      Hello Randy. I am a new user of forscore and I have practically no experience so far. I am wondering if the metronome in Forescore can sync with apple watch (or Soundbrenner) and give me haptic tempo in the watch? It would be great to have the tempo buzzing on the arm wrist for count in the same second the pdf appear on the screen. Thanks / Per C (Sweden)

    Hi Randy. Thanks for your presentation. I discovered the software with your video a few months ago and I've been using it since. Your explinations are straightforward and cover all the basic utilities that one needs to get started. Your review is also well balanced between the pros and cons. Awesome software. Concerning the pedal I should've listened to you though. Purchased another model and well, for the moment, I got to get use to it. Anyway thanks again.

      Hey Pierre, thanks so much for the kind words! It's really nice to hear that it comes across balanced. I like talking about things that I already like, so sometimes it's tough to bring some real cons to the table. Out of curiosity, what pedal did you end up getting?

    • @lepiedrouge
      @lepiedrouge 3 роки тому

      @@randyrektor Hi again Randy. Thanks for the feedback. Concerning the pedal, I got the AirTurn PEDpro. It's compact, works right out of the box and is real easy to use. But I wonder if I'm missing the feeling of pushing a real pedal, which you don't have on that model. It's more like 2 buttons. I use it mainly when I play clarinet and tenor sax and from what I've tried, the main problem I have, is that sometimes my foot misses the buttons. Or my foot doesn't seem to be at the right place at the right moment or not centered enough. Which is quite annoying when I'm waiting for that half page to arrive and it doesn't. But hey, maybe I just have to take some more time and find the best way to use it. I also probably tend to move too much when I play but that's hard not to do ! Anyway I'm not discouraged yet. But if it's a dead end for me, I'll definitely go for an AirTurn model with real pedals.
      All the best. Pierre

    I use forScore to control my BeatBuddy by midi commands. I initially used the midi commands screen but prefer to use buttons to control, tempo, select sng file, start Intro, Outro, it can also send midi commands to synths I’m using i.e. configured in AUM. I created preset used to select the BB Sng file, outro slow down, tempo decrease.
    You didn’t mention use of book marks and creating index template spreadsheet, CSV files.

    I’m considering trying forscore. Since a lot of sheet music is larger than an ipad screen can the scores be enlarged for greater readability? It would be hard to play from if the music is much tinyer and at a distance. I’m an organist and the music racks are always quite high up above the keyboards and at a distance.

    I send midi to my Roland BK7M accompaniment module. Under Program Change there are four boxes. I load 13 into the first box, 122 into the second box, these are defined by Roland. Then box three and four are the number of the program I want activated in my module. So when I hit the foot pedal, the sheet music changes, and the midi module jumps to that song's accompaniment. It makes it so I can play one song after another without stopping. Very cool.

    Thanks. Just one clarification: you will not save any battery with a black screen. A black screen helps on AMOLED screens, but at the moment all iPads have an LCD screen that doesn't care whether the background is black or white (the backlight works the same in both cases). But what affects the battery consumption is the screen brightness.

    As for the turtle and the rabbit - this is a useful and convenient feature that I constantly use. It allows you to adjust the sensitivity to swipes when zooming and moving your fingers on the screen. I usually set the value in the middle first, and use the turtle (minimum value) for the final and precise fit.

    Hey Randy, this video is great! Thank you!!
    I’m in the early stages of converting my notebooks of hand scribbled paper transcriptions with reinforced, punched holes to electronic for use forScore. It appears to be robust and do what I need. It’s also the app used by others in my band, so it’s a keeper. Thanks to this video, I’ve got a much better understanding of the functionality and how to use it.
    I’m wondering if you might have a tip of organizing my libraries...

    I’ve used the basic functionality with a small number of pdf’s in my studio. I’m also familiar with setting up set lists which will be helpful for gigs. (At gigs, I mostly use documentation for cues to get started and otherwise play from memory.) Although my band mates use forScore, they have different needs from mine.
    I’m the drummer in the band. I’m learning to sing while drumming and hope to be able to contribute vocals to the band in the future. I will have specific needs during rehearsals and practice sessions. Here’s my scenario…
    For each song, I’ll have a drum chart. For some, I will have a drum chart and lyrics (if I already know the song). For others, I’ll have the drum chart and sheet music or chord chart (for songs I’m still learning). For a few, I may have two or more chord charts (the key may vary if I’m singing lead or backup).
    How do I best load these options into a library(s)? I believe I can make 1 long pdf with all the different documents related to one song. This approach might be a challenge when I need to reference a drum chart and lyrics. (I could use 2 tablets…) I could create a different ‘song’ for each document - Layla drums, Layla sheet music, Layla lyrics, etc. That would create a library with 1200 ‘songs’ for the 400 tunes I’d like to load. Can you suggest a better way to set up my libraries to deal with this need?
    TY!

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Sue, good to hear from you! I personally lean towards option 2. I have some charts that are “Layla Dm” “Layla Em” etc etc. another option would be to create libraries with different types of scores. You could have “Piano Vocals” “Drum Scores” “lead sheets” and navigate to the appropriate library depending. One concern with that is I don’t think you can make setlists with cross-library functionality. Hmmm. Maybe your second option is the cleanest way to do it.

    Hiya, you answered my last question amazingly, thank you. I have another and I hope it makes sense. When I started using forScore I didn’t create a library, I just used the ‘All libraries’ tab for everything. I now want to create 3 library’s for different instruments. Is there a way I can transfer the scores with all the metadata inputted, into a separate library? I created an archive and back up and then imported all the scores into one of the new libraries but this didn’t bring Any of the metadata with it. Do you have any advice? Thanks

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  3 роки тому

      Hey Kate, I believe that if you open up a score, click on the title to open the metadata tab, down at the bottom in the list of tabs you should see “libraries” and I believe it will allow you to choose which libraries that score shows up within (metadata and all). It’s a bit manual as you’ll have to go through one by one. I’m not sure if there’s another way around it. Check with the ForScore Users Group on Facebook. They usually have an answer for everything, it seems :) hope this helps!!

OnSong is better if you have text files you want to be able to edit. QUESTION: Is it possible to transfer PDF from a computer to forScore on the iPad Pro?

    • @randyrektor
      @randyrektor  3 роки тому

      Hey John, there are a couple of ways to do this. The quickest way would be to AirDrop the PDF to your laptop and open it into ForScore.
      Another option would be to link your dropbox account. This is what I do. It means you can browse dropbox from within ForScore and pull charts in as needed.
      Another option would be to upgrade to ForScore Pro ($13/year) which will allow you to mirror your FoScore from one device to another. This means any updates on one will show up on the other.
      Hope this helps!

      This can happen when there are sync issues with iCloud (sometimes happens when installing/uninstallling). Try navigating to the ForScore folder with the Files app (Files - On My iPad/ForScore) - your music should be in this folder.
