Absolutely crazy that you can put up these numbers at this body weight. I'm roughly the same weight, and doing lifts that heavy is just wild to think about.
You should talk to Mitchell hooper about recovering from injury, he seems to have the most unconventional methods but has always recovered pretty fast from injury, tore his hamstring mid august and was back to squatting and deadlifting normally by early September
@@germanrud9904 Mitch tore his hamstring then went straight back into to squatting and deadlifting as part of his recovery, John injured his glute and now wants to stop squatting and deadlifting as part of his recovery. Mitch is opposed to ice baths for recovery, opposite of what most people think but supported by science It could just be his methods
@@dantethunderstone2118 I heard it many times too. Recovery by doing the movements is probably to get the blood flowing through the muscle. And I don't think it is not supported by science. It is a part of research.
@@dantethunderstone2118Many lifters revert to lifting the same or nearby muscles from what they injured because what it’s doing is getting blood flow back into that injured muscle to help with recovery. What Mitch does is nothing new
Right you mentioned that before. I meant the total, but maybe that’s not even true. In any case, best of luck on your offseason and next comp. Looking forward to more regular content.
Hi John excellent video I have an addiction to lifting too heavy which always leaves me injured with strains...etc I understand that the majority of your training involved moderate rep ranges from 3-8. If I am not s powerlifter, should the majority/all of my training be in these higher rep ranges since I never need to peek for a meet? Curious to find out more if you could point me in the right direction! Take care man
First and foremost do what you love doing. I tried doing high volume bodybuilding and in the end that made me quit gym for multiple months. Look up Mike Mentzer heavy duty and Dorian Yates high intensity training. They recommend heavy weights to failure in 6-10 rep range.
Hey John, congratz for the meet! I wanted to ask, u were only 5 lbs away from Amit’s ATWR squat, why didn’t you go for that on your third? Or did you think it just wasn’t there? GL in your next meet a speedy recovery!
Because of your quad and glute injuries starting to stack up are you considering changing your squat style to reduce the distance between your knees and hips from the bar? Or do you have a different plan? I’d hate to see the injuries get so frequent that you get taken out of the sport in a few more years
Do you think you that given how well your squat performed during the meet that, from a programming perspective, you would be better off taking your last heavy squat day further out even if you aren't injured? Obviously not to the same extent as you were forced to during this prep but do you feel there's anything to your squat responding better to having more rest than usual before a meet?
Stoked to hear you’re staying at 98! The strongman experiment was fun as a fan but definitely seems to have impeded your SBD potential. Can’t wait to see you smash 2300.
John , I can hear a little disappointment in your voice and I guess that is normal when you have been the best for so long. It seems that there are some young guns coming up to push you and that might just be the motivation you need. When you hit that 2300 at 198lbs it will be crazy!
6:45 Heaviest deadlift by a woman was 700lbs (318kg) by Lucy Underdown (With straps). Andrea Thompson has the record for the hummer tire deadlift (Higher pull) at 800lbs. Brianny and Samantha probably have the record for heaviest deadlift completely raw though, obviously still insanely impressive.
Well lucky to get that 3rd squat but sometimes you need that to set up the day. What a lifter Mr Hack is truly unbelievably strong at all lifts and very exciting to watch. Take a bow fellow.
Are you ever worried about hitting depth on squat? Obvously, you have a lot of range of motion... but does your hip crease really come down all the way below the knee?
And there’s the difference between Jon Hack and Ed Coan. Jon choked on his bench press and his dead lift. Ed Coan never choked in the big moments. Sorry Johnny boy but you got a long ways to go to catch the (🐐) Ed Coan. 😂
A simple check can tell you that Ed either failed or didn't even try a 3rd attempt as much as he completed them, that search can also tell you that John completes 3rd attempts at a slightly higher rate.
The greatest powerlifter of all time 😎
Big Facts
Yep, he is
Yes sir
Nope. Ed Coan beats him.
With suit and light wraps yes. With sleeves no
John highlighting the other lifters is great to see
John has always been a humble ambassador for powerlifting, we need more like him
As soon as I saw the Kabuki squat bar I knew it was gonna be a good day
So glad they are using it at ghost clash
That calm and focused walk at 4:42, that silent intensity
Great work sir!

Yeah no kidding. He’s arguably the most genetically gifted powerlifter in history. Crazy strength level
555 dead. 455 squat. 365 bench at same body weight….. I thought I was strong…. Then I watched Jon.

Outstanding lead up and win John!

I felt like my bulk was going pretty well until I realize I’m the same size as this guy now.
John making weight is mind boggling to me.
The girls watching the bench are some heavyweights themselves ! Great performance !

This is some next level spotting.
one of the most good looking powerlifter
Beast! Good job John!

I don’t think so much. Just the bench. It helped squat and deadlift.
