One of the coolest tombs I have ever seen! Loved watching this! Very interesting to see how the coffins are often out in the open in the mausoleums and crypts over there, don't see that here.
I have a painting of Burton on my living room wall. I would have to say he is my hero of all time, read about him he will not disappoint I promise. Excellent video thank you.
When you talked about Sir Richard Burton, silly me thought you meant the actor.😝🤪 What a pretty place, and the Bedouin Tent ⛺ was marvelous. I enjoyed the artifacts they both collected. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊.
I have NEVER seen anything like this mausoleum. It’s incredible. It’s even more incredible that there is a ladder for you to look in. I know this is from last year, but thank you for sharing!!! I loved this quiet walk with the birds and the roses……❤
Beautiful! I love that you get views of the caskets. Caskets from certain time periods are just works of art and love seeing what they look like from different era's especially the cast iron one's that I've seen here in America just fascinating my friend and awesome video!
Sorry I missed premier 😕. I feel like I’m in those ppl’s backyard, cute little place. Wow what a mausoleum never saw anything near like that, sooo cute ! Like a little decorated home. I loved it. The young count, very cool. Some really nice stones there. Thanks. Sorry I missed it live dang it
Thank you so much for these wonderful videos. I paused at the Burton tomb to read the poetry by Justin McCarthy mounted on the exterior. It led me to read more about the poet and the pair buried here. Fascinating!
Rad, gd mrng, guy, this video interesting, w.beautiful scenery, lk bright, cool distance to enter the cementery, each of this grave had own way,to respect, r.i.p.frm.miss.rad..
I'm a new fan, I love your tours of cemeteries.....I always walked cemeteries, here in America so seeing how different the ones are , that you share with us is, 👌 awesome, thanx
Thankyou very much for this most enjoyable well produced video, it was very interesting to see inside the tent crypt, and around the grave yard , the weather was beautiful and it was as if I was walking around the graveyard my self, I have just subscribed as I enjoyed your efforts so much all the best from Scotland 🏴
Thank you Sir for posting this video. You have opened up a new area of study for me as I was previously unaware of the lives of the Burtons. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to viewing all that you have here and all to come. God bless - MB
I am always intrigued by the artwork that goes into these mausoleums and grave markers. What is sad, however, is that so many of these graves are overgrown and forgotten. Makes me realize how much I do not want to be buried. Just cremate me and throw me into the sea 😂. I actually have my son’s ashes on my bedroom dresser so that I can visit him every day and night.
Kind of weird how their Mausoleum is full of knick knacks. And who's lonely little grave was that hidden behind the tent and right up against the wall?
I'm not sure where the door is for access: apparently there used to be an electrical mechanism that made the temple bells tinkle as you walked inside. You can still see electrical wires, and I think the battery may have been in the black box you can see behind the coffin on the left-hand side. The wreaths under glass domes seem to be a feature of 19th century Welsh cemeteries, so I think they may have been sent by people in Wales.
Definitely a beautiful place. Very interesting video indeed, and the view inside the tent tomb was pretty clear, actually. But who was the poor bloke hidden away behind Sir Richard's tomb?
@@deadgoodwalks Ah well. He must have already been there- can't imagine a family willingly parking their loved one in such a cut off spot like that. He's not only forgotten, but gets trodden on by the tent tomb visitors to boot. But that's exactly the kind of thing that makes your videos so interesting- seeing odd bits like that and wondering how and why. Really great stuff. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
That was the first thing that occurred to me. I'm guessing it might have been one of their kids or a parent? Because that's pretty obviously a mausoleum Built for Two.
its only a thanks to you did i litraly spot a grave for 2 luptons at roundhay st johns when i visited recently how many times it was under me nose per visit i must have just ended up never noticing it
Ah yes there’s a fine line with graveyard humour lol. Always try to be respectful, they were once people just like us and one day we’ll be just like them
Upon Richard,s death, his widow Isabel burnt his massive collection of diaries, letters and manuscripts thus depriving history of a treasure trove of his life and times...
The interior still shots would suggest that there is some sort of entrance to the mausoleum. Is it a subterranean access point, or is the "door" on the front of the structure functional? Perhaps those details have never been made public...? I'm just curious.

have never seen a tomb designed as a tent before... very fitting for an explorer and his wife... quite unique
What an interesting tomb. I’m going to have to read about him now. I’d never heard of him before (ignorant Aussie 😂) thanks ❤

WOW. Never saw a marker that you could climb up to see inside of all their worldly treasures. Neat!
Very serene place, beautiful bird song and flowers, lovely walk, thanks 👍

Thanks Cathy, glad you enjoyed it
Oh, I would just love to get inside that tent mausoleum to dust and sweep. Not to move anything, just to tidy up a bit. It's so lovely and romantic.
Probably the most personable tomb Ive ever seen! Wow I had to rewatch just to stop it and take it all in! AMAZING!

Sure is Wendy, so peaceful and then to see that tent tomb just topped it off
old cemeteries in the USA have Celtic crosses as well
Amazing 👏
Thank you Lady 😀
So amazing ❤x

Hi from New Zealand🇳🇿Beautiful cemetery!
Definitely a beautiful place. Very interesting video indeed, and the view inside the tent tomb was pretty clear, actually. But who was the poor bloke hidden away behind Sir Richard's tomb?
I thought the same thing Ron when I watched the video back, I didn’t even notice it when I was there sadly
@@deadgoodwalks Ah well. He must have already been there- can't imagine a family willingly parking their loved one in such a cut off spot like that. He's not only forgotten, but gets trodden on by the tent tomb visitors to boot.

Hello, would you consider going to Limerick Ireland to find the cemetery where Frank McCourt's family are buried. That is his twin brothers.
Beautiful video......
Liked this one. Tomb was unique
Very interesting that tent is extraordinary, it's a shame that in your tutorials that mausoleums & cemeteries in disrepair. A real shame.
Would have liked to know more about the young count. What his story was ect...... Burton's tomb was a very interesting looking one.
Me too John, I didn’t even know he was there, I’ve still yet to research it
Love Sir Richard
I'm not certain he is much known in the US but his autobiography/bio by wife is wonderful
Pretty cool never seen. Anything like that
👏👏👏👏 wowwwww
Thanks for watching Morgana 👍
its only a thanks to you did i litraly spot a grave for 2 luptons at roundhay st johns when i visited recently how many times it was under me nose per visit i must have just ended up never noticing it
Wonderfull!
gorgeous 'tent mausoleum' but yet a noisy place! is it close to Heathrow Airport may be?
Yeah on the flight path
Very unique tomb
Hello..! I appreciate your job..! I'm french..and i Say ,.good trip 🌝🌚
Beautiful setting. So much bird song. I like your respect and also your humour. I cant quite place your accent. Is it Yorkshire or Lancashire?
Ah yes there’s a fine line with graveyard humour lol. Always try to be respectful, they were once people just like us and one day we’ll be just like them
and yes mainly Yorkshire with a bit of London and Cheshire thrown in now and again
how cool is that mausoleum, such a clever man is the material, is tent a real canvas or like or is it concrete looking like a tent ?
Convincing isn't it, but it's a mix of carved stone and render
Upon Richard,s death, his widow Isabel burnt his massive collection of diaries, letters and manuscripts thus depriving history of a treasure trove of his life and times...

Its hidden in plain sight, the door comes off
@@deadgoodwalks I assumed as much. I hope the door is locked securely! Thank you for such an amazing video btw! Cheers! 😃
Wow. 3:53
But who was buried directly behind the tent?!?!
Sorry to say he was a bit over looked, maybe he had an even more interesting life story. I’ll look into it one day
Superb video!!!!! But whats the oldest grave you,ve ever found?
161 Guy
oh man thats the most rad crypt I have seen hahaha
Why does no one keep this place up?
Where is this
Location location location.. watched a lot of these videos now if you not on a path or in front with a stand out head stone your never seen!
After the secret window I see symbols of freemasonry ( the hanging hand)
