- I’m out visiting some Churches near Wisley in Surrey and all they all have one thing in common. They were all Closed! I’m making the most of it however as I look around All Saint’s in Ockham, St Mary’s in Send, All Souls in Sutton Green and St Edward the Confessor in the Grounds of Sutton Place. Still, I had a nice Lunch at The Oliver Tree!

It’s s sign of the times! Still I enjoyed the walk in the grounds and looking at the signs of Spring. I have never seen a church dedicated to St Edward the Confessor before. Looking forward to you visiting Stratford.
We have a church here in Burgess Hill dedicated to St Edward the Confessor, most of the building is fairly new mind you.
Thanks it was just a sudden realisation that it was very unusual & I hadn’t come across 1 before. To be honest you would have thought he would have been a popular saint for church dedication.

I love watching your videos Marq, such a shame the churches weren't open. Maybe you need to book an appointment next time you venture out? We're not all criminals and it's a shame us historians can't enjoy our heritage.
I used to love watching the planes at Gatwick similar scenario sadly.
I don't know that area of Surrey but went to school and worked in nearby Leatherhead in the 1970's/1980's

The perennial problem of locked churches. Interestingly, many ecclesiastical insurers are giving lower quotes for churches that remain open these days!
Might be worth checking the church websites as they often have days when they are open? There’s also a “keyholder” app which has details of open and locked churches and how to obtain the keys… (I need to get it!)
Most Churches Websites say they are Open but when you get there.it isn't! (The Church at Charlwood is a prime example of that).
