@@doggerlander TRUTH YO. Eastern-style clothing is something else apparently.
they just don't even try to look good, the swag naturally comes out
ISSF doesn't enforce dress codes much for these world cup level matches. Casual comfy, nothing controversial, is 👍.
However, for the Olympic games, they have to wear uniforms that represent their respective nations.
18:15 the female commentator wondered why some of the Chinese shooters didn't cover up the non-aiming eye with a Blinder like other shooters are doing. As a retired Olympic/ NRA bullseye shooter, I can explain why. It's all about eye dominance. Some people are born with strong eye dominance in one eye to the point that their strong side that they use to aim the pistol with won't pick up 2 distinctive images of the sights, whereas for others, their eye dominance is not so bias to one particular side. So, for these shooters (I'm one), they'll see 2 images of the same sights when both eyes are open.
You can develop eye dominance easily and quickly, I developed it in 3 months and it's way easier to see the environment BUT shooting from the left shoulder is significantly harder now.
@Szczur01 you must be an anomaly because eye dominance is not trained but inherent. It has something to do with the physical structures of the eye itself. You're always going to have one side stronger than the other side. The dominant eye will be the eye that will see things clearer and fatigues less over the duration of the match, which can last for hours. I myself am a trained ambidextrous shooter; I'm born a southpaw, but I can and do compete in ISSF and NRA bullseye competitions with either hand - one hand, unsupported. For the sake of better recoil control and shot recovery, I use the eye that coincides with the hand I am using, i.e., left eye for left hand and right eye for right hand, when shooting one-handed. I am cross eye dominant, meaning that I'm born a southpaw, but my right eye is the dominant one. Throughout the course of the match, I noticed that my left eye, the weaker side, loses focus on the front sight over time, whereas my right eye, the dominant eye, sees the front sight sharply throughout. FWIW.
@@willywonka4340 I totally agree with you, what I meant by "developed" was that when I was a beginner in terms of shooting guns I was still right eye dominant, but the sight picture was double and unclear and I couldn't filter out the left eye's sight picture. Basically it's easy to learn to shoot with both eyes open.
@@willywonka4340 And as for training the other eye/hand, I haven't done that yet
@@szczur0192 @Szczur01 I'm glad it works out for you, shooting with both eyes open.
This is preferred method if you're only training for a two-handed defensive shooting at a very, very close range at a big target ( minute-of-man, if you will), like in a gunfight, for obvious reasons. You need to be aware of your surroundings and not get tunnel-visioned.
However, in a static precision sport which demands pinpoint accuracy at long distances, like Olympic ISSF, NRA bullseye, or even 25 to 50 yards shots in Bianchi action pistol matches, having both eyes open is detrimental to your score.
How so?
Allow me to explain.
When you shoot with both eyes open, through training, your dominant eye picks up the aligned sights just fine. But your other eye, when not closed or occluded, will inadvertently pick up the target/bullseye from the perspective that's 3 to 4 inches off to one side and form an overlapping image. This creates a parallax that could shift your point of impact of about 6 to 8 minutes of angle, sideways. That amounts to about 1.5 to 2 inches group drift at 25 yards and about 4 inches drift at 50 yards.
You can test this out yourself if you like. :-)
Get a Red Dot scope mounted Ruger 22 rifle (all serious shooters have one of these 😆). Shoot it off a bench rest at 50 yards. First, shoot a group with both eyes open. Then, shoot a second group with one eye closed. You will notice your group has shifted about 3 to 4 in side-to-side. Your results may slightly vary depending on how far apart your eyes are, lol.
As you can see, this is the reason why Olympic pistol and NRA bull's-eye shooters use blinders / occluders: to avoid overlapping images by blocking out the other non aiming eye. Though, I doubt most even realize that the group will shift if you go back and forth with the other eye open or closed. That shift is the difference between an x- ring Bullseye shot and a 7-ring. I've never had this important bit of information revealed to me, nor have I seen anyone out there even noticed this. I found this out the hard way twenty-odd years ago when I was shooting Bianchi Cup matches and was wondering why I was having lateral group clusters, which cost me the X count. And it happened again when I was competing in Bullseye matches and wondering why my shots weren't in the middle of the bullseye when I swear I called the shot dead center and it wasn't. Then it occurred to me that I was not consistent with whether to have both eyes open or one eye closed.
As for others who are reading this, try this out yourself! Have fun with the experiment! LOL
It’s all fun and games until someone gets mad that they did bad

A short interview of the competitors describing their equipment and ammo would make the video more interesting (to me anyway). They should also recite the rules, diameter of the bullseye, etc., and have multiple cameras to show bullet strikes. The thrill and agony thing.
Yeah. Would be much better.
Bullseye is 100mm (just under 4") and in the final strings you have 4 seconds to shoot them from 45 degree 'low ready'.....
They are allowed 'bare' eyes because the chances of a ricochet or splash-back are about zero. Triggers must be at least 1kg pull weight (that's 2,2 lbs) only open sights are permitted and the range is 25 metres (which is 27 1/2 yards near enough).
It's a rather difficult discipline to master, and as you can see the pistols in this class have become very specialised. There are events for 'sport pistols' too..... and the slow fire stages have a 2" bullseye....
Better to shoot than to watch. I did a bit of slow fire with a single shot Russian Drulov pistol, which I wish I still had.... it was very accurate, although the trigger was much lighter than those allowed now... it was a 'set' trigger with a release weight of just an ounce or so.... it fired at the proverbial 'dirty look'..... very easy to be accurate with a trigger like that.
I got into IPSC and 3-gun, which for me was more enjoyable... but yeah that little Drulov was neat and I sold it much too cheaply.
At least some of the pistols seem to be walther GSP expert. Or an earlier model of it
This needs to be a USPSA competition. Not this useless crap
@@hawaiiangunner why would it be run by a us organization when firstly it is a international competition and secondly the USA wasn’t even represented
I think it insane that we never get to see the actual targets and where they've been impacted.
The ISSF needs to rethink their video coverage of this event. More, not less!
18:30
It’s insane how you don’t have enough attention span to see the targets but enough to type this out
Ngl, I thought the guy in the thumbnail pulled a gun out at an event. Turns out the event is about shooting guns. Now it all makes sense.
