Biggest tool that made this all come together was projection mapping. Tbh it is probably the best technique you could possibly use other than a toon shader to bring a painterly look to your work. Projection mapping also comes in handy for making gradient style ambient occlusion effects that also help bring a stylistic vibe. It is literally so powerful.
you're probably the only guy that gets to the bottom of things for animators who are seeking help of combining 2D and 3D. You see it a lot in anime (mainly Makato Shinkai's work) so your tutorials really help!
The glint off the rock in the middle is a wonderful touch. This scene reminds me of the cartoon 'Bambi' before the mother is killed--warm and peaceful. I would add gnats and swarming mosquitos! ha!
Very calm and soothing environment; a place that children would love to explorer. Also a good hangout for beetles, birds, trout, frogs and Sasquatch. :)
Throughout the entirety of this video I am thinking to myself "Now how am I going to do this?" I'm sure others feel the same, this is truly inspiring! Love the art!
I've learned more in these 5 minutes than in many months of tutorials. If you want to know how to do this, listen to the techniques he used and get to learn and apply them.
This get me so hyped about animation!!! I don't have enough time for this new hobby, please stop being so inspiring!!! I'd be sad if you stop, please continue =]
