The origibal Handcannon was way better, this one is uuterly innacurate, and deals only 36dmg the only good aspect is its special upgrade wich make it infinite, the Broken Butterfly once upgraded to special deal 40 and have a better accuracy and rate of fire. Broken Butterfly + Cat's ears is way better.
Hunk is the character to use since his melee makes him snap the neck of his enemies, even the Bella Sisters and Dr Salvador, thus making the mercenaries playthrough even easier.
The fact you keep your score even if you die basically removes the one real limit of og mercenaries bc now you can go buck wild, spam grenades, spray and pray, and not worry if you get chain sawed or Gatling gunned
Agree. Not to mention in the OG, there are more stages to be clear and ALL ur characters must clear it. Downside of this hand Cannon is it's at least 3 times WEAKER than it's predecessor (HC in the original has almost 100 atk power while this one has only nearly 40)
@@christian1neza1656 almost all weapons are not as strong as the og. The red9 for example. The dead space remake did the same thing. The weapon stats from the og and remake were different numbers.
I appreciate that Capcom added this as an option. Beating professional mode on a new game is a big ask, even with every unlockable advantage. Also, Mercenaries is much more fun than Professional difficulty.

@@Afr0Thund3r - it isn't just the damage that feels strong on Krauser, it's that his knife kills give like 4 seconds and the combo bonus seems to be very easy to maintain, so I never needed to go grab the extra time. I grabbed them anyway when running around but never needed that extra time, I got the 150 kills in my first run of Village as Krauser and had over 3 mins remaining - I have S rank on the other 3 but needed that extra time, quite a few moments where I was under 10 secs remaining and needed the elite kill.
I'm glad for those who can get it this way, I did pro to get mine but for those who don't want to speed run or do another 15 or so hour playthrough for the HC this is amazing news. Part of me wishes that mercenaries just gave us the PLR back but separate ways is still coming so I'll hold out hope for that. (cries)
That's me, I probably wouldn't have gotten it the other way. I'm in NG+ hardcore and just got it through mercenaries. I also had a ticket saved up for the exclusive and it's maxed out. I'm going to have a blast finishing this run and it actually motivated me to do another playthrough after this one simply to headshot enemies with the hand canon.
Also, if you are trying to unlock the typewriter or hand cannon by doing a pro run, HIGHLY recommend using the chapter and section skip tricks. The only real downside is that you won't have quite as much money but honestly if you've already played the game a couple times you should know what you need to invest in by now and how to farm extra cash and which sections that are just ammo burners can be skipped I'm hoping they won't be patched bc that's part of the fun of the game. You can choose to play it straight or use the exploits.
What's the chapter skip trick? I think I know what you're talking about with the section skip tricks, like getting the golden goat head early without the zealots lowering the platform you're on, but idk anything about whole chapter skipping.
Was playing the Mercenaries recently. Then I completed the Island S++ with Hunk, then it says "Handcannon unlocked". I swear my jaw just dropped because of how easy it is to get it now!

Yeah, this update brought the Platinum/100 percent difficulty down SIGNIFICANTLY. So much easier to get 3 S ranks over playing Professional without bonus weapons. I'm proud to be one of those who unlocked the handcannon and Platinum the original and hard way, but I'm also happy for all the others who don't have to suffer (as much) now.
There was no way I'd make it through professional without bonus or upgraded weapons. This is great news for me 😂 Update: unlocked it last night. Now for some revenge on Dr. Salvador in NG+.
why not? sure you can. i'm not good with any of this merchenaries mode.. it takes me 3 or 4 playthrough before do new game professional run without bonus weapon. and clear it in 4 hours.

I acquired the weapon and did not give it much attention because of the scarcity of magnum ammo but if you fully upgrade this weapon, it has unlimited ammo. This thing is a gem.
It’s nice they included an additional options for players. I’m still going to unlock it the original way because I’m already halfway through my professional playthrough (with kitten ears and Ashley armor). I think Kitten ears is much more of a headache to unlock.

I beat the older version of the game on "Professional Mode" just to get the P.R.L.412, but truth be told it was only slightly harder than "Normal Mode". That's not the case with the remake. With the remake it seems everything is pumped up to the breaking point on "Professional Mode". Now all of us that never got the Hand Cannon in the original game ( Mercenaries Mode was tough in the original ) have an easier way to obtain it this time around. Awesome!
I have to agree, the handcannon in this game was relatively hard to get for what it offered, now it's okay, the infinite ammo tempts but it's not as good as it seems

There is no reward for S++ all character in the 3 stages. Just did that. But damn those stage records look nice! To get S++ you need to score >1M points. You will need to keep your combo up to >135(ish) and if all enemies are killed and like 2 minutes are still left you could make it. It's a fun experience to achieve, specially with the new Mayhem mode!
considering the fact that the hand cannon is so incredibly hard to unlock in the main game compared to the pretty much free give-away in mercenaries, makes me think that it could be a bug or something and the devs didnt actually intend for it to be obtainable that way or they had another weapon in mind instead of HC but somehow messed up the coding or the unlock requirements. something definitely isnt right here
@ichaelis The trophy is for completing professional, no matter the grade. There is another trophy for S+ on hardcore,as it doesn't say "or higher" like the regular completion ones do.I don't know if S+ on professional will get you "S+ rank Investigator" or the one for standard. Either way, S+ on professional is not required for platinum.

I got a A rank on my first professional run, no bonus weapons or costumes were unlocked yet (I got the Typewriter and the Hand cannon in a single run), I ended up with 6:59:59 (one second away from B Rank), which had me pacing around the house for 10 mins or so just trying not to lose my shit LOL. I am kind of disappointed that they didn't add anything new to unlock for Mercenaries, I love the game mode, but not actually getting anything out of it is pretty saddening tbh
Unlocking the cat ears is without a doubt the hardest thing to do in RE4 remake, I spent about 2 days per chapter in chapter 1-6, once pass that with the Chicago sweeper it was a breeze but I still had to repeat a few chapters after cause of the whole 15 saves or less and 5 hours and 30 mins or below!
Thank you for giving me the encouragement to try to get this weapon. I could never unlock this in the original, so I thought doing Professional would be the way, but I was able to unlock this using Mercenaries.

Irksome how other content creators say professional is "Easy" and assuming every RE gamer can perfect parry, able to do headshots without missing, etc.
yeah me too , I am at the village gate (hardcore) and still don't know how to parry or 'kick' ......the controls dont show me that ...so gotta wait for my son to come home & teach his dad a thing or two. ..& for me , after this video ...I'll teach him how to get the handcanon
They say it's "easy" as in easier than you think because you don't have to parry or headshot anything. You just have to know that running away and repositioning are just as effective in a fight as being a perfect aiming parry god.
@@XZeroOneArmour the game does tell you how to parry and kick, all you gotta do is stagger someone to get the prompt to kick them, and the parry is literally like any other, just press your left front trigger right before the enemy lands his attack, pretty simple
mercenaries mode is surprisingly easy. I remember not being able to get through a single stage in the original, but its so easy to get an S because of the ultimate attacks your characters can do.
I got the handcannon by abusing krauser in Mercenaries mode. His mayhem mode moment is saved until the bosses arrive, then I do the thrust attack and instant kill them. Other than that I keep running around and use the left bumper knife attacks. He auto dodges if you keep moving and knifing around, and it attacks mad quick doing insane damage. If there’s too many enemies, I get distance and use the Explosive bow, easy S rank for every level
I got it today without even knowing it lmao. Went through the whole game with just the punisher. Striker, stingray, and sub machine gun. It’s all you need and I beat it under 10 hours. I was worried I was using a bonus weapon but realized I didn’t know what the game considers a bonus weapon
Only play the game in vr so had to get used to the normal controls, but only took me about 4 games to get used to it, then first try on the next 2 maps. So happy this method exists
My only gripe about mercenaries is the difficulty. Sometimes it does feel a bit easy after you try it out a few times, it's not a breeze unless you've invested some time into it but I'd also like a tougher challenge without resorting to mods.

I got it within 30 minutes - pretty good weapon - not as powerful as the Broken Butterfly, but still packs a punch - exclusive upgrade grants it infinite ammo

Getting the handcannon in the original RE4 is one the most tedious and frustrating things I've ever endured in all my gaming. Did it on the GameCube twice, did it on the Xbox 360, then PS4, and then Switch. SUPER happy to know that it's much easier this time around. Kinda disappointed that there's no PRL though.
They also added in purchasable exclusives tickets that you can use for the game exclusives upgrades a early as chapter 2. So now I’m doing my professional speed run to get infinite ammo. They also sell for 80k so if ya got a spare $30 you can max out the damage and get an infinite Chicago sweeper and primal knife. The hardest part of the professional speed run has now been made easy.
The hand cannon was always a mercenaries reward so it only makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is to have it as the reward for the toughest thing to do in the game which should have rewarded the PRL412 (iykyk)

Hunk is the byfar the easiest. His TMP hits likes a train, his neck breaker is an instant kill on special enemies and having a solo ammopool is priceless
I do like this option, the thought of doing pro on a fresh save was a bit daunting to me, I love resident evil but I’m not that good with a lot of games so doing the game from scratch on that difficulty was gonna be a challenge for me, I like how they added it in via mercenaries for people who aren’t that good but like you said it’s a bit of a slap in the face to people who put blood sweat and tears into pro new gam
Thanks for posting this. I was afraid I would never be able to get an S Rank in Mercenaries since I never got an S Rank in the original game. Then I saw this video and realized it might be easier than I thought. All I can say is as soon as I got Krauser getting an S rank is damn near easy.
@@swampert564 were you trying to unlock Cat Ears (unlimited ammo) and Handcannon at the same time? You only need NG S+ for Cat Ears, Handcannon was beat NG without bonus weapons. The easiest way was to use Armor Ashley/Chicken Hat/Chicago Sweeper to get the S+ for Cat Ears, then use the Cat Ears to get the Handcannon.
@@Notius Nah, I got the Handcannon awhile ago. Beating Pro without bonus weapons wasn't that hard. I'm trying to get the Cat Ears now without using the strategy where you use an exclusive ticket on the Chicago Typewriter or Ashley's armor. I know I can do it sooner or later and I'm having a good time even if I am failing.
@@lambredas6981 Yeah, though it works differently from the Chicago/Handcannon/Rocket Launcher, it gives you unlimited reloads instead of being able to shoot forever like the other 3.
I’m glad they went back to this way of getting the hand cannon because it’s the way in the OG resident evil 4 mercenaries BUT if I remember correctly on the OG mercenaries you have to get five star on all levels with all characters.
I wondered what is going on when I checked my boni shop but thanks for this video. Was extremely easy to get even s+ on all maps with hunk and krauser. Krauser is defenetly a crazy hack n slay character. When you time his mutation good you can't die. The only thing you need to remember is that you can't open inventory as mutated krauser so only mutate with enough health. I mean there aren't much enemies who can hurt him. But the catapults in the castle level if you haven't destroyed them can be dangerous when you are low health. And with hunk collect a lot Flashbangs use the special boos if you need to collect ammo or for bosses. I cleared all levels with both easily
I don't have it unlocked yet, because I have yet to do it the campaign, but I was fully prepared to go about it that way,, and I fully agree with your point.
No somebody already did it they got all s plus plus there is no special unlocks do not go for it not unless you really want to there is no extra unlocks maybe later on when they update this game with adas both ways but as of now there is no special unlocks forgetting 2 plusses

I had not yet done a no bonus weapon run on Professional, so I was pleasantly surprised when the handcannon popped up after playing through Mercenaries! I might go crazy now haha.
That feels like a slap in the face for beating professional mode with A rank or higher to get armored Ashley and the chicago type writer to unlock the cat ears. Then play professional again again with the cat ears and no bonus weapons to unlock the handcannon.
They've also added weapon tickets to the store so can get infinite ammo at start for Chicago instead of grinding challenges before chapter 7 therefore saving more time.
To anyone struggling, use Krauser and just use his knife and use the bow and or mayhem on large hordes. I got to almost 500,000 each run easy as pie 😁😊
Anyone trying to run Professional without bonus weapons, do NOT overlook the Bolt Thrower... That weapon is absolutely god tier in pro when it comes to single enemies just hiding in corners. Why waste ammo when you can pick it all back up?! (plus the mines are kinda OP when max leveled considering how cheap they are to craft)
I decided to dive into RE4 & Separate Ways remake after not playing it since beating SW when it released a few months back….when I started a new play through the hand cannon was in my storage & I didn’t even know I unlocked it or I didn’t remember that I did!
I unlocked it om accident just playing mercenaries for my FIRST 3 TIMES, as long as u get a s rank ur fine, and its not hard at all to get in this game with everyones new op abilities
Capcom really missed out by cutting the P.R.L from the remake. Originally, that was unlocked by beating professional difficulty anyways so it would’ve made a whole lot more sense putting that there, that way everyone would have an incentive to play the mercenaries mode. For people that unlocked the handcannon the other way, there’s quite literally nothing to gain from playing it.
I already have cat ears and hand cannon from professional. mercenaries felt to be a joke i S + w all characters on village then just used hunk to finish the rest. Was hoping for prl but it is what it is

You get 2 exclusive rewards in mercenary mode. You gotta score 500k on all stages with all characters to unlock the RDP outfit and the hand cannon as well.
I unlocked this the other night when mercenaries first came out. If I'm being honest I feel really bad about getting it the cheap and easy way, I would've much rather went through on professional to get it but unfortunately nothing I can do about it now. Hopefully they make it harder to get in the future like the original

It is but it's way more useful. Either of the other 2 magnums fully upgraded are better than the handcannon if you have the cat ears.

I remember finally unlocking the handcannon on the Wii Version years ago. Achievement unlocked for my teen years.

After 15min i got the handcannon, and all can say is thank you.
I beat the older version of the game on "Professional Mode" just to get the P.R.L.412, but truth be told it was only slightly harder than "Normal Mode". That's not the case with the remake. With the remake it seems everything is pumped up to the breaking point on "Professional Mode". Now all of us that never got the Hand Cannon in the original game ( Mercenaries Mode was tough in the original ) have an easier way to obtain it this time around. Awesome!

I have to agree, the handcannon in this game was relatively hard to get for what it offered, now it's okay, the infinite ammo tempts but it's not as good as it seems

There is no reward for S++ all character in the 3 stages. Just did that. But damn those stage records look nice! To get S++ you need to score >1M points. You will need to keep your combo up to >135(ish) and if all enemies are killed and like 2 minutes are still left you could make it. It's a fun experience to achieve, specially with the new Mayhem mode!
I didn't think I would even get a s rank on mercenaries, then I unlocked Krauser and man he is so good with his knife it seems almost OP!
considering the fact that the hand cannon is so incredibly hard to unlock in the main game compared to the pretty much free give-away in mercenaries, makes me think that it could be a bug or something and the devs didnt actually intend for it to be obtainable that way or they had another weapon in mind instead of HC but somehow messed up the coding or the unlock requirements. something definitely isnt right here

I feel like the reward for beating pro with no bonus weapons was supposed to maybe be the PRL or something but they didnt implement it in time
@ichaelis The trophy is for completing professional, no matter the grade. There is another trophy for S+ on hardcore,as it doesn't say "or higher" like the regular completion ones do.I don't know if S+ on professional will get you "S+ rank Investigator" or the one for standard. Either way, S+ on professional is not required for platinum.

I got a A rank on my first professional run, no bonus weapons or costumes were unlocked yet (I got the Typewriter and the Hand cannon in a single run), I ended up with 6:59:59 (one second away from B Rank), which had me pacing around the house for 10 mins or so just trying not to lose my shit LOL.
I am kind of disappointed that they didn't add anything new to unlock for Mercenaries, I love the game mode, but not actually getting anything out of it is pretty saddening tbh
Unlocking the cat ears is without a doubt the hardest thing to do in RE4 remake, I spent about 2 days per chapter in chapter 1-6, once pass that with the Chicago sweeper it was a breeze but I still had to repeat a few chapters after cause of the whole 15 saves or less and 5 hours and 30 mins or below!

Thank you for giving me the encouragement to try to get this weapon. I could never unlock this in the original, so I thought doing Professional would be the way, but I was able to unlock this using Mercenaries.

Irksome how other content creators say professional is "Easy" and assuming every RE gamer can perfect parry, able to do headshots without missing, etc.
yeah me too , I am at the village gate (hardcore) and still don't know how to parry or 'kick' ......the controls dont show me that ...so gotta wait for my son to come home & teach his dad a thing or two. ..& for me , after this video ...I'll teach him how to get the handcanon
They say it's "easy" as in easier than you think because you don't have to parry or headshot anything. You just have to know that running away and repositioning are just as effective in a fight as being a perfect aiming parry god.
@@XZeroOneArmour the game does tell you how to parry and kick, all you gotta do is stagger someone to get the prompt to kick them, and the parry is literally like any other, just press your left front trigger right before the enemy lands his attack, pretty simple

@@XZeroOneArmour I think it also depends what platform your using. Some claims its easier to aim or land a hit on PC than in console.
mercenaries mode is surprisingly easy. I remember not being able to get through a single stage in the original, but its so easy to get an S because of the ultimate attacks your characters can do.
I got the handcannon by abusing krauser in Mercenaries mode. His mayhem mode moment is saved until the bosses arrive, then I do the thrust attack and instant kill them. Other than that I keep running around and use the left bumper knife attacks. He auto dodges if you keep moving and knifing around, and it attacks mad quick doing insane damage. If there’s too many enemies, I get distance and use the Explosive bow, easy S rank for every level
I got it today without even knowing it lmao. Went through the whole game with just the punisher. Striker, stingray, and sub machine gun. It’s all you need and I beat it under 10 hours. I was worried I was using a bonus weapon but realized I didn’t know what the game considers a bonus weapon
Only play the game in vr so had to get used to the normal controls, but only took me about 4 games to get used to it, then first try on the next 2 maps. So happy this method exists
My only gripe about mercenaries is the difficulty. Sometimes it does feel a bit easy after you try it out a few times, it's not a breeze unless you've invested some time into it but I'd also like a tougher challenge without resorting to mods.

I got it within 30 minutes - pretty good weapon - not as powerful as the Broken Butterfly, but still packs a punch - exclusive upgrade grants it infinite ammo

Getting the handcannon in the original RE4 is one the most tedious and frustrating things I've ever endured in all my gaming. Did it on the GameCube twice, did it on the Xbox 360, then PS4, and then Switch. SUPER happy to know that it's much easier this time around. Kinda disappointed that there's no PRL though.

They also added in purchasable exclusives tickets that you can use for the game exclusives upgrades a early as chapter 2. So now I’m doing my professional speed run to get infinite ammo. They also sell for 80k so if ya got a spare $30 you can max out the damage and get an infinite Chicago sweeper and primal knife. The hardest part of the professional speed run has now been made easy.

The hand cannon was always a mercenaries reward so it only makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is to have it as the reward for the toughest thing to do in the game which should have rewarded the PRL412 (iykyk)

Hunk is the byfar the easiest. His TMP hits likes a train, his neck breaker is an instant kill on special enemies and having a solo ammopool is priceless

I do like this option, the thought of doing pro on a fresh save was a bit daunting to me, I love resident evil but I’m not that good with a lot of games so doing the game from scratch on that difficulty was gonna be a challenge for me, I like how they added it in via mercenaries for people who aren’t that good but like you said it’s a bit of a slap in the face to people who put blood sweat and tears into pro new gam
Thanks for posting this. I was afraid I would never be able to get an S Rank in Mercenaries since I never got an S Rank in the original game. Then I saw this video and realized it might be easier than I thought.
All I can say is as soon as I got Krauser getting an S rank is damn near easy.

Feels like they realized virtually nobody would be able to beat Professional Mode unless you gave them every advantage possible.
Beating it in general isn't that bad all things considered but S+ing without cheese is kicking my ass for sure.
@@swampert564 were you trying to unlock Cat Ears (unlimited ammo) and Handcannon at the same time? You only need NG S+ for Cat Ears, Handcannon was beat NG without bonus weapons.
The easiest way was to use Armor Ashley/Chicken Hat/Chicago Sweeper to get the S+ for Cat Ears, then use the Cat Ears to get the Handcannon.
@@Notius Nah, I got the Handcannon awhile ago. Beating Pro without bonus weapons wasn't that hard. I'm trying to get the Cat Ears now without using the strategy where you use an exclusive ticket on the Chicago Typewriter or Ashley's armor. I know I can do it sooner or later and I'm having a good time even if I am failing.

Don't bother using Handcannon. For some reason it's nerfed so Cat Ears + Broken Butterfly would be better for me
still worth it for those who haven't unlocked cat ears yet, makes that s+ run much easier since you can quickly upgrade it to infinite ammo.

I’m glad they went back to this way of getting the hand cannon because it’s the way in the OG resident evil 4 mercenaries BUT if I remember correctly on the OG mercenaries you have to get five star on all levels with all characters.
4 hours of trying and not a single time 200k, the highest was 184k. Yeah, PRETTY EASY
I wondered what is going on when I checked my boni shop but thanks for this video. Was extremely easy to get even s+ on all maps with hunk and krauser. Krauser is defenetly a crazy hack n slay character. When you time his mutation good you can't die. The only thing you need to remember is that you can't open inventory as mutated krauser so only mutate with enough health. I mean there aren't much enemies who can hurt him. But the catapults in the castle level if you haven't destroyed them can be dangerous when you are low health. And with hunk collect a lot Flashbangs use the special boos if you need to collect ammo or for bosses. I cleared all levels with both easily

That feels like a slap in the face for beating professional mode with A rank or higher to get armored Ashley and the chicago type writer to unlock the cat ears. Then play professional again again with the cat ears and no bonus weapons to unlock the handcannon.

They've also added weapon tickets to the store so can get infinite ammo at start for Chicago instead of grinding challenges before chapter 7 therefore saving more time.

To anyone struggling, use Krauser and just use his knife and use the bow and or mayhem on large hordes. I got to almost 500,000 each run easy as pie 😁😊
Anyone trying to run Professional without bonus weapons, do NOT overlook the Bolt Thrower... That weapon is absolutely god tier in pro when it comes to single enemies just hiding in corners. Why waste ammo when you can pick it all back up?! (plus the mines are kinda OP when max leveled considering how cheap they are to craft)

I decided to dive into RE4 & Separate Ways remake after not playing it since beating SW when it released a few months back….when I started a new play through the hand cannon was in my storage & I didn’t even know I unlocked it or I didn’t remember that I did!
I unlocked it om accident just playing mercenaries for my FIRST 3 TIMES, as long as u get a s rank ur fine, and its not hard at all to get in this game with everyones new op abilities
Capcom really missed out by cutting the P.R.L from the remake. Originally, that was unlocked by beating professional difficulty anyways so it would’ve made a whole lot more sense putting that there, that way everyone would have an incentive to play the mercenaries mode. For people that unlocked the handcannon the other way, there’s quite literally nothing to gain from playing it.
I already have cat ears and hand cannon from professional. mercenaries felt to be a joke i S + w all characters on village then just used hunk to finish the rest. Was hoping for prl but it is what it is

You get 2 exclusive rewards in mercenary mode. You gotta score 500k on all stages with all characters to unlock the RDP outfit and the hand cannon as well.
The fact I unknowingly unlocked it before watching this video is hilarious to me I just needed someone to point the way🤣🤣🤣
I unlocked this the other night when mercenaries first came out. If I'm being honest I feel really bad about getting it the cheap and easy way, I would've much rather went through on professional to get it but unfortunately nothing I can do about it now. Hopefully they make it harder to get in the future like the original
