    from 26:20 onward you can see the 2nd place guy (Gang Liu) and his muzzle shaking quite a bit sideways as well as up/down. That ever-so slightly, "minute" movement of the muzzle translates to the gun's aim dancing wildly all over the 8 ring, so he would've been lucky to get a 10, much less 10.9. He definitely felt the pressure and his heart rate shot up like mad that caused all that movement. Been there, done that. :p

    I'm no shooter but these scopes don't have magnifications (trust me I checked).
    The inner 10th ring has a diameter of 5 millimeters(diameter of a pencil) and they are averaging in that ring. I don't know about you, but I don't think I can even see the bullseye from 50 meters away let alone shoot it (without magnification like them).
    Then again, you shooters probably know better. Personally, this sport and its competitors have my sincerest respect.

      The front and rear sights are circular just like the target. Instead of actually seeing the bulls-eye and laying a cross-hair over it like you would through a scope, you line up the circles, making sure that any space between them is completely equal all around.

    • @jacknone5501
      @jacknone5501 3 роки тому

      Frankly I can shoot further then this with basic Iron sites. Of course with basic Iron sights you are more focused about grouping rather then true center. Now I have been shooting since I was 6 and have put tens of thousands of rounds down the barrels. Frankly they are lucky these competitions are not in the U.S as the competition would be much fiercer. When using a bigger boar rifle (My Enfield - 303 British Caliber) I am able to shoot about 300 yards with reliability (Larger target of course) with its military configuration iron sights.

    • @thoughtfox2409
      @thoughtfox2409 3 роки тому +2

      @@jacknone5501 Yep, but can you hit a 5mm circle (wich is the same diameter the round has) almost every time? If the competition int the US would be so much fiercer, why aren't there more Americans in these finals? They are, after all, WORLD CUP finals...

    A: it says 50M in the description what did you think that meant? Of course its 50 meters
    B: Those are NOT scopes they're peep sites same as they use on full bore rifles
    C: Again the description says mens PRONE, what were you expecting 360 no scopes
    D: and finally if it were as easy as you all seem to think it is, competitions would be flooded. No you couldn't shoot this well with your Ruger 10/22 idiots

    Does anyone want to check my math? I'm trying to figure out what MOA the inner circle is.
    according to ISSF the 10 ring is a diameter of 10.4mm (0.4094488 Inches)
    50m = 54.6807 yards
    1 MOA = 1.047 inches at 100 yards
    100 yards / 54.6807 yards = 1.82879
    1.047 (inches = 1 moa) / 1.82879 = 0.5725
    Meaning at 50 meters 1 Moa is 0.5725 inches
    If the 10 ring is 0.409 inches.. and 1 moa is 0.5725
    0.5725 / 0.4094 = 0.71518
    If I did my math right, If the shooter kept his groups within the ten ring he'd be shooting a 0.71 Moa group or smaller....

Although i will say it takes some skill to hit a target this small, i would like to see how these guys do with a big bore rifle shooting 1500 yards across a valley. Not with a fancy brace to keep you from moving, just off of a sandbag or shooting sticks. That is how you know you are a good shot.

      +Cory R they are barrel extensions. They are used as a controlled environment to allow the bullet to stabilize before it leaves the barrel which in theory should make you more accurate. They also make your sights a bit more accurate but I don't know much about that :p

      The 10 ring is as wide as the diameter of a pencil. They are putting almost every shot in there with support coming from only a sling and their body. The rifles are far more accurate than the shooters. They will shoot into the same hole at this range. And for these rifles $1500 is a joke. Try $4000.

    I'm surprised they are shooting .22lr. Center fire ammo is generally considered more accurate, and if they want low recoil so that subsequent shots are more accurate, they could use .22 Hornet or 5.7mm.

    • @ryanjosephdaley6723
      @ryanjosephdaley6723 9 років тому +3

      22LR is extremely accurate, even the standard grade factory ammunition. Competition shooters use match grade ammo which is much higher quality and is more consistent round to round.

      precision marksmanship is difficult at any range. its more difficult shooting at 10m(standing) with an air rifle trying to hit a 5mm bull than shooting at 1000 yards(prone) without glass in my experience(which is a hell of a lot).

    so I dont know anything about competition shooting like this but.. what's the point of these rifles... there's 0 recoil by the looks of it... if you were to shoot at a man's chest at 50m, would it even kill him? Would they be able to hit reliably at 500m? What sort of ammunition do they use?

    • @bwvbach
      @bwvbach 8 років тому +1

      The point of this is to show exceptional marksmanship. They are using rimfire rifles chambered in 22lr. With this load they cannot shoot 500yards with any real accuracy because the bullet has lost all energy. larger cartridges are used for 500 yard competitions.

      Depends where you hit the person. You get hit in the chest you are going to drop to the floor even with a 22lr.

    • @donvahkiinsclan4012

      The fact you think a man is a acceptable target shows you see shooting as a toy, so you'd have to learn shooting a gun doesn't mean you have to kill something or someone.
      Other then that, I used to do professional shooting 50m, this shit is hard, its not the gun handling you need to worry about, its yourself. The amount of pressure you need to train yourself to get a bullseye consecutively 5 times in a minute and 30 seconds is hard. Trained and certified shooters in the 50m are deadly shooters. If you can stay in the 10's in 5 shots, manual reload in a matter of 1 minute and 30 seconds I'd take you out for some practice rounds.
      and we use hollow rounds using a 22. long rifle.
      If you really want to test your skill, try shooting a card in half from 25m
