older than that car by 10 years😂
“RUMBLE SEAT” 😊
Something only us old folks would know 😮
They don't read or watch old movies
In the UK they were known as "dickey" seats.
I LOVE cars with this style!!!! Cars from the 30's and 40's were amazing!!!
They have so much character, and style
Yes they do
Fun fact: rumble seats are called "Schwiegermuttersitz" in german which would translate to something like "mother in law seat". Since that's where you would have your mother in law to be seated when driving down the road
😂😂😂😂
And I thought that's what hearses were made for.
Huh, that's pretty interesting. In hungarian, the seat next to the driver is the one called "mother in law seat". (anyósülés)
@@nsmnk3922 i think i prefer the other MIL seat…
Being from the UK I love this, take this to a car show in the States and everyone will want to know what this classic gem is❤
I love it when you do these old cars. You get a real chance to see what early innovation and design was like back then. Great job guys.
And don’t forget quality !😳
Oh If you love cars how can you not love the lines of that car. It's truly a work of art 😀👍
I don't know if anybody comments on this, but I really appreciate the music choices matching the vibe of the cars
same!!
The fact that this car isn’t rusty has got to make it valuable. I’m sure Wayne Carini appreciates this car.
I saw one of these lovely old cars outside my local pub recently.

The Triumph 1800 was produced from 1946 to 1949.
Love these old cars. I was born in 1947 so there were so many beautiful cars of this vintage. From UK😊🇬🇧
This one turned out to be one of the most beautiful finished cars i've ever seen in WD...thanks for sharing!
If anybody knows anything about car washing it's these two guys. They have managed to be ranked as NR. 1. on my car washers rating list 2024 . Keep up the good work guys.
WHO COMES IN AT #2 AND #3 MR. KNOW IT ALL!!!😂😂😂😂😂
I respect your opinion, these two have come a long way, but you should see AMMO. The guys name is Larry and in my opinion is one of the best in the industry.
Thank you so much!
Designed with style in mind nothing like the bland cars we see today.
That finish on the paint looked awesome 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Beautiful Triumph 1800 Roadster. Great job guys. In the U.K. the rear seats in the boot are called dicky seats!
Being built in England , it is not called the german name , its a Dicky Seat , very British
Watching from the Uk, we call the rear seat a Dickie or Rumble seat.
Lovely cars the Triumph 1800/2000 Roadster.

Love that Big Band sound. Car is sweet (now) too.
I’m an absolute nerd and LOVE cars of this era and if you guys can find more cars from then I think It would be absolutely amazing!🤩

Nice to see an antique in such great shape. Loved the rumble seat with the flip up windshield.
OMG I love this little guy! I wish we could have heard it run. Great job guys!
Cars before the fifties have a beauty and grace that our modern boxes on wheels don't have.
Love British cars, have one myself 53 morris minor, I would definitely drive that triumph 👍🇦🇺

Love to see the old classics shining.. Simple, beautiful design amazing style.
That shine at the end was PHENOMINAL!! Well done, very cool car even if it is a bit slow. Very nice work, guys!
I'm a 75 year old female.
My dream car has always been a Bugatti. So beautiful! Great job guys!
Britain at it's best. They just don't make cars like that anymore, just look at how it's stood the test of time. Awesome job guys 🎉
Don't let the low views deter you from reviving old cars like that. Totally worth it and it came out fantastic! I hope the Rolls is next :)

Brent, I am a car guy and i like all eras but 20s-50s had some of the best styling by far...cheers to you all. Looking forward to next week.
It certainly did!
That is actually my favourite style of cars. It's one of the reasons why I bought a 2cv.
That Triumph is very cool car👏
These are extremely elegant classic cars. Typical of British automakers in that era. So glad they’re putting them up for sale so they can be seen and admired.
Definitely a touring car and not a speed demon. Beautiful car!!! Best I've seen on your channel aside from the 3 vets with no miles.
What a great cleaning and detail work on This car. It is a beautiful car.
There's a reason cars from that era are called "classics." Such beautiful styling!
I love cars from the past. ❤❤❤❤ Makes my heart jump.

The Cotton Club sounds make everything perfect
I dont know about you guys, but that is a mirror shine.
❤
It is impressive to see the great condition a car of this age is in. Good job on the detailing.
What a privilege to be able to work on this old beast! Great video
Love seeing these older vehicles get revived
Good choice of b/g music. Very rare sports car which could allow four people to ride in style!
Yes, I love the old cars as they have a beautiful design. Wish I owned one.
My uncle had a white one. I was born in 1939. I remember my sister and I rode in the rumble seat around 7 or 8 years old. So cool
I have had the pleasure of riding in the rumble seat and let me tell you, it is most incredible ride you will never forget. WOW !!!!
I want to try it!
What a beautiful antique!! Wow. So clean! Probably worth some serious cash when running.
I love how you worked in music that fits the era of the car like you did the 35 Chrysler video ❤❤❤
OMG that car looks so damn good. Just wish you guys could have gotten it started. You guys simply amaze me every time.

AWESOME JOB!!! Love the classic finds and cleaning.
We found one broken down outside our house in London. It looked very smart and clean but had sticky needle valve in the float chamber of the carburettor. A quick spannering got the driver and his passengers on their way!
