Russ, thanks for featuring Ocean Shores in your video of 4 years ago. I hope you have visited my community since then. * It is always lovely for visitors to post their videos of trips to our beach town.. Perhaps the following info will help your viewers to understand a bit more about my family's very peasant community. Personally, I believe it is always a great advantage to view a video with accurate information aimed at helping others to plan a well-informed trip. * Ocean Shores is located on a "PENINSULA" at the very bottom of the Olympic Peninsula. We are not located on an island. The west side of our peninsula meets the Pacific Ocean, where Fall and Winter waves roar ashore, but summer waves greet us quietly and lazily spread as they reach shore. Driving is permitted on our ocean beaches, with seasonal exceptions posted as needed for such things as the protection of "baby razor clams". **The Eastern shore of our community looks out over Grays Harbor. A closer inspection of the Harbor is gained by walking along Damon Point; where local seals and Orcas can be spotted in the deeper reaches of the bay. **We have many lovely areas for folks who enjoy walking; including our Weatherwax nature preserve area inland only a mile or so. This protected rainforest is literary just a few steps from the Elks Club (mentioned in you video's title). Sorry you missed it. ****Visitors can enjoy miles and miles of beaches from the tip of our peninsula northward. Our community offers a lovely golf course, TWO outdoor and indoor FAMILY FUN centers, a multi-screen cinema plus a bowling Center AND MILES of beautiful freshwater canals for boating, sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Beautiful electric boats are available to rent and folks can then choose their own pace to tour our interior lakes and miles of quiet tree shaded canals; where wildlife is frequently seen from mere feet away. We have a large Blacktail Deer population and spring offers an abundance of fawn sightings. Our streets are posted with reminders for vehicles to "slow down". Lots of wonderful photo-ops in our area. *****Our restaurants are many and offer a wide variety of foods from around the globe. ## I suggest that visitors stop to pick up one of our community's FREE maps/guides OR spend a few minutes chatting with the helpful folks at our OS Visitor Info Ctr. (In our huge Convention Center building in the heart of town). This may help folks to view and enjoy ALL of what our community works so very hard to offer visitors. Ocean Shores is SO MUCH MORE than simply just a big collection of motels; we really are a welcoming community that has built a very friendly and diverse premier RESORT for everyone's enjoyment.
Hey hey Russ and Scoobie 🐕 🐾, welcome to Ocean Shores, my neck of the woods, right where I grew up!!! Several times during the years, my family would come down here for a few days, sometimes we came for the Razor Clam digs during minus low tides. My parents have a time share down here and so does my husband and I as well. I'am so thrilled that you and Scoobie came down, what a very special treat!!! I hope that you guys enjoyed yourselves!!! Did you get to see any deers?? I sure hope so because they are extremely gorgeous and so exciting to see!!!! Thank you for visiting my neck of the woods, I hope that you enjoyed yourselves!!! Take care my friend, be safe!!! 😄😉😊😆
OMG!!!! I want to ride a horse on the beach too!!!! 🌊 🐎 That is going to be on my "bucket list" now. It is just gorgeous there in Ocean Shores. I love the sound of the ocean waves. Wonderful video Russ. I wish I was there to enjoy it with you.
The beaches are part of the state's highway system unbelievably. You can park out there all day, but they don't want you to spend the night. We went on July 4th and there was a huge crowd on the beach having firework displays and bonfires. Better to go when all the folks are home and the waves are not as dramatic. We let the dogs play in the surf they love it.
Hi Russ! I really enjoyed seeing Ocean Shores! The beach was very cool and seeing the horses was a nice surprise! You and Scoobs are having a great time! Thanks for sharing!
There is so many hotels because most of the open ocean (vs. puget sound) in washington is Indian Reservation or National Park, so Ocean Shores and Longview are the two most visited spots that are privately owned. Although it is not an island just a spi. About three miles north of town there is a beautiful state park campground for those who like to tent camp especially it has direct access to the beach. Further north there is Pacific Beach and Moclips but both had far less developable land so they never became big destinations. Fourth of July at Ocean Shores is insane!
Did you see any fishing boats out on the water there Russ? They bob around like tops in that rough water loll. You can also dig clams there in season but its usually so cold and windy you have to be a hardy soul loll. But that's Wa big rough country and water! Thank-you for touring my beautiful home state!
If you go south to Long Beach, you can drive on the beach there too! Just be careful you don't get stuck with the tide coming in! If you do, call George Hill's Towing. He's a fellow UA-camr and posts his tows on UA-cam!
You passed my house by about a half a mile. Property wasn’t very expensive when you made this video but it has doubled since then. I downsized five years ago to a two bedroom house, $155,000. It’s now worth about $330,000.
Stick around till after Labor Day when the kids go back to school and it will be empty. Sunny and in the low 90's for Seattle the next 3 days, so hopefully you're still in the area. When there's an off shore flow it can get very hot on the Coast 80's-90's aren't unusual. All those hotels/motels/camping will be packed and you will think you're in S. Calif!.....:) BTW, Ocean Shores isn't an Island unless it's slid into the Pacific the last 2 years I've been on the road......:)
Years ago I was traveling along the Oregon coast and went thru a little town that I was told was the best place to be during the storm season in the winter. They said all places to stay were sold out during that time. People love being right there up front when a storm would come in. Forgot what town that was. I think it was somewhere along the middle of the Oregon coast.
How about when he was camped on the Columbia River way below Portland and he said the ships were going down the river to Portland. He Arv, the river flows from the mountains down to the sea. LOL That's what makes him human, Love his channel, he does a great job.
Many RV and camping sites in and around our town.. Are easily found online. Suggest you will probably need a reservation in summer. Look at distances from town sites, etc. to your favorite activities. Walking here is common. I suggesl you contact our community visitors info Center in the Ocean Shores Convention Center. They offer tons of help. We have one small grocery store, so if you wish for a larger variety of goods...consider your family's usual needs and plan ahead. You will pass through larger towns...with bigger stores east of OS.
It is not an island! Sheesh people, please do your research before you make a video. Doing so makes you more creditable and that makes people subscribe.
Well, I did have to laugh at that. I lived in OS for 14 years. FAR from an island ... but it sure does look familiar. I WAS still living there when this was filmed. Yep, summer in Ocean Shores - "tourist city" :D
yeah I figured that. I'm curious about the area and very few videos. Maybe to buy a home up there. What i learned in studying the area for 3 years now it they allow dogs, horse and vehicles on that beach. cannot be a good thing.....Radiator fluid or engine oil cant be good for that sand. really surprized it's allowed.....
@@colleenmcdermott5492 - You should see cars sink in that sand, it's quite a disturbing sight!!! One time there were 2 guys (both looked like they were in their early 20's), they parked their car (a cherry 1967 Mercury Cougar), on the beach and went exploring, when they came back, the driver went bonkers, his car had sunk and it went fast, there was nothing that he could do, he lost his car to the sand and ocean, it really was sad!!
@@colleenmcdermott5492 - I don't know! And when it's Razor Clam Digging season, these beaches are jam packed, almost looks like sardines in a can, even RV'S!! Up at Roosevelt Beach, an elderly couple lost their motorhome that also doubled as their livlihood, due to the ocean tide coming in after digging clams. They even had a couple tow trucks trying to help get the motorhome out, but, NO LUCK!! It was a TOTAL LOSS!!

Drugs ruined this area. I grew up here. Heroin, meth and marijuana ran rampant. It's a disgusting county.
