I pretty much avoided bug designs in my later fakemon drawings because they always felt like they needed the most research to feel clever or believable. Kinda like the effort that went into these. These are great! My favorite of the bunch is definitely the Burbwhirl line, partly because of what I wrote earlier but also because its stages stay consistently appealing to me. They all look great, they just have a bit of an edge.
I started making a region and after the regional Bug I couldn't think of anything good. however I can give my concepts of the starters. My Fire starter became Fire|Poison and was based on the myth South Americans made involving the Gila Monster, when they didn't know what it looked like, and they toned up the poison factor so much they added a scorpion tail. My Water starter was based on a myth of a sea monster. The monster is a combination of an anteater, a dragon, and a platypus for some reason. I just thought it was oddly cool. It became Water|Rock because I was like "But what if the platypus tail became made of rock, and is like a mace. That's the weapon part!" And then my grass starter was just a frog. Literally just an extinct type of frog.
Other than triangles, the grass line is based on the evolution of the Ancient World. The first is untamed flora and fauna that existed before humans. The second is a caveman or neanderthal, the least advanced of humans. The last is an Aztec, an advanced ancient civilization.
Aleksandr Zhinchyn You make a point since Alphalphalops is canonically dimwitted which could be interpreted as offensive to the natives of South America who were running civilizations and were just as innovative and intelligent as European and Asian societies, same could be said for African tribes but that’s a different can of worms.
STONE BOLT It wouldn’t really seem “offensive” unless you’re a super-woke activist who lives on Twitter and who’s only hobby is to think wayyy too deep about artwork that is meant to be playful and fun, so that you can be second-handedly offended on behalf of ethnic groups who aren’t even connected to you, and can try to cancel an artist who was just trying to entertain people. Anything is racist if you dig deep enough and squint your eyes hard enough, right?
Maybe the leaves on the back of Alfalphalops’ head can cure many illnesses, hence the “Live” Maybe The average Danfluff’s personality has it be playful and not take things seriously, it find most things funny, Being the “Laugh” And Llampas tries to make friends and show affection to nearly every person it sees, being “Love”
I feel like Dandflull and Alfalphalops could have had a secondary Rock type, because of the humps. It's also a really cool and kinda rare type combo in official Pokemon games, and would somewhat fix the Water/Bug starter just objectively having type advantage against it. Sure, it would be weak to neither Fire nor Ground, but I think this would be overall more balanced of a starter triangle.
My god, everything about this is perfect. PERFECT! Most ppl just make a grass water fire not realizing grass is prehistoric fire is Chinese zodiac, water is based on a weapon. Thank you for implementing those. I would maybe make the fire evolution longer and make it have a cobra head-no reason other than just design. But the grass being 3 pyramids, fire stop drop roll, water good bad and ugly, so much thought has been put into this. I absolutely love it. The region being pnw, where I live, makes it more special. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Is Water based on weapons? Sure, you can pretty clearly see the inspiration behind Blastoise, Empoleon, and Samurott, but what weapons are Feraligatr, Swampert, and Primarina based on?
@@useraccount333 it's more RPG classes imo. From 1-8, Tank (literally both kinds), berzerker, monk (a huge stretch i know), knight, samurai, ninja, caster or bard, gunner.
Actually, Water can be for both animals that live both in and outside water (turtle, crocodile, axolotl, penguin, otter, frog, sealion/seal, basilisc) and weapons (canon, brass knuckles/english punch, war fan, trident, sword, ninja star, singing, gun)
Videos like these are really great, and personally inspired me and my friends to conceptualize this sort of thing ourselves, and we've been thinking a bit about a hypothetical region based on our own home state of Minnesota. I love this so much, and keep up the cool work!

Eh, a Flamingo pokemeon was kinda inevitable. When i first saw Flamigo and its name, my first thought was "Crap, they fell into one of the lamest fan concepts ever and made a fire type flamingo." Then i saw Flying/FIGHTING. "Heh?" I mean, i think i heard about Flamingos being a bit territorial, but fighting? Its different then what i expected, but still weird. Eh, its better than the pun i saw so much of FLAME-Ingo.
As someone who's favorite type is water, always picks the water starters, AND has just started playing New Vegas, the Burbwhirl line is speaking to me SUPER hard right now. Coming from someone who is mostly "meh" on Fakemons, these are actually _really_ good.
Watching it at the end of 2022 made me realise you was bestowed with gift of prophecy by Apollo. You predicted real world flamingo with element on it 😭
Why is Alphalfalops not a Grass-Rock type. It would mean it’s also dual type as well as the other starters. As well as also being able to hit much more Pokemon with STAB super effective damage
@@im_lifeline_ Snivy is a snake, but with limbs, cuz the Snivy line is based on the evolution of snakes and how they used to have limbs but eventually lost them.
Burbwhirl is my starter for sure and it's evolution spoutlaw and Vaguamael looks so cool. And the fire starter looks like fire motor monster villain and the water starter looks like the sheriff/hero and the grass starter looks like a goofy side character
Aspfault: *gains a quad weakness to water* Also Aspfault: Little water never hurt nobody *evolves* Tarmendoa: *re-enacts the Rattlesnake Jake scene with Vaquamael*
Every starter has a theme based on the group. By the looks on them, the theme for them is... Film genres! For Burbwhirl, Spoutlaw and Vaquamael? For all indications, these three are for the wild western genre. The title the good, the bad, and the ugly and the cowboys. For Therpal, Aspfault and Tarmendoa? A Road movie! For those who are living under a rock, a road movie is a film genre in which the main characters leave home on a road trip, typically altering the perspective from their everyday lives. Road? Snake? Can i draw a picture? I can imagine one of the evolutions of this fire type snake saying... "Like a gloooove!" For Llampa, Danfluff and Alfalphalops? Judging from the humps and the llama-equse appearance, this must be adventure.
It would be cool if the Vaquamail had a hidden ability called "Quickdraw", that somehow make him always atack first by the first turn he is on the field.
I'm creating a Midwestern Region. This involves the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma (Shares something in common with the other states), South Dakota, Texas (Shares something in common with the other states), and Wisconsin. This is the Great Western Region, (Named after the Great Western Railroad). I decided to include Oklahoma and Texas since they are part of an area known as "Tornado Alley".
I’m actually having a hard time choosing because all 3 of these starters are very good. They obviously had a lot of care and thought put into them, and it shows. Though if I had to pick one, Vaquamael would be the one I’d settle on
chaosbug7 IKR! These all look so good but if I had to choose I would try to lean away from the fire type because in the Pokémon games I’ve played of different Gens, most of the time I choose fire.
Me too! Huh, tho this is the 2nd time in a row I'm not a fan of the Grass starter... it'd be the 3rd overall if I didn't grew a taste for Torterra, so... The Fire starter would be my second choice (just what happened to Cinderace)
Lockstin creating pokemon: like 3 levels of portmanteaus relating to its name Me creating pokemon: "TRIUMPHANT" BECAUSE IT ENDS IN "PHANT" AND IT'S AN ELEPHANT GET IT
Grass and Rock? I feel like there's a "grok" pun in there too. You know, intuitively understanding stuff without knowing why. Fits the spacey but very chill Llampas line.
Fun fact: Pampas grass is actually pretty sharp. Its long blades of grass are serrated, so if your run your finger down the side you get a nasty cut. What I'm saying is just be careful when you pet your adorable Llampas, they have literal razor leafs.
I can just imagine Spoutlaw suddenly evolving and turning his partner in crime in to the police mid-heist. Also, I love what these starters can be. They aren’t like the Galarian starters, where each one of them is confined to a single role. Each of them could be unique and I love them.
I don’t know if this was intentional, but it seems that the starter lines connections have something to do with the 70s. The fire starter is a lava lamp, The grass starter is a beatnik, and the water started as a western cowboy hero (very popular genre in the 70s)
Vaquamael looks fantastic, i can imagine a signature move like Water Lasso: Water/Physical The user hit and restraint the target with a water loop. This ensures the next attack does not miss the target. Pow = 60 Acc = 100 PP = 5 Prio = 0 Effect : Ensure that the user's next move will hit the target.
It would destroy the meta because every team would run a smeargle with that and 1HKO moves... (then again its not like the meta is good anyway) maybe it lowering the enemies speed drastically would be a good added effect, but that would be an add on after the weather effect system was dropped in the next gen only to be replaced by a new gimmick.
Someone else knows about road snakes! I created a Fakemon a couple years back called Hisstar (Hiss + Tar) Ground/Poison that leaks toxic burning pitch and who's signature move is a poison-type pitch shot that has a chance to burn.
Vaquamael is reminding me of Intelleon, i wish it was thicker and showed off more insect like traits, like having a second pair of arms and maybe some mandibles on its face
@@ksoundkaiju9256 to be fair, he probably has mandibles but the scarf covers it, and i think it would be too much information if he had four arms (it wouldn't look as clean)
>.> with that in mind who would make a reasonable professor of the region, Prof Pine? And I'm figuring the study would be weather & how Pokemon would affect it.
I started making my own Fakemon region about a year ago, and oh my god I'm so jealous of the amount of detail and hardwork that's put into this. Some of these might've even leaked into my own stuff like the fire starters design, or the water starters typing, or the grass ones gimmick with Pollen and stuff .-.
Lockstin, Hoopsandhiphop, and Subjectively are all making new regions And I’m *loving it!* Who would I choose as my starter here...it’ll be easier to choose when I see what other fire water grass types are available
For the fire starter, there's a saying called "burning rubber" which basically means skidding or drifting on the road, which I think fits perfectly, cause skidding or drifting usually happens when going fast, and can sometimes cause smoke. It fits perfectly.
@@prehistoricshrimp I can agree with you, I like animal crossing but I dislike the cringey vine animations and the people who have to mention animal crossing when an insect or fish (that is in animal crossing) is shown in videos, tweets, movies, basically in media in general. I also dislike animal crossing humor for obvious reasons. BUT I still like the game it's very calming and really helps me just ignore everything happening in this planet.
I can already imagine an anime episode where the final water evolution is helping other Pokémon rob food but ash realised it doesn’t actually attack its pikachu because later on it’s revealed it’s undercover and sneaks food out to hungry Pokémon
Legit though A fire type flamingo would make alot of sense I mean they live volcanos...or at least super heated lakes near the tops of volcanos They would so be a water fire type
I love that big stupid camel, that’s my baby right there. These are all so good! Vaquamael’s design and concept is amazing and Tarmendoa is badass!!! The scared baby snake is also adorable
No one: Danfluff: runs away from its trainer and towards the funny looking hoen tourist with the green hair and the colourful stone necklace Wally: GET THIS THING AWAY FROM MEEEE
doesn't Wally have asthma? I bet he'd be allergic to Danfluff, but because of how much he loves Pokemon, he'd suffer through an asthma attack just to pet the Danfluff. which is even worse because it would horrify Wally's family.
JOSHUA ANORUIGWE He is a fire safety mascot who promotes the prevention of forest fires with responsible efforts such as completely putting out your campfire after camping.
Usually the choice is an easy “fire starter” for me, but this one has me second guessing myself. I’m torn between water and fire, but then I look at grass, and am like, “wait a minute...”
I tend to pick the one I like best all the time. Like I remember I used to always pick Fire Types but when I saw Snivy. I chose them. And then when I played Omega Ruby I picked Treecko. Etc. You get the idea, lol
0:36: “Yo-Kai Watch” and “Dinosaur King”? Huh. It’s been years since I last saw “Dinosaur King”, though I can see why it might be seen as somewhat second tier to “Pokémon” since they’re all just normal dinosaurs with more unique attacks. Also, the evil team are just a discount Team Rocket and the protagonist (believe it or not) shares a voice actor with Ash Ketchum. Also, “Yo-Kai Watch” has Plenty of cool Yo-Kai in it, many of which cooler than most Pokémon. Jibanyan would be a match against Ash’s Pikachu any day.
I personally love snakes, so I'd choose the Tarmendoa line. However, I still really like the other starters and would probably try playing through with them as well.
There's a neat "exaggerated American stereotype" theme that runs through these starters. Bruh Same I Made My Water Starter A Helium Balloon 😅
I’m making a region based on Mexico.
That's the weapon part!"
And then my grass starter was just a frog. Literally just an extinct type of frog.
@@sacredskyy my favourite gotta be the water one
Other than triangles, the grass line is based on the evolution of the Ancient World. The first is untamed flora and fauna that existed before humans. The second is a caveman or neanderthal, the least advanced of humans. The last is an Aztec, an advanced ancient civilization.
Ok that's cool and all buuuut,
Do you think alpafalops (definitely miss spelled that) would represent an advanced civilization
Ok that’s way better
Aleksandr Zhinchyn
You make a point since Alphalphalops is canonically dimwitted which could be interpreted as offensive to the natives of South America who were running civilizations and were just as innovative and intelligent as European and Asian societies, same could be said for African tribes but that’s a different can of worms.
Don't forget Samurott...
A good theming for the grass starters could be the phrase "live, laugh, love". Maybe some of their character traits could reflect this.
Don’t turn camel hippie into a Karen
Maybe the leaves on the back of Alfalphalops’ head can cure many illnesses, hence the “Live”
Maybe The average Danfluff’s personality has it be playful and not take things seriously, it find most things funny, Being the “Laugh”
And Llampas tries to make friends and show affection to nearly every person it sees, being “Love”
I would pick the fire starter because of one thing and that is it FINALLY STOPS the fire starter trope of finishing its line as a bipedal animal.
True, Game Freak almost always manages to make it work, but the concept is overused.

Road? Snake? For Llampa, Danfluff and Alfalphalops? Judging from the humps and the llama-equse appearance, this must be adventure.

Also, I love what these starters can be. They aren’t like the Galarian starters, where each one of them is confined to a single role. Each of them could be unique and I love them.
I don’t know if this was intentional, but it seems that the starter lines connections have something to do with the 70s.
The fire starter is a lava lamp,
The grass starter is a beatnik,
and the water started as a western cowboy hero (very popular genre in the 70s)

me: *already holding Llampas merch* it has a cute snoot
**laughs in fire**
Llampas tribe
Vaquamael: *exists*
Me: "I'll take it!"
I can see your a man of quality aswell

But it does not exists
Even though it doesn’t exist I’ll take Vaquamael any day
If it was official it would be my fourth favorite last state water starter.
I personally love snakes, so I'd choose the Tarmendoa line. However, I still really like the other starters and would probably try playing through with them as well.

tarmendoa is such a badass final evolution, too!
I would get the snake then work my way up to get the llama and the beetle I NEED ALL OF THEM
Tarmendoa... Yeah, I don't need to know anything about it's stats to know that would be my choice. Now THAT'S a gorgeous design!!!
