Okay, I don't know for sure... but the "discovery and search tool" improvements could have something to do with build buy. I use debug a lot when building (especially for landscaping) but I don't have any mods. So I'm just scrolling through trying to find stuff old school. And I've noticed in the last few months that they seem to be reorganizing debug. They have named a few items that didn't use to have names, they have put select items into actual build categories, they have given a lot of items descriptions, and a lot of items are now grouped together (for example a good chunk of the debug cars now appear together, instead of being spread out through the list). So maybe they are trying to make build buy and even debug more search friendly?
I'm a bit disappointed that you now do promotions for sims 4. Even though it's at a huge discount, it gives you incentive to promote the sims 4 because you get commissions from sales made through that link. I don't mean this personally, I don't know you and you don't owe me. I'm disappointed in losing trust in the reviews of the sims 4 you provide which I always considered trustworthy because you denied working together with EA. Just wanted to share that

Now this is a bummer, EA took the trouble to take the worst installment of the saga and said "LET'S MAKE IT ETERNAL" instead of doing that with The Sims 3 or directly making the Sims 5 and staying there because The Sims 4 SUCKS from the core, there is no magnanimous amount of DLC's that can fix it and that's utterly a shame.
The Sims has existed for nearly 25 years, and ten of those years belong to Sims 4. That's 40% of The Sims' entire existence! I can't believe Sims 4 is on-track to live longer than Sims 1, 2, and 3 combined.
No sims 5?! I’m dissapointed because Sims 4 is so broken and continues to be broken. This has put a nail in the coffin for my decision on moving to Paralives/Inzoi.
The one thing that gets to me and I can't help it is that graphics wise, Inzoi is too realistic and paralives isn't realistic enough I feel like the sims 4 is the happy medium
I lost all interest in the Sims this past year. I'm getting both Paralives and Inzoi, and even tho I don't like the cartoonish style of Paralives and might not even play it, I'm still buying for support, its a small company doing a great job with a solid vision for the game, even if its not my cup of tea.
I'm honestly not looking forward to Project Rene and whatever it turns out to be. They're putting a lot of emphasis on live service features and multiplayer, which isn't really a good sign. It feels like this game is just going to have more annoying ways to take our money. Really shows that they aren't paying attention to what players actually want.

The Minecraft movie is being made for toddlers plus it's also a cheap cashgrab, from some rumors I heard there was talk about The Sims movie maybe being rated R so it might have an adult oriented focus. It could still be bad but in a whole completely different ballpark than The Minecraft movie which is its own special abomination.

Project Rene never sounded like Sims 5 to me. From the beginning, they said that Project Rene would be a game alongside the Sims 4. EA had said multiple times they'll milk the Sims 4 until everyone collectively decides it's too broken to pay

Yep, they're profiting off of "prosumership": consumers who also produce content. I mean, many CC creators do deserve compensation for their work, but with EA's reputation I'm worried about the division of labour and profits.
The "good" from this is that apparently it'll allow console players to get CC content. And no, don't suggest they allow modding on consoles instead. That's not anything anyone has ever really done, there's no standard for it.
I rather buy mods off Patreon. The creator won't receive most of the money from EA. I feel like this will really hurt the modding community and it's longevity
The thing we need is a remake of sims 2 and sims 3. Actual remake to fix corruption issues in sims 2, performance issues in sims 3 and remaster the graphics.
Wouldn’t actually be surprised if EA will do that in the future seeing as they want to maximise their profit with minimal effort. A remaster of a game shouldn’t be that much of an effort.
The Sims 2 is a lot more stable than people thought, a lot harder to break. If you set objects.package to Read Only then you’re basically good as far as game corruption goes (still don’t add default NPCs to households)

I can't help but think Creator Kits is just EA preparing us for EA monetizing mods & CCs in Project Rene. They're trying to get us used to paying 5 bucks a bunch of times for a small amount of content; That isn't too far off from CC marketplace.
Instead of putting their money and resources into making their broken packs work, they're gonna spread them even thinner? Cool. 😂 Imagine if that money went into hires to fix Sims 4 packs and making new packs released in a FINISHED state.

Can always make new friends who play though! Games are for all ages (adults generally speaking) and I will likely be a gamer probably in my 60s and living a full life, blessed. 😂
I'm 45. I do have friends that play. I don't WANT to play with them. The Sims has always been a sandbox solo gameplay situation. It's a comfort game for me. I play games to relax after the stress of having to deal with other people. I don't want other people in my games.
Got you beat. I'm 66 and when I was asked what I was going to do when I retired, I said I'm going to play the Sims every day. That's still my goal and I do get a little bit in most days.
Honestly I don't care about the sims 5 at this point, unless EA wow me I'm not buying whatever game they put out. I didn't care about inzoi before we started seeing content and they genuinely surprised and wowed me so I'm looking forward to that instead.
Honestly, if the future of the sims is multiplayer, I'll walk. I don't play the sims to play with other people. I play the sims to escape people. I think most simmers play sims (and life simulators in general) to escape reality. And I think trying to modernize the Sims 4 is pointless this far into the game's life. The biggest issue with Sims 4 is that the technology it was created with is 10 years old. And everything now is based off that outdated software and code. That's why previous sims' games were only a few years long. The only way to modernize it, is to move onto the next generation and start from brand new code.
I have literally zero interest in multiplayer. I like being able to have my own little world and everything is under my control, I don’t need other people coming in and getting in my way. Socialising is too much effort, I don’t want to worry about having to converse with real people. I never make any actual friends in online games because I just can’t be stuffed to talk to people and that’s not suddenly going to change for the sims. I will not be buying a multiplayer game.
I also don’t want multi player for the same reason, to get away from reality and I think that is a lot of us. I beta tested Sims Online back in the 2000’s, I hated it lmao. I like to be in my own world - do what I want, when I want. When Sim City 4 came out, I hated that aspect of it but at least we had the option to play alone. If they do add multi player we better be able to opt out or I’ll be walking too.
They don’t care about why people play the sims and what die hard fans love about the franchise, they just care about what’s trending and how to make the sims something it’s not for £££. The franchise is dead bc of EA and it’s so sad.
I know right, why? Sims 4 is barely hanging in there, is creatively bankrupt as far as gameplay and vision let alone an entire movie with plot/dialogue and movies are rarely good these days, just seems like a recipe for mediocrity. . . or money laundering.
What would it even be about? The Sims doesn’t have any kind of story or huge cultural influenced over a particular message. Minecraft you have to go kill the ender dragon, and Barbies’s whole positive message a female empowerment has somehow turned around into an insult. Those are ideas of what can be done movie wise for those, but what exactly does the Sims have? we already have the Truman show, gamer, even free guy.
I think Project Rene will be Roblox-like meta crap. And with 'modernisation' of TS4 it feels like they'll try to add tools they saw in InZoi and Paralives. Hopefully I'm wrong

I really wish they'd just make a "The Best of Sims " that is the best of S1 to S4. All the Drama, Iconic Families, the Lore, the Occults, build/ buy/create, color wheel, open world, cars, place your lot where you want, babies are NOT objects, family games play, etc. This S4 platform is the Worst to try to make this game last forever on. But also, let's break the ui permanently by adding and then removing throbbing, distracting buttons. Does EA even realize they might get some actual competition in the life sim genre? Or is the strategy to secure the player base via sunk cost fallacy? I'm looking forward to the mess that will be a Sims movie. It could honestly be pretty interesting, if they did it right? The comment about simmers not having real-life friends who play Sims seems spot-on to me. And I think most simmers prefer to keep their games single player so no one can mess with their stuff, then simply share what they are doing in their individual games.

Once again I ask if the fan creators of these kits get paid or is it just in-game rewards & free games? IOW, are they being used? They should get paid market value. Bethesda tried this many times with its Creation Club, which has a lot of problems and usually has the same stuff you can get for free with mods. In the end, this is a company who is no doubt trying to grab money off the backs of the modders. I know I sound like a negative Nellie, but this is not the first time a game company has done this.
For sixam's kit, I asked and he said only if you use the creator code. So it's ok in a sense because he can put it on his resume/portfolio if he wants a job in the industry (as if, game companies are laying off people left and right), but yeah, it's not looking good so far.
It definitely feels like its gonna be a multiplayer expansion pack. And it has to be in a separate "world" or server because the game itself is so buggy already. Im not sure what you'll even be able to do especially if you're playing with people that dont have the same packs as you
The only way that sims 4 can be saved is if they update the engine and make it so they can do more stuff, but until then, I don't think there's any hope for the sims 4. But until people stop paying for sims 4 they are gonna milk it completely
If Project Renée is going to be a mobile game, I refuse to play. Not a fan. Far too many mobile games are specifically designed to be addictive. And knowing EA it's probably going to be full of micro transactions of various forms. Not to mention there's almost guaranteed to be something with data protection. So yea. I'm just going to look forward to seeing InZOI and Paralives, and that's probably going to be that for me and EA.

This is so sad. I left the series after three and I have been with the series since the original came out in 2000. I was holding out hope that they would make a comeback with sims five. I guess that was too much to hope for.
Same same same. I've tried giving the sims 4 multiple chances, but it simply sucks. It always did. Even with DLC and mods. Sims 3 with mods was peak! Paralives looks incredibly promising, though! I'm getting excited about that one! 😊
EA saw Bethesda's Creation Club and thought "cash cow", lets do our own version. Sims really needed a new base mainline game, since they are not doing Sims 5 they've pulled me right off that fence I was sitting on for InZoi and I was always gonna buy Paralives. They just don't want to inovate, they don't want to compete, they don't want to even try. They just want to coast with garbage packs for another 10 yeas.
the project rene is actually a test lab to improve the sims 4, it is not another game, what we must understand is that only the sims 4 will remain until the end of the franchise
I literally bought a new computer for Inzoi so we'll see how good it is when it's actually released but I plan on moving on from the sims in general. I'll still play but I'm not putting money into it anymore.

I thought they said the new sims project was going to be mobile forever ago? They said something along the lines of it being "on mobile and pc" as well as always online. If you play the mobile sims games they are also much more actively updated and I've had suspicions the slipping attention for the sims 4 would make sense if it were being reassigned to the much more lucrative mobile games as they have microtransactions and this is ea.
Now that they mention it in a screen shot, would it really be so hard for them to add an interaction on community lots where if you sit on a bench you can feed the birds? Then toddlers could chade the birds. Wow, such features. And if I'm honest, if a social sims game where you only get 1 apartment would work at all it would be on mobile.
I've never seen a multiplayer mode in a game that allowed for mods, so im wondering how fun that's going to be. I personally can't play sims without mods. It's just too boring to me😂 and indeed, i also dont have any friends that play the Sims, so i won't be touching multiplayer with a 10ft pole.
If they’re gonna stay with the current model they need to 1. Solve the random lag issue that happens for God knows why and disappears if you enter options menu. 2. Need to optimize the UI. Simology can’t be a huge scroll where 5 big buttons all lead to CAS. Just remove that BS.
On the subject of the Creator's Kits..... I think this is E A's attempt to bring C C creators into the fold to keep them from creating free content. I hope it ends up just being like two kits and CC creators go back to doing what they love.

The Minecraft movie is being made for toddlers plus it's also a cheap cashgrab, from some rumors I heard there was talk about The Sims movie maybe being rated R so it might have an adult oriented focus. It could still be bad but in a whole completely different ballpark than The Minecraft movie which is its own special abomination.

Project Rene never sounded like Sims 5 to me. From the beginning, they said that Project Rene would be a game alongside the Sims 4. EA had said multiple times they'll milk the Sims 4 until everyone collectively decides it's too broken to pay

I'm 45. I do have friends that play. I don't WANT to play with them. The Sims has always been a sandbox solo gameplay situation. It's a comfort game for me. I play games to relax after the stress of having to deal with other people. I don't want other people in my games.

Honestly I don't care about the sims 5 at this point, unless EA wow me I'm not buying whatever game they put out.
I didn't care about inzoi before we started seeing content and they genuinely surprised and wowed me so I'm looking forward to that instead.
Honestly, if the future of the sims is multiplayer, I'll walk. I don't play the sims to play with other people. I play the sims to escape people. I think most simmers play sims (and life simulators in general) to escape reality. And I think trying to modernize the Sims 4 is pointless this far into the game's life. The biggest issue with Sims 4 is that the technology it was created with is 10 years old. And everything now is based off that outdated software and code. That's why previous sims' games were only a few years long. The only way to modernize it, is to move onto the next generation and start from brand new code.

I have literally zero interest in multiplayer. I like being able to have my own little world and everything is under my control, I don’t need other people coming in and getting in my way. Socialising is too much effort, I don’t want to worry about having to converse with real people. I never make any actual friends in online games because I just can’t be stuffed to talk to people and that’s not suddenly going to change for the sims. I will not be buying a multiplayer game.
I also don’t want multi player for the same reason, to get away from reality and I think that is a lot of us. I beta tested Sims Online back in the 2000’s, I hated it lmao. I like to be in my own world - do what I want, when I want. When Sim City 4 came out, I hated that aspect of it but at least we had the option to play alone. If they do add multi player we better be able to opt out or I’ll be walking too.

What would it even be about? The Sims doesn’t have any kind of story or huge cultural influenced over a particular message. Minecraft you have to go kill the ender dragon, and Barbies’s whole positive message a female empowerment has somehow turned around into an insult. Those are ideas of what can be done movie wise for those, but what exactly does the Sims have? we already have the Truman show, gamer, even free guy.

Once again I ask if the fan creators of these kits get paid or is it just in-game rewards & free games? IOW, are they being used? They should get paid market value. Bethesda tried this many times with its Creation Club, which has a lot of problems and usually has the same stuff you can get for free with mods. In the end, this is a company who is no doubt trying to grab money off the backs of the modders. I know I sound like a negative Nellie, but this is not the first time a game company has done this.
For sixam's kit, I asked and he said only if you use the creator code. So it's ok in a sense because he can put it on his resume/portfolio if he wants a job in the industry (as if, game companies are laying off people left and right), but yeah, it's not looking good so far.

If Project Renée is going to be a mobile game, I refuse to play. Not a fan. Far too many mobile games are specifically designed to be addictive. And knowing EA it's probably going to be full of micro transactions of various forms. Not to mention there's almost guaranteed to be something with data protection. So yea. I'm just going to look forward to seeing InZOI and Paralives, and that's probably going to be that for me and EA.

I thought they said the new sims project was going to be mobile forever ago? They said something along the lines of it being "on mobile and pc" as well as always online. If you play the mobile sims games they are also much more actively updated and I've had suspicions the slipping attention for the sims 4 would make sense if it were being reassigned to the much more lucrative mobile games as they have microtransactions and this is ea.
Now that they mention it in a screen shot, would it really be so hard for them to add an interaction on community lots where if you sit on a bench you can feed the birds? Then toddlers could chade the birds. Wow, such features.
