Ola and Samus are basically each other's metal counterparts on yt so this is a crossover that has to happen at some point
My brain could never figure out how to do more than two things at once when drumming, drummers are definitely a special breed.
Guitar players do multiple things at the same time as well. It can be learned like anything else in life. If you aren't able to learn it quick that doesn't mean that you can't learn it. It's all about the connections that your brain makes. Some make connections faster than others but we can all make the connections and that's what's important. Drummers are not a special breed either. They're humans who keep practicing to make the connections.
I know what you mean. You feel great until you realize your feet and hands are hitting at the same time. I also can’t play guitar well after 8 years so there is that.
I just got the TD-27KV! Playing drums is the most fun, I'm terrible but it doesn't matter. Good to see you're having fun with it!

Started as a drummer when i was 13. Decided to pick up a guitar at 30 and get into. It's a lot of fun to write your own riffs , and jam along with yourself. My drumming experience i feel defiantly progressed learning the guitar.
Totally supporting this, Ola. Life's all about making dreams and wishes come true. I'm a begginer guitar player, don't know much about music theory and technical terminology but already owns 2 guitars and 2 amps. As long as it brings a smile on your face - do it.
This is a great decision Ola!! Personally I think learning drums made me a better guitar player and I stand by that
Anyone considering playing any new instrument should always do it if it's feasible, I say. Learning a new instrument can't be beat. It will improve your musical skill on EVERY instrument in nuanced, subtle ways. And it's just fun.
I started with alto saxophone, then went to guitar, and now bass. I also use programming to emulate percussion because I could never facilitate a drum kit or make noise where I live.
You know the old saying "If it's not fun it's done" very cool!!!
I'm a lifelong drummer, didnt have the space for drums and fell on hard time and I was forced to sell them,, so I turned into a guitar player, go for it you'll have no problem ,you have fantastic rhythm

I’ve been drumming now for about 8 years and I tell everyone that once you get the hang of using all four limbs and can master that, playing the drums becomes easy. Now it’s just learning different patterns and timing. Get creative, learn rudiments and try to apply them on other things than just the snare. Explore with different techniques and you’ll find that the drums have really no limit to what sounds you can produce. Drumeo on UA-cam is a great place to get started and learn as well as watching workshops of what other drummers are doing so you can add it to your toolbox

Same boat, but I'm almost 50 and started last year. Its a great workout, muscles that I didn't know I had ache. I've played guitar my whole life, but always had a thing for drums. I'm having more fun with drums now because there's no ego involved.
That ending though.. Look forward to some drum stuff. Ola learns Pantera drums!?
Hell yeah! I also recently started my drumming journey. It's been somehting I've wanted to do forever and finally at 36 years old I decided the time is now. I'm only about 2 months in now but I'm having an absolute blast! Enjoy and looking forward to drumming content!

Had the same idea for the same reasons a few months ago, sharing a Millenium Kit with my Gf now. It IS good exercise, it gives you more appreciation for professional drummers skills, because it is very hard at first and hopefully let's me write better programmed drums as well, or at least be reasonable with them.

Omg I never thought I would see this day come.
I will be 40 next July and I picked up guitar and bass a little after the pandemic hit. I am a metal vocalist and drummer since I was 13 but I never understood guitar. I picked up Rocksmith and it has been a fantastic year or so since then, because of it. I can now write songs all by myself, and play each instrument. Just need to get some rudimentary keyboard skills for some cool ambient or melodic stuff. I can now see music from so many different angles that I had a basic understanding of but didn't really know why I knew what I knew. I can actually understand things from a more Musical and note oriented standpoint now and it's so awesome. Congrats and best of luck on your new endeavor!
I’m a pinch older and did the same thing last year. I can’t believe how much I learned about music and playing guitar and bass. Insane. Changed everything for my creative process. 👊🤘

Hell Yea Ola, I decided the same thing and bought me an Alesis drum set about a month ago. Much different than guitar but a hell of alot of fun.

Ola I just bought my second edrum kit. I love it and I'm a guitar player by trade. As long as you have been in music much like me you already know how to drum it's just getting the coordination of your limbs because you need all 4 at one time instead of just your arms. You got this brotha! GETCHA PULL!

Thats a nice kit. As a bass player, I spend a lot of time on drums trying to get parts to my liking. Have fun man, that is the main point of drums.

That Mapex hihat stand is honestly the best stand I’ve used to date. I’m proud of you for learning drums. Will be cool to follow your journey. Also, don’t worry about the placement too much for now. You’ll find a way to set up your kit that is comfortable in the long run.

Ola! I am beyond excited to see you are playing drums!!! You got yourself a amazing kit. Roland is hands down the king of electronic drums. Really it's the work they put into the module.
And being a drummer of 25 years now, I was happy too see a Iron Cobra double pedal in your arsenal. My favorite pedal.
I am sure you have plenty of friends to give you advice and lessons. And I have been quiet for some time. But I am here to help and wanted to get back into the conversation here on the channel.

Yasss! Welcome to the drumming community!
Drummer here. I like to overlap one of the legs on the hi hat stand over the left kick drum pedal so the high hat pedal is right next to the left kick pedal. It also allows the hi hat to be a little closer to you so you dont have to reach as far to hit it. Recently i bought a two legged hi hat stand so that leg doesnt get in the way of the left kick pedal at all and i love it.
With that said, good luck entering the world of drumming. I was originally a guitarist but once i learned a few songs on drums i was totally hooked. I still play other instruments but my main love is drums.

Honestly, this is going to be fun to watch. I am in the same boat as a guitar player with electric Roland kit. Might inspire me to pick up some things to stay fit etc
Placement is about comfort with e-kits. I have an acoustic kit that I mic during band practice sometimes, and it's a whole different animal. You will find drumming to be fun and fullfilling if you set reasonable goals and practice regularly. Good luck from another guitarist who kinda plays drums.
I did exactly this in April this year and I am having an absolute blast (geddit?) learning. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and as much as I love it, that time spent gives me expectations of myself that make it stressful sometimes. I'm a total newbie drummer and it is so much fun to have none of those expectations sitting behind me when I jam with friends or learn a new song. Have fun dude!

Yay! Living the dream! I was just a day or two away from (after MANY years of hesitation) actually buying a Roland kit back in 2018, but then I suddenly got hit with a nasty leg infection and all plans went out the window - and I still haven't bought any drums... If I'm honest I don't really have enough space, but I'll probably never be able to get the thought completely out of my mind. Maybe I'll just have to wait until I buy myself a proper 26 room mansion.

You can actually slide the left beater over closer to the right one by loosening the screw that holds the mechanism on there

I got a drum pad and a couple sticks to practice rudiments before getting a kit, and I’m glad that’s all I did or my kit would just be sitting there after my drum mania phase wore off lol if another phase comes up I always have a pad to beat on until it disappears

I probably waited too long to say this but I hope you get to see it but the hi-hat feet will sometimes I just to be able to fit the double pedal in are you might have to get an adjustable hi-hat if their feet will adjust left to right and tried to play along to older music 60s 70s early 80s the drums are louder for some reason
there is probably a thumbscrew that you can loosen at the bottom of the hi hat stand, where the legs meet, so you can turn the feet of the hi hat stand to better fit your second bass pedal. depends on the hat stand model.
I think you should give Dream Theaters Dance of Eternity a try. It´s a classic beginner song for drummers.

You'd be surprised how good you can get just from being around great drummers and knowing how to program. Growing pains for sure but drums are so fun. Have a blast.🤘
