The way Mildred continued to talk over Tiff which was a big thing that Tiff said she needed in order to be heard in the relationship and it really shows Mildred didn’t really learn to stop interrupting her partner.
I don't think Vanessa is as self absorbed as it seems. I think she's just socially awkward and doesn't know how to act in difficult situations. So she's overcompensating by joking and laughing instead of just admitting that she's uncomfortable. I do believe that what she said in the reunion is true.
The way the whole Mildred - Tiff situation was handled was just terrible and a prime example of how it shouldn't be done.
Yoli is sooo manipulative and dishonest. Her behavior was just plain cruel.
At the end of the day, everybody in this cast needs intense therapy and the host needs to be replaced.
I never wanted to myself be at a reunion so bad, what happened to Tiff was so cruel and messed up.
Crazy reunion for a crazy show. Yes I wonder what that atmosphere was like....

I watched Tiffs side on UA-cam and I’m glad I did because as a multi time DV survivor that whole segment triggered my PTSD, and I don’t think she was given a voice when she should have been the only one to have a voice regarding it. Netflix empowered the abuser which pissed me off. I think everyone should watch it. The physical abuse was on going and occurred multiple times and no Tiff did not fight back at any point.
To me, the initial bit of confusion about it all is what triggered me so much, cause my ex almost wife did the same too, even if no one believed her cause it was so clear it was a classic smear campaign.
They really handed it SO FRICKIN BAD.
I think Mal proposed more confidently, knowing Yoly seems to fall in love(or her version of it) in Mal’s words “wherever the grass is watered” and expected the fantasy infatuation would blow over back in reality.
That makes a lot more sense honestly
I watched Mildred with Aussie (Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi) turned to my husband and said, "Mildred waves so many 'abusive spouse' red flags to me." While everyone was having a go at Aussie for their need to get away from Mildred, I was like, "Honey, run. Don't walk, run."
something that i couldn't stand about mildred was the fact she blamed so much of her behaviors on being Hispanic...like what?

For Vanessa, I think that people did not like her because she showed her true intentions (wanting to fuck someone) right from the get go. She was very open and honest about what she wanted to do on a show that is about the opposite. To me, she was not the villain on the show. Annoying yes, villain no.
The villain award goes to both Yoli and Mildred. Especially Mildred. Top Villain of all time to be exact.
I see your points! Certainly she was treated as the villain of the show by the cast and the edit. Also by the fanbase in eps 1-4. I go back and forth but I've rewatched scenes from 1-4 and I think yes she's being super honest but she's also displaying major attention seeking behavior (like mouthing "eff off" to Xander etc). I love seeing people's opinions on Vanessa though she's such a polarizing cast member, as is her arch nemesis Lexi (maybe Vanessa is more of an anti hero than a villain?)
Oh completely agree!!! I never saw Vanessa as the villain just annoying. I thought Lexi was the villain bc of how she bullied vanessa.... while I think yhat...The true villains are freaking yoly and obviously Mildred. Gosh all trash.
I honestly (up until the reunion) see vanessa as a sort of villain. Doesn't matter if she was being shameless about her behaviour, I think she was being manipulative, and weirdly queerphobic/infantilizing to aces as well regarding xander's sexuality. I think she was slain which killed her villain arc. She lost. Now she's passive because she lost Xander. Mildred is ofc on a whole nother level with violence and DV and I still think she's the worst one/biggest villain but I'm just saying I'm still not gonna give Vanessa credit in the early episodes.

She realized that Xander was going to leave and wanted her to stay which is a form of gaslighting and Narsistic. And so many people look at Lexi as the real villain and I think Lexi did go too far but was doing it bc she was hurt. I also think bc she realized she couldn't get what she wanted liks u said she switched up and she had that moment of oh shit I lost Xander. I think the Big Vilians are Mildred and Vanessa

I understand giving ur partner room to grow and explore but, Mal is too damn understanding for me. It’s like she lacks boundaries. I understand for me. I use to be the same and had to go to therapy for my lack of boundaries. Also u got a new sub👍🏾. Ur recaps have been the funniest ones I’ve seen, and it’s good to get a lesbians perspective on the this.
I have to wonder if Mal knew that all they had to do was be patient and understanding and either they would get the girl or look like such a great catch they'd have no problem finding someone else

It bothers me that Vanessa got all the blame for "Fingergate" when it was Rae who led her hand to her V (I believe Vanessa). I don’t think Vanessa is a liar.. she might even be TOO honest.

I was infuriated by the reunion! As a former victim of DV, it hurt my heart when everybody seemed to be comforting Mildred after Tiff left. They should’ve confronted Mildred about the DV, but I think they’re all afraid of her.. same reason why they didn’t escort HER out. 😒
Also, JoAnna was a horrible host! She didn’t do anything to try to control the situation..
IF Mildred were the Masc one and Tiff were the Femme one, this would’ve been treated so differently.. guaranteed. 😒
They def should’ve put up a trigger warning on the screen about DV with a toll-free number to call. Mildred is TOXIC! I realized this when Aussie walked out on her..

Yes! From the beginning- Yoly was 100% sus. And shady AF. She saw Mal with Vanessa, and liked Xander= has it in for Vanessa.
Pretty sure the reason Lexi flipped was because she found out Vanessa was into Rey.
The way she got mad that Vanessa "told" on her messing around with Xander as they were trying to work things out was classless.
IMO- Vanessa was just awkward and trying to seem ok with everything.
About Lexie moving on quickly, wasn't the show filmed quite a while ago? All the clips you see are already pretty old, so it's not like Lexie and Rae broke up recently

I didn’t want tiff and Sam to get together,but it was sorta sad to see some decent communication develop between them in the friendship capacity contrasted with the completely different,unhealthy dynamics in their relationships

To answer your question about possibly blocking the proposal scenes I am 100% sure that this was the case. In fact I am sure quite a lot of direction went into this show and all other reality tv shows. I was in a BBC Madonna document in 2001 about Madonna fans (we were all flown to Barcelona to see the premiere of Madonna's drowned world tour - it was AMAZING!!!) And whilst it was not scripted there were so many things that were slightly contrived and just not true (at one point one fan decides to camp out all night in front of the stadium to be front row the next day - she says to the camera: "I am so cold and hungry but it's all worth it". Actually they brought her food and drinks all night...) And that was the BBC!!!! So I cannot imagine what they do for these reality tv shows. It wouldn't surprise me if they asked Yoly to meet Xander without the engagement ring on and they probably asked them to hug one more time just to build up tension... maybe that's why Xander gets a bit annoyed at the end "You got enough!!!" They felt they were being milked and they were!!!
Yolie lied and disrespected Mal. Of course she is upset.

This show, I tell ya....wow! I don't think any of the couples should be together after this. Talk about life-changing. Most of them need individual therapy let alone couple therapy. I was shocked Mal proposed. Yeah, this reunion was so intense & not fair to Tiff, at all. I just wanted to reach in my tv & hug them. Netflix did not treat these individuals right, in my opinion.

Idk about everyone but I believe Tiff chose the location for the proposal. I believe it was the place Tiff took Mildred when they first met

Amanda I agree with you 100%. I was horrified by the way Mildred’s violence towards Tiff was handled by Netflix. If Mildred had been a man, the host would not be saying nice things towards the violent person about them still searching for and believing in love. Just because violence is done by a woman, doesn’t make it any less horrendous. The host also should not have allowed Mildred to be so disrespectful and horrible to Tiff during the reunion, she should have been pulled up on that. Mildred should not be going anywhere near another romantic relationship until she has had extensive help, completed anger management and anti-violence courses etc.

Hollywood quite literally does not understand DV within the queer community. I can share a bit of my experience as a screenwriter: I've written a couple of projects that explore themes of DV between women/GNC folks, which have included some pretty explicit violent scenes (because I know that unless it's explicit, it'll fly right over the vast majority industry peoples' heads). The executive notes that I've received have ranged from offensively stupid comments like, "From the logline we're led to believe this story is about DV but upon reading, this story seems not to have anything to do with DV at all and feels like with a few structural changes you could make this a rom-com, or at least a dramedy, which would be much easier to market," to downright terrifying comments such as, "You've included a trigger warning for scenes of violent abuse and SA, but I've read through the whole script and there are no scenes which include this sort of content. No audience is going to be upset about violence if you keep the script as is, so I think you can remove the trigger warning. Or if you want to write a violent script then write in some actual violence."
And no, in case you wondering, not all of these kinds of notes have come from men 😑
So...suffice to say that I am surprised about absolutely none of how this show framed Tiff & Mildred in the finale. Horrifying nonetheless.

I might be in the very minority here, but I loved Vanessa (especially after episode 10!) and in my eyes then I feel that Lexi is the most toxic "I need to the be lesbian center of attention" villain in the show, and feel was the one who orchestrated the whole group drama against Vanessa

Unpopular opinion: I think Lexi was frustrated that Vanessa was a fraud but she was still attracted to her and wanted to sleep with her. And was jealous that Rae got to.
Oooh this is interesting….well she did say she wouldn’t have cared if Rae hooked up with Yoly so….
Lexi rejected Vanessa. Vanessa was completely into Lexi and Mal, both wanted nothing to do with her when they saw her intentions were not genuine. I don’t think Lexi had any jealousy over wanting to be with Vanessa. She was very clear what her issues were. She may not have handled everything correctly but she’s still only 24 and despite how mature she may think she is, she’s still very young and learning. Viewers keep forgetting that Rea told Lexi she would not be intimate with Vanessa, she made this promise on her own. So, when she broke that promise Lexi had a hard time dealing with that betrayal. Then you add in the fact that Vanessa basically did this just to do it. She had no feelings for Rea, she had no plans to see where this relationship may go or if something would develop. Can you really blame Lexi for being so bothered by this? She didn’t want someone that she loved being used by someone that she knew wasn’t here for the right reasons. I think a lot of the criticism Lexi gets is a little harsh, I believe she deserves a little bit but I think people forget how they would feel if their partner was put in a situation like this. They were there to figure their stuff out, Vanessa was there to play. Ultimately, I do think Vanessa woke up a little bit and learned a few things but that doesn’t erase that she walked into this the way she did.

I see so many people blaming Lexi and I'm like did u guys watch everything. I agree I think Lexi could have handled it in a different way which is her downfall however she was coming from a place of hurt.
I wrote that in another comment yesterday bc people we being mean. In my eyes, it's like a parent relationship. What I mean is Lexi is like that parent that sees their kid Rae date someone or sleep with someone who isn't there for good intentions and while yes Rae is an adult and consents you still want to be there and protect ur kid and make them make the right decisions.

Mal is so obvious, I'm unclear as to why everyone is obsessed with her. Yoly was CLEARLY over their relationship and Mal could tell. Mal CLEARLY also didn't want to get married to her from the start so, why did she propose? Mal's friend even called her out for acting a certain way to make everyone love her, and she loves it when everyone loves her so... Mal isn't a bad person but, she's so obvious with everything she's about.
As a Capricorn, I heard we get along amazingly with Virgos but, after seeing what Mal is like... I would never be friends with someone this lowkey pathetic. I love strong individuals who are honest and not afraid to NOT kiss everyone's ass and be well-liked by people who don't deserve our time.
Naw, Vanessa still sucks! At the reunion, I feel like she was trying to play the victim at the reunion because once she saw how she came off on the show, she needed to save herself. People feel for her act.
