I’m Romanian and yes so much dysfunction!! It’s been so hard to break from it and break that generational curse but it has been so freeing as well!

This is an excellent question. She’s so cute and I cannot empathize with her more. I’m just like her. Story of my life. Some people see respect as speaking up or being quiet, and others prefer avoiding any conflict or addressing the conflict. I see both sides. Both sides have to be able to empathize. Ironic how a person can be empathetic and defensive of their own views but not empathetic of an opposing view. I love this woman-I wish her and her husband the best.

By the end of the call, I’m wondering how she meant the word critical. Was it that she had been critical just in her head?

Purely from the example that she gave, it sounds like he is gaslighting her into thinking she is "critical" when in fact she is just expressing her wishes and needs. A big red flag that he said to her that she shouldn't say anything and she should just respect him and his niece. I think this is what Dr Cloud sees too which is why he is bringing up the topic of sexism. I really hope I am wrong though. Us Romanians can indeed be very critical of others due to our upbringing and this was a missed opportunity to discuss that side more
