Thank you Steven. Please keep informing on this issue. Middle-aged women are suffering and nobody cares. We are invisible to the society but we must keep up the expectations of beauty, success and hard work that are put on us...
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😐
No one expects beauty from a 40 year old woman
Perimenopause is horrible🥺 glad to see more conversations about it.
Thanks for this. I hope your male followers will watch/listen. I feel females need to learn more, but need the understanding and support of partners (male or females).
I'm so pleased that you're covering this. I had no idea that the effects would be soooo dreadful. Literally NOBODY warns you how dramatically your health can deteriorate due to falling hormone levels. Thanks Stephen.
Thank you for this. Perimenopause has been a terrible experience for me so far.
Mine came with chronic debilitating migraines, but it started to taper off with my periods, and they are rarely a problem for me now.
This video was so helpful. Im 47 and am in peri menopause. I feel like a crazy person! Hot flashes, night sweats, horrible odor( that I NEVER had), shower daily and bath three times a week because of this new weird odor, brain fog, depression and anxiety ( that I NEVER had), vertigo, crying spells, mood swings, insomnia, facial hair (also NEVER had). Don’t have a partner and haven’t been sexually active in a really long time. Im terrified to meet someone and become sexually active again not knowing if everything will still work the same, and feeling like I won’t be as desirable. This is absolutely a horrid experience. I’m to embarrassed to talk about it with anyone so I just suffer in silence.
Please update your title to include Dr. Mary Claire Haver. This woman has changed so many lives. I’m so happy you have her as a guest.
I started menopause at 49. I didn’t have hot flashes. The weight gain started creeping up at age 53 and it’s all around my stomach. I’ve discovered Fasting and that seems to be the only thing that helps with the weight gain.
I am 75 and have been on natural hormone replacement for 15 years. I am still a vibrant very active person in body, mind, spirit. I use bio-identical estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. All doctor prescribed. So if you can find a good doctor I would say try it out. I was told there are precautions if you have a history of breast cancer in your family with too much estrogen. So find a professional who knows their stuff.
The problem is to find a good one.
Can you give us the contact info of yours, please?
I’m healthy, no chronic conditions, no high BP, no osteoporosis…I’m energetic..I’m 81….took hormone therapy until I had Breast C and that was it, no more hormone. There are natural ways to stay healthy without drugs. No mention is ever made about natural health and how to maintain it (daily exercise, healthful diet with minimum or no processed foods)… everything is about DRUGS. This is such crap.
Could you share your doctor and city and state?
I am a bio-identical hormone therapy specialist in S. Florida with 25 years of experience. I highly recommend STOPPING estradio and progesterone transdermal therapy at 70 years old because of the increase in breast cancer due to age alone. Of the 5 patients of mine who were on hrt and diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, 4/5 were over 68 years old. Please have your blood levels tested twice a year, get a mammogram and sonogram yearly and please, please report any vagiinal bleeding to your gyn🙏
I understand that this video is about menopause, but seeing as she brought up sperm, it's important to mention that the quality of male sperm starts to decline between the ages of 35-40. The chances of a child being born with disabilities increase with the father's age when beyond that age bracket. Stating that men constantly produce "fresh" sperm can be misleading and might lead men into thinking that their fertility isn't affected by age and that the entire burden falls on a woman, which simply isn't true. I say this as a man who couldn't father children because of male fertility issues that come with age. It's more common than you think.
Yes. This is another issue that most folks are unaware of and needs to be talked about a lot more.
Good point. Now 68, vasectomy in my 20s, never wanted kids. Today, I have same testosterone level I had in my 20s, thanks to daily oral supplements.
Sure glad I was not born a girl.
@@user-ly4sq5uc5fbeing a man seems horrific!! so grateful I'm not a man ❤
Thank you both; what I suffered was horrid. Women need this info now & to protect our daughters & granddaughters future to enjoy life to the fullest
That WW comment floored me!!!
Thank you for this. Please could you bring on a PMDD expert? Women's health really needs to be talked about more openly.
The one hormonal disorder that most doctors know absolutely nothing about, even though you tell them you KNOW you have it, yet they look at you blankly. 😢
Most doctors are happy to say it’s peri / menopause.. but then they seem to think that makes it ok. They have an answer for why the new symptoms are there. - but have no solution to offer. 🤷♀️
Keen to listen.
I see menopause as an initiation into the next faze of life. In a culture that is obsessed with remaining young l happily embrace my crone. Menopause is a vital initiation to becoming an elder in our society.
With all due respect, I think the terminology some use to describe women in menopause can be problematic and exacerbate the negativity we endure. Referring to women as “crones” is not conducive. By definition, the word ’crone’ is “an old woman who is cruel, thin and ugly.” If we seek to change the paradigm of thinking about women in menopause, let’s start with how we define ourselves.
I am African and that is exactly the case.
@@crazysexymenopause my definition of crone is the embodiment of wisdom and experience.
@@treewiseblood7911 Thank you for the clarification and that’s admirable! I never would have known that had I not made the comment. I’m not sure anyone else would have known this either! One love ❤️
I understand that. For me I agree totally accept but don't want feel like shit the few years that still left of life🤷🏻♀️
BHRT saved my life! If you have been made afraid to take BHRT, do a deeper dive! You may find the old studies were not done properly or the conclusion was incorrect. My symptoms were so severe that I would have been willing to take the “risk” anyway. It truly gave me my life back and like someone else here mentioned, the carnivore diet (no carbs, no sugar, yes animal fat) was the finishing touch! I feel better at 55 than I did at 45! Incredible and wish I had started BHRT at 40!
Hey 👋 what’s b hrt? Thanks
@@sugarsnap1000 Bioidenticle Hormone Replacement Therapy.
thank you for posting! i am in the struggle phase and this is very encouraging :)

'Why does this happen?' The big 'Why?'. A trillion dollar question, but in relation to which part? Menstruation, Peri and Post, even Pregnancy, the way our bodies are constantly (and expected to be) depleted and how this effects our ability and cognitive functions is wild.
Oh wow! Just this clip has been so impactful: While watching it, I've been able to reflect on my journey and look ahead to see what I need to change to accommodate for my goals and aspirations. Authoritative information on women's health is so rare. Thank you, thank you for shining a light on it!
Iam glad that Perimenopause is being talked about more. From my experiences of Perimenopause I learned that symptoms experienced are a stress problem rather than a hormone problem. This is because the stress system which is adrenal glands, take over production of making hormones. Stress can affect hormone production when ovaries stop. There is more to consider than just hormone therapy. It doesn’t address adrenal gland weakness, digestion issues, what foods to eat, what you put on your skin, emotional trauma, weak liver, brain communication to the body. You create a new body in menopause and if you take out the stress and strengthen your body, eat the right foods and supplements, especially herbs, you can feel good because I did it with no BHRT 12:10
Thank you so much. I'm 80. Went thru 3 mos of UTI's. Dr doesn't believe in estrogen. Time to get another Dr. Enough of this pure torture. You're a lifesaver
When doctors say ' I don't believe in ____' it usually means they do not know anything about that particular topic. So absolutely get another doc. Recurrent UTIs are no joke, they can progress to sepsis or kidney infection
I have vertigo, tinnitus, frozen shoulder, fatigue and abnormal menstrual cycles and I am 50 years old yet of my 5 specialist not one of them has questioned me on any of it….wtf
Totally relate!! I had it all. Frozen shoulder, I was sent to a physiatrist, first I had ever heard of a physiatrist. He prescribed a bunch of NSAIDs and other meds. Did nothing for my frozen shoulder. I did my research, started using the bioidentical estradiol patch and progesterone pill and everything went away. Hot flashes, severe insomnia, muscle aches, frozen shoulder, high blood pressure all gone with HRT.
This video focuses so much on the problems associated with perimenopause; menopause; etc. But there is no mention about the importance of practicing self-care.; getting regular exercise; eating nutrient-dense diet; etc. Not all women put on weight, during that stage of their life, and have all the horrible symptoms. And your mental health doesn't have to decline if you take care of yourself. I exercise daily and practice Yoga and meditation. I also eat healthy; etc. I understand that not everyone is into healthy living. But it's never too late to start taking a better care of yourself to improve the quality of your life, whatever your age is.
Thank you for shedding light on this topic.
I am 62 ! Had a hysterectomy at 28 due to problems. Thank so much
I'm a man over 55 and I can tell you every woman I've ever known who was compelled to get a hysterectomy their lives were practically destroyed you have my sympathy and I hope that you find ways to truly enjoy your life
❤
I’m almost 62. Had a hysterectomy at age 43 and it was the best day of my life. Spent half my life suffering from horrible periods and heavy bleeding and horrific mood swings and anemia. Hysterectomy revealed a bad case of endometriosis. I take no hormone replacement and I feel GREAT. All my problems disappeared with my uterus and ovaries. I didn’t get depressed, I didn’t get fat, my hot flashes disappeared after 2 months, I sleep like the dead, my mood swings are gone….my only regret is not having the hysterectomy SOONER.
@@1o1carolina53, thank you for understanding. Us women appreciate it!
@@1o1carolina53no one is just “compelled” to get a hysterectomy. It’s not like you just wake up and think to yourself, “y’know what, I really fancy having a major abdominal surgery!”. It’s always because you are left between a rock and a hard place, with no other good option. It is a last resort decision, made through desperation and a lot of consideration. Personally speaking, I had a good outcome.
Thank goodness your talking about what we are experiencing!! It’s so beyond that women are being ignored about this stage that is happening to each woman?? I was told I need to get more sleep and quit coffee + it’s impossible that I’m on in peri menopause because I’m not having hot flashes. Ummm no! My symptoms: Hair Loss, exhaustion that hurts, brain fog, joint pain, blood loss anemia. OBGYN Appointment hope to get on hormone therapy.
Thank u for posting this. I started going thru the change over 4 years ago. I went to a doctor then , and was completely invalidated. I was told what I was experiencing was not anything . I found a female gyno, got specific tests done and was told the opposite. Yes it was true I was going thru the beggining stages. I have had more issues 4 years later, bone disease and more. Through this process, I gain more knowledge and understanding. Thank u
I reversed all of my awful perimenopausal symptoms by cutting plants out of my diet, especially grains. No more night sweats, no more unpredictable, horribly painful periods, no more feeling annoyed at everyone and everything constantly. I've lost weight, built muscle and I feel amazing. Sounds crazy but it's worked for me.
Me too! I started to have these awful aches and pains , i was 52 and felt 82. Went carnivore 2 months later aches completely gone. Oh and brain fog has disappeared. I just got a new job. Very mentally and technically difficult. I literally couldnt have done it 12 months ago. I feel sooo much younger.
Is there a specific diet you use? Would like to know more
@@sugarsnap1000 Just eating animal products. So meat and fish, and dairy and eggs if you can tolerate them, using lard, tallow, butter or ghee to cook in. It's basically an elimination diet and it's important to eat enough fat especially for women because our hormones need fat. You can reintroduce foods one by one if you want to once you are feeling good again and see how you go.
Protein and fat are satiating and you won't constantly feel hungry like you did before unless you have leptin resistance (I did but I fixed that by having 3 meals a day at set times with absolutely no snacking in between and it soon normalised). You'll need around 450g/1 pound of meat daily but your body may want more initially if you have deficiencies. Some people only eat once a day but women do better on 2-3 meals. It's also better for protein absorption to eat smaller amounts more frequently.
Don't be afraid to generously salt your food with a mineral salt (not normal table salt). Pink salts are good to use. You may need electrolytes initially but they aren't readily available in my country so I just drink milk which is basically an electrolyte drink. You can make your own also and there are recipes online.
It can take awhile to become fat adapted and I would transition slowly from your old diet to your new one, cutting out foods one by one over a period of 4-6 weeks. Otherwise you can get what is known as the Keto flu. I'm about 5 months in and I'm building muscle without doing any more physical exercise than I was doing before. Old injuries have healed, inflammation is reduced. I initially lost a bit of weight, put most of it back on, and it's only been recently that I've started losing again but that's normal, especially for women. Your body prioritises healing before weightloss.
I've honestly never been able to improve my fitness no matter what I tried eating in the past. 'Going carnivore' might seem crazy but it's working for me in so many ways.
Amazing 👌🏽 thanks for sharing 👍🏼
That's amazing!! Congrats!!
the system is ran by and for men. We just need to step it up for women.
Excellent information
Perimenopause nearly killed me because I had extreme periods and an undiagnosed condition, adenomyosis, which also caused anaemia to the point that I was fainting, flooding and in terrible pain.
What would have helped:
Doctors should check every 5 years if their patients have abnormal bleeding / pain - a few questions and a blood test is all it would take, this could lead to an earlier diagnosis. My periods were bad enough but I had over ten years of hell around my 40s because I wasn't diagnosed. 1/10 women has adenomyosis so if a third of the world's population is perimenopausal, 280 million women might suffer like I did, lets change that
I agree! I suffered for years and only found out I had adenomyosis after a hysterectomy due to a prolapsed uterus. My doctor always dismissed my symptoms as being “normal” and just what women go through. I am so thankful I no longer have to deal with it but it should have been addressed much, much sooner.
@@karenkilba2907 I know, I'm sorry you went through this. And its not helped by the fact that friends/peers/ doctors etc don't seem to have a clue about what a heavy period vs extreme period is so its like we're gaslighted and regarded as drama queens.
I see pri post menopause as a spiritual transformation. I do trauma healing, go to the sauna, have a massage, run, meditate, walk in nature and don’t work. It’s becoming a wise elder.
THAT is how it's done ❤
You must be very wise to have figured out a way to not have to work at all. Either that or you come from money or found a sugar daddy/rich husband. Most people just work until they die or are consigned to the "Palliative Care" ward.
Thank you Steven
Thanks for this….. important topic
I’m 39 and I cannot walk. I have been bedridden for seven days now I feel like killing myself. I have the worst knee arthritis and I just hate it. It’s unfair well women have to go through we don’t get a freaking break. Everything went to shit when I turned 39
Consider hot sauna as you get HRT and get your mineral levels and bone density checked.
Have you tried a collagen supplement? That’s helped my arthritis. I also find that the arthritis is cyclical, so it tends to feel slightly better at different times of the month. Please stick with it and know that you are not alone. Sending healing vibes ❤
Look up Alex Howard (optimum health clinic). Arthritis can be an autoimmune problem, inflammation etc..
Diet change to carnivore
I hope you are feeling better. I had cancer in uterus and had to have everything removed. I only have a va-jj left.
Took four years to even out. If you are having inflammation, you may want to get vit D checked.
Thank you!!!!!!
Good clip great to make clear on each stage and WW term no surprise on how embedded in mainsteam medicine the dismissal of women is
I’m 64 been on hormone replacement pellets for 8 years….. I would not go back to pre-pellets time…. It was awful
Wow! Wow..wow..wow! Thaaaaaank you!!!!
The truth of menoPAUSE, is that it’s not necessary unless you want it to be necessary. I told myself a few years ahead of time that it was NOT NECESSARY. And it wasn’t. A few hot flashes in the first months. That’s it. The mind is the power. 🌹
???????? What????
@@robinmeekins1400 yep. 🌹
It’s a mindSet. Set it.
this is so so important to talk about, and WW .. oh boy :\
The number one reason women do not flow through menopause is diet, nutrition and environmental. We are a society that is malnourished and we are being poisoned daily by toxins that are hormone disrupters. That is the canary in the coal mine. Trying to feel better with hormones is a risky endeavor. We humans always wanting a quick fix. Unable or unwilling to make sure we are eating non toxic and avoiding environmental overloads. We still want our toxic food and beauty products. All these chemicals in our creams, perfume 100% are hormone disrupters.
Yes. We need to talk more about this. Women who are actively trying to address the nutrition and environmental factors for women, like _The Wellbeing Sisters_ in the UK, are struggling to get the backing needed.
This is so frustrating 😢😢😢😡
Stephen and team maybe balance this with talking to a naturopath?

If someone have the same issue like me please let me know what you do about perimenopause and menopause if :
You have endometriosis
You have an hysterectomy but still have you ovaries
You know that estrogen can worse endometriosis but still want choose HRT
Queen ♥️
It become a real problem because of change of lifestyle.. too much stress as women manage the house, job and kids, commuting.. the contraceptive pill also is big culprit in those horrible physical and mental disturbances.. last but not least the food is no longer natural .. mostly junk and highly processed !
What should we do about premenopausal period?
I think of womanhood as what they call her "mother nature".
We have to adapt & cope with what she brings..good & bad etc.
When she is upset & when she is calm etc.
Mother Earth is special & womanhood is as it.
idk lol
I am 52 and had endometrial ablation 2009. How do I know I am in menopause or through it without the traditional period I havent had since then?
Hi. Same deal with me. I had an ablation at about 48. I am now 59. I worked out I was in menopause because I started to get night sweats and hot flushes during the day when I turned 56. That’s when I went to a doctor to request HRT. They did a blood test to confirm hormone levels consistent with menopause.
I love that you’re a man bringing attention to this issue for both men and women to understand but please, she’s Dr. Mary Claire Haver, not Mary Claire Haver.
I have major aches and pains. My Mother didn't have any. She was on hormone replacement most of her life due to a hysterectomy when she was 35yrs. I'm 61yr is it too late for me?
Not to late ,you can still have it.
I was told I can't do HRT after 3 years of doing it. Breast Cancer risks etc.
I will take a small risk of breast cancer over my life before HRT. 2 hours slerp a night, brain fog so bad i thought i had had a stroke. Try a different gp.
It baffles me how length of life (future) seems to be more sought after than quality of life (now)
Now is all we have.
Would it be a legality / liability issue more than a genuine care for wellbeing?
✌️
@@mollydooker9636 I agree but I don’t have any of those symptoms.. i am fairing pretty well . I am now 10 yrs past. Started at 45. I do believe that our body systems do need estrogen though, so I fear what is happening to my brain.. heart and joints/ bones etc
I had my son die and my mom die in 2015 I stopped my period for good a year later I had severe joint and muscle pain I thought it was severe depression they Put me on anti-depressants and sent me to the rheumatologist. I did not have rheumatoid arthritis so they gave me a Phibro my algia diagnosis now that I hear this I think it was menopause for sure. I had no idea I thought menopause was night sweats that’s all Womens talked about they never talk about anything else it was like a secret.

I wonder about kids now with girls starting periods at 10 .. it means no eggs by 30 basically so perimenopause and menopause by 40 maybe even 35 .. thanks to diet and environmental crap

lol, I already knew what it was going to be before I went to the time stamp. I assumed it would pertain to our ability to have children and I was right! My point being- we already know. We are told directly and indirectly our entire lives. It’s not that we “don’t want to hear it”.
