Netflix' The Ultimatum decided to get {a little bit 🌈gay}-----actually A LOT gay. They found 5 queer/sapphic couples willing to put their relationships on the line--AND ON TV! The concept of the show is insane: every couple has one person that gave the other an ultimatum (of marriage). They'll all switch partners like a wlw rodeo, then go back to their OG partners. Finally at the end of the show they'll propose, break up, or propose to someone new.

The fact that Vanessa (whenever she's confronted) is just "I..I don't understand. What do you mean? I don't understand why you're saying that. I'm confused." is both the funniest but also the most infuriating thing to witness.

Well, Lexie is incredibly intelligent and perceptive. She caught things in conversation that would have totally passed me by and I never would have noticed.
I once that that, too. Now, after having watched episodes 5 - 8, I actually find Lexi to be an immature, gaslighting bully. Ick. (hoping she's matured a bit since they filmed.)
I love this show. I’m a straight woman (although Mal and Xander make me think I’m a 1.5 on the Kinsey scale) and this is so much more enjoyable than the straight version was. I think it’s great that they had more partner options, which meant the new couples were more likely to actually be compatible. The drama is more interesting and everyone is more emotionally mature than in the original version. They also picked older people who have been in long term relationships, which makes it all make more sense.

Lexi is my absolute favorite. I wasn’t sure about her at first, but she is so incredibly smart and perceptive!! I feel like usually I’m screaming at the screen for people to not be an idiot, and she’s doing it for me

Xander. I adore her. She refuses to pile-on her “ex” - even when she has reason, she refuses to “spill tea” just ‘cause, and she stays empathetic and compassionate towards others and self. And she’s hot. And I’m straight and married, but crushing. I like Mal, too. And Lexie. And Mal and Lexie together. But mostly I just ADORE Xander.
Was really rooting for Xander and yoli… even a straight gal like me feels that heat
Tbh I think Lexi went SO IN on Vanessa because she cares about Rae (not even romantically but as a close person she knows). She doesn't want to see the person she cares about pick and stay with a shxtty person. That's why Lexi is so hell bent on Vanessa at the table in ep 4. I'm just as protective about my best friends, I'd be going to town too if I found out how fake, self-centered, and manipulative Vanessa is (as well as being on the show for the wrong reasons), yet my bestie is with her. 100% I'd be Lexi.
I want to see Shylo, Zoey, and Margeaux give a confessional about what they think of their humans dating other people. Also, if there are weddings in this show, the dogs had better be part of the wedding.
This has been the best commentary on this show. Mostly because I’ve been watching hetero women react and your just queer joy at this is amazing! I need the commentary on the new episode drops 😂

19:39 I really appreciate your love for Rae! Out of everyone on the cast, she’s the one I relate to the most. I’m an introvert, a bit insecure, not really sure what I want out of life. I’m generally attracted to people who are much more confident and outgoing.
Mildred and tiff reminded me of Sara and Whitney it gives this certain toxic energy that I very much loved on the real L word

I desperately wanted to give Vanessa the benefit of the doubt. Reality TV always needs a villain, and a lot of the personalization comes through editing. But there’s, like, no misinterpreting what Vanessa says. She’s just awful lol
Kind of happy that Lexi and Rae end up breaking up. Lexi is so territorial and her reason for getting pissed about the sex felt like an immature reason to me. She's also so self-involved that she thinks Vanessa did that to get back at her. Like GIRL YOU ARE NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!!
I felt so bad for Rae feeling tormented by Lexi despite the fact that when they discussed this before it was okay with them.
Love your recap, Amanda! Vanessa is a Pandora's box. I have a feeling she's not been loyal to Xander in their relationship.
I thought Tiff was cute but then 🚩🚩I think they thrive on drama, and when it's not there they create it.
Tiff is a huge red flag! She seems emotionally and sexually manipulative towards Mildred and this carried on with Jen because she couldn't communicate properly and effectively over a dog! And blew the situation out of proportion! She kept saying, "lean into love... lean into love..." & ... Chile... she never did! She leaned into impulsiveness.
@@jo-annmahaka truth! I think Mildred and Tiff are toxic for each other. I'm watching Ep 6 as I type and I don't see them having a healthy relationship without a ton of work. EDIT: 17 mins into Ep 6 and I really don't think Tiff and Mildred should be together!

Vanessa is a great villain because she doesn't have to try to be one and clearly Lexi did all the work so they didn't have to portray her as a villain! At first I thought Lexi was pretty and big boobed & then when she showed herself to be intuitive, protective, sensitive and confident enough to stand up to Vanessa her character did so much for me!😂❤ I love Xander & yolly so far (I think Mal couldn't believe that they didn't have issues because deep down, Mal thinks yoly is the issue.), Tiff........... is a lot of work!😂 & I think Jen was putting up with a lot! Despite her feedback to Mildred. there's a lot going on there! Aussie annoys me...

Tiff and Mildred literally make huge blowups out of the tiniest things. Talk about needing toxic love. And Vanessa is just gross. Like Rae is being upset about "cheating" on her partner and Vanessa is just so callous and doesnt care. Like "does she know how beautiful I am?" Sorry but looks dont matter when youre a disgusting person on the inside 🤢

I saw some complaints that the show was too sexual compared to the first season but I would like to announce that I LOVED how specific and intimate the show was! Seeing other queer people in these situations that I been in myself was so dear to my heart and of course its hot too 🔥
Not sure why you dislike Lexi. You must also take her age onto consideration. I get your points but I think you are quite harsh on her, especially calling her speech corny. She seems like a very intense person who really feels and expresses. That’s not a bad thing.

The only reason I could kind of see for leaving the pronouns off is if everyone who’s non-binary came out after the show filmed (August 2021) and they didn’t want to make the rest of the cast look bad for misgendering them. But if that’s the case they could have put that in like “She/Her (as of 2021)” or something, idk.
It’s not impossible, but it does seem unlikely considering I think 4 out of the 10 people are non-binary. I mean Aussie even talks a little bit about gender identity in one of the first episodes, so Aussie was at least already thinking about it. And I noticed someone referred to Tiff with they/them pronouns a few times, but mostly they’ve been referred to using she/her pronouns, which from what I’ve seen online they don’t use.
I should have known better. When I first saw the promo I felt like they were maybe alluding to some cast being gender queer? So I was surprised when I watched and everyone was using she/her with each other. But I just shrugged and I thought surely if there were non binary cast their partners would be respecting their pronouns. I think you’re right though and they came out after filming. The show could have still addressed it somehow imo.

I don't think yall understand Rae. She has very low self esteem, like she couldn't even say anything good about herself which was sad. She didn't say no bc she doesn't love her but she thinks she's not worthy of love which leads to self sabotage. she either needs therapy or needs to take time to find herself
Lexi is also highly emotionally abusive, as we saw throughout the show. Rae definitely deserves better.

As one of said "straights," I can say this show is a hot flippin' mess. Vanessa is a certified villainess. Lexi is a wannabe heroine! And I wholeheartedly hope Yoly(?) ends up with Xander cause they have some serious chemistry!
Isn't it a bit weird that Mal was totally okay with choosing a person 12 years younger than them and never adressing it ? I mean, 24 and 36 is a pretty huge age gap, especially when you talk about marriage.

Thank you so much for these videos which had me laughing so much and have to be honest, I need therapy after watching that show and your videos helped A LOT!!!! But is no one gonna talk about the stainless steal glasses that pop up everywhere and the horrendous music of this show??? AAAAHHHH the music was so hideous. I put it on silent every time it came up and tried to drag me into an emotional fake meltdown.

I didn’t get what you got from Xander. I found them more cagey than authentic. Tiff talked about everyone’s first impression of Xander, which was that they were very “clean cut.” To me, that means Xander is preppy. Xander, Vanessa, and Lexi give privileged vibes. (Is it a coincidence that they are the white participants? I think that’s an unspoken tension, esp in a future scene where it becomes clear that Xander can offer Yoly more finanancial security than Mal can.)
No hate but I really didn’t want Xander to even be in a relationship with Venessa in the first place (she’s so in her own bubble that she doesn’t seem to care about no one els 😐😐😐😐)

lol you make an announcement about mispronouning, but you are calling people masc and butch only from how they dress. I dress like I ride a motorcycle ( because I do ), and I personally HATE being called Butch or Masc, because that also is saying that wearing jeans and a tshirt with a walletchain is only for a MASCULINE person.
