Just one of the coolest car shapes ever, I still have never had a 900 turbo, got to scratch that itch soon!

When you started to clean it I thought 'well it's not too bad' Then opening the doors I could see bits falling off so it is likely the underside is rotten. On the plus side the interior is in good condition and despite the headlining sagging it may be savable. It will be interesting to see if the engine is free and if it runs that will be a bonus. Edward does well and earns his keep getting rid of the cobwebs for Claire and he doesn't argue! Thanks for the post Elton and Claire. 👍👍

Thanks for saving this one, even if only as a parts car. It may be saveable but would require a total stripdown to establish the facts. Regardless, I imagine a saab owner would love this as a source of spares. Thanks for posting.

We hope so, but the last few barn find Saabs we've taken to auction have flopped spectacularly.

  • @The_Cotswold_Engineer

Surprisingly solid considering where it was sat, other leaser brands would be so much rustier! Plus you wouldn't be able to open the doors on them without them falling off (Escort springs to mind). Any that interior looks mint!

Another great video. I do love a Saab 900. This one is more than a little crusty. Well done both of you for the clean.
I’m glad Claire got a new cassette for her collection 😀

A friend at school's Father was a Saab fan. He usually changed every four years. Not that there was much difference back then, but he was friendly with his local dealer so each year, they'd "upgrade" his 900 to whatever the latest tweak was!

Worked with Saab in the eighties great looking cars timeless styling and yes I ended up buying and selling these for many years
The wheels aren't minlites they are Saab accessories back in the day and like the roof visor dealer added

It cleaned up quite well, the interior does look nice, even with all the rot around the edges it could be quite bad underneath, I'm sure it'll be a good parts car

Try using Stardrops from home bargain, a good squirt in warm water, takes dirt and moss of and only £1 a bottle, takes everything off for a mild soap solution.😊

Had one of those except mine was blue. Worth restoring imo ofc like any restoration it will cost more than its worth however they are fabulous cars. One of the only non British cars I love. Far far far better than any merc or bm they all need scraping. People with taste bought Saab. Those who bought mercs and and bms were and still are ripped off by horrifically badly built shit boxes.

I had a 1966 Saab 96 2 stroke aprox 48hp with a freewheeling feature downhill, you pulled a lever to freewheel downhill (and got out to push uphill lol) had you considered contactind jennychem for a sponsorship?

    • @UKBarnFinds
      @UKBarnFinds  8 годин тому +1

That actually sounds like fun! No, we haven't spoken to anyone about sponsorship. Currently, we like being free agents, but you never know.

When I was young I had a boss who had a Saab - I couldn’t understand his obsession. 35 years later, on my third Saab I get it !!!
And do check underneath - they were built like tanks. My 2006 93 vert has just had a clean bill of health on its MoT with the ex-Saab mechanic commenting on those solid parts.

  • @jb3222

What a shame to see a handsome car like that reach the end of the road - but I wouldn't want to be the one crawling underneath with a tub of Plastic Padding and some chicken wire. It's amazing how gripping these car washing videos can be, and yet no passers-by pause to watch me rinsing the wife's grubby Corsa.
